Mountain House #10 Can Precooked Scrambled Eggs w/Bacon (16 2/3 cup servings) exceeded my expectations. Would I rather have 2 fresh scrambled eggs with a slab of bacon, of course. But this was very tasty for anytime you dont have access to that. this can fed 4 men breakfast for 2 days (large portions). The can I got was freshly packaged with a best buy date of 2038. I will be buying more.

I get the Pro-Pak's to put into my families 72-hour kits, or bug out bags, whatever you prefer to call them. I like that to Pro-Pak is vacuum sealed so it takes up less space in the backpacks I use for our 72 hour kits. In terms of taste, this is my favorite pouch. While it of course does not measure up to homemade eggs and bacon, it is the next best thing. The eggs come in little chunks instead of just all one flat pureed texture which I appreciate. I have 2 toddlers who also will happily eat this pack, which is nice during camping, Overall, highly recommend.

Not bad at all, I bought this not only for for camping and hiking but for storm preparedness and power failures as well. The pouch itself can withstand moisture since its very well sealed. Very easy to open, just rip where indicated. It has a ziplock seal which will be used to close it when the water is added. Once i open it the eggs resembled yellow pieces of large croutons with bits of bacon. A "bacon" type smell it identifiable. The instructions say 8 ounces of water but its better around 5/6 ounces. Once reconstituted you will be draining most of it off. Pour the water and stir, then seal for 3 minutes. after that stir once more and let it sit for 5 minute. The end product looks like scrambled eggs and has generally the same consistency. The taste isn't half bad, though i did have some Tabasco since to amp it up a bit. Look, if you are having to eat this the situation is one where taste buds will be a minor worry. The serving size is 1.5 servings a pouch, with each serving containing 680mg of sodium. and 410mg of cholesterol. no surprised considering it is freeze dried food. Don't expect you to be watching your sodium in an emergency but good to know if you have high blood pressure. Perfect for hiking and camping though, very light and easy to prepare. This will make a perfect addition to any emergency kit, providing you have an adequate store of water. Great to augment fresh and canned goods. The packet includes an air absorbing packet which is to be discarded, but if you happen to leave it accidentally during prep, no worries. Just ditch it before eating it. Over all i highly recommend Mountain House meals not only for the easy prep but for the taste which is pretty good. I have not as of yet tried other companies freeze dried products. So far though this will be my go to brand. not only for taste and ease of use but because of price as well.

We purchased a couple different #10 cans from Mountain House for our fishing vacation. We were flying into the site, so had a very strict weight limit. We simply could not bring eggs, bacon, ground beef etc due to those limitations. We did not expect any of it to actually taste good, but we were prepared to make due. Much to our surprise, it was all VERY good. The eggs and bacon were delicious - and I don't mean in a "really good for freeze dried food" kind of way. If we'd eaten this at a coffee shop, we'd have said the same thing. It was really flavorful and the texture was no different than fresh cooked eggs. We had brought a small bottle of hot sauce in preparation of needing to mask the taste, but it wasn't needed. The eggs have a smokey flavor which matches very well with the bacon. For breakfast, I made an entire can for our party of 5 (including 3 men who eat a lot). We had just a small amount left over, so hopefully that would help you judge how much you would need. The ground beef was also a very pleasant surprise. The only difference between the rehydrated freeze-dried ground beef and freshly browned ground beef was the absence of grease. The flavor and texture were the same. We made a big pot of chili one day for lunch, and spaghetti on a night that the fishing was slow. We didn't skimp with the ground beef on either meal, yet still had around 1/3 of the can left after those 2 meals. My guess-timation would be that there is the equivalent of around 4-5lbs of ground beef in the can after it rehydrates. These products are not cheap of course, but they were exactly what we needed. The taste was so fantastic that we are going to purchase more to keep in our pantry for future use. These would work great camping, backpacking, during an emergency situation without power, etc. We've tried many dehydrated MRE-type products and have never been impressed with the taste as we were with these. It must be the difference between dehydrated and freeze dried. I may seach for some smaller cans from this company as once the #10 can is opened, the product inside needs to be used within a week. If we hadn't had 5 people on our trip, we definitely would have had leftovers to use when we got back home. We all gave these products (the scrambled eggs with bacon and ground beef) 5 stars and would highly recommend them to anyone.

This is good as is, but can be used for breakfast burritos. Simply put it in a large flour tortilla...I'll put a slice of bacon in if I'm making some or if I have the precooked packaged bacon along. This is the favorite breakfast for the kids. The eggs appear to be pre-cooked scrambled eggs and then freeze-dried. They are lumped like regular scrambled eggs, not like powdered eggs. The Breakfast Scramble is also good, but we like this better.

Freeze dried Breakfast, just add water. They claim this is servings for two, however myself and my son, would up doubling up to have enough breakfast. of course considering we were burning calories like madmen, as we both had 20K steps by 5pm, and kayaking we both burnt an additional 2K calories. So naturally we wound up doubling most meals. Other than that it was quite tasty and simple to prepare.being about as close to "real" scrambled eggs and crumbled bacon as I can imagine you could get from a freeze dried product. It's not powered like most of the scrambled egg products this looks to be more like you took real scrambled eggs removed the water and packaged it, so that when you re-hydrate it well it looks like the real deal. I liked it and my son who is rather picky liked it alot especially considering we have to navigate the waters of not only taste but texture with him. and this ticked off all the boxes fro him elevating it from edible to actually him saying it is good. Be prepared though to salt and pepper to taste as it really has nothing in it but freeze dried eggs and bacon.

Wow. I've tried those survival bars that taste like sawdust. That's what they ate defending Stalingrad back in WWII. THIS IS NOT THAT. They realized that to duplicate food you need taste, texture, smell, image. They've nailed all of these. Texture - excellent. You need to let it cook. The bag maintains heat surprisingly well. So don't touch the bottom of the bag. Carry it from the top. Smell - smelled exactly like bacon and eggs. Taste - it tasted enough like eggs that you wouldn't care. Yes I know if you were starving then you wouldn't care. But tell that to spoiled U.S. kids ok? Image - looks exactly like fluffy eggs and bacon. Something to note - I overfilled the bag with water. So if there is water left over some people might be turned off by that. However in a survival situation you would drink that egg water with the eggs, enhancing the meal. I bought the pouch. Its a single serving and that is correct. Note: The bacon is bits of course, and they're at the bottom of the pouch. So you need to mix them to the top. With all that water, they kept dropping through the egg pieces. I forgot to take pictures. That would have helped you. One other thing. when mixing, if you see a big piece of egg, cut it in half so it can absorb the water properly. And finally, let it sit as long as you can wait to be sure it absorbs the water. They say about 10 minutes and that would be correct. This is the brand we're buying in case we lose power or a tornado comes through and aren't able to get food from the outside.

Great breakfast! Actually, we don't use them camping, we take the can, break it down into 2/3-cup ziplocks and throw them in the freezer (they last forever there, just like in the can), then for a quick 'gotta-go' breakfast, you simply microwave a 'go-cup' with 1/2-cup of water in it until it boils, dump a baggie of mix into it, put the lid on and let it steep for a few minutes. Throw in a slice of flat-bread, and you have a great breakfast to go. We normally get something like 14-baggies per can, or about $1 per go-meal. Cheap, affordable and convenient (you'll spend this much just sitting in a fast-food drive up waiting to get your order).

I have been an outdoorsman for over 45 years and have seen a lot of backpacking and survival foods in my day. Mountain house has always been my go-to for dehydrated foods since I first tried them in the early 70s. The quality and honesty that mountain House provides is unsurpassed in the field. Beef is BEEF and chicken is CHICKEN, not hidden TVP and flavorings like most of the other "meats" that are found in other leading brands. These eggs are no different than the other MH foods I have fallen in love with. Well prepared, very tasty and I don't need a dictionary to read the ingredient list. They are lightly salted, mixed with real bacon and rehydrate to a properly textured dish that is just good. I like to mix an envelope of eggs and one of their fire roasted vegetables for a 2-person meal that is filling and satisfyingly good. Another good combination when I have some extra camp time is to prepaid some Golden Griddle instant hash browns and top with these eggs and some dehydrated cheese for an hobo breakfast that really rocks! I'm back for the fourth year to stock up my mushroom camp for the fall. I spend 7 to 8 weeks each year gathering mushrooms commercially in N. California and S. Oregon and MH foods make it much nicer. Now, to find some coffee with the same hi quality taste!

First time taking dehydrated meals on a long hike and I will always pack Mountain house in the future. We used these for our scouts three day hike in our local mountains and everyone loved them. The Breakfast skillet tastes great and was one of my favorite breakfast packets. After just a few minutes after adding the hot water we had great food. I added a little less water than the instructions said so I wouldn't have any excess liquid and they were perfect. They are also more filling than you would expect for one packet. We were all worried we would be hungry as the scouts were all 14-18 years old and each packet more than fed a single person. Plenty of calories to give you the needed strength after a long hike. They are also light weight so they worked great for our long hike. Most importantly, they taste really good. I am a food lover, so was a bit worried about freeze dried food, but I was pleasantly surprised and found myself excited for the next meal. I highly recommend the Mountain House meals for both your outdoor adventures and also food storage.
