We have tried the more traditionally shopped circular wall protectors in the past, and been pleased with the results, however our staircase at our new place did not have space for the full circumference for the bottom pressure bolt. These rectangular wall protectors fit the space perfectly, and provide the added sturdiness we needed. Glad that the paint won’t be pried off the wall too! In picture you’ll see the wall nanny on bottom and another product on the top one. I like that the wall nanny comes in more color options too. Time will tell if it leaves an indent in the wall as another reviewer mentioned. So far we are very pleased.

I have four "baby" gates to keep dogs in/out of certain areas of the house. Keeping gates up with a Bichon, two Pitbulls, and a Blue Heeler, is a chore. These dogs are strong, and they don't understand that playing and slamming into the gates knocks them down (in fact, they always seemed so surprised when the gates fell - like they'd magically unlocked them!) My husband and I were literally putting the gates back up on a daily basis. But we didn't want to permanently install the gates, because the areas in the house that we put them up changes every few weeks. I saw the Wall Nanny, and thought they were a little expensive, mainly because I saw other similar items that were cheaper. The main difference is that the cheaper ones are just round, not much bigger than the gate pressure point. There's one gate in particular that we needed to stay in place (to protect the cat), so I went with Wall Nanny for that one, and a cheaper version for the other gates. Within three days, my husband (the biggest cheap skate) said "were the rectangle ones (Wall Nanny) more expensive?" I told him they were. He said, "Well, I guess I understand why - they're like night and day compared to the round ones. Let's get a couple more packages of the Wall Nanny ones." I know it won't mean much to most people, but my husband, telling me to buy the better but more expensive product, is probably one of the greatest reviews we could give a product. The Wall Nanny gives the gates significant reinforcement from them getting knocked over. In fact, the only gate that has fallen since getting Wall Nanny was when my 19-year-old son was messing around and tripped and fell into the gate. The Wall Nanny held firm - the post on the gate broke instead. Again, I was very impressed. (Not thrilled that my son broke the gate, but I hate confidence that the Wall Nanny will keep the gates in place.)

Bought to make sure two safety gates stay in place when hit by active grand-toddler and grand-dogs. Really happy with product. The wall protector leaves no damage (after several uses) and is much more heavily locked to the wall with its larger gripping surface (about 4 x the locking area of the gate pressure pads alone plus a cupped area to lock in the gate pad). You can also semi-permanently mount with a single small screw allowing the easily install and removal of the gates if you don't want them up all of the time. This in turn allows the easy remounting of the gate/fence in the same position each time. If you do leave them on the wall, they take up little room and the curved surface on the units blends in visually pretty well and even better, doesn't easily snag on clothes. Another plus with these is they don't give your house that baby war zone look with screw holes, gouged areas from slipped gate braces, and off-center, badly hung gates. These seem to be made of good quality materials and very well made. Simple is better with this stuff. My only note for improvement would be that mine did not have the needed wall screws with them. Not a big deal, but it drove the only 4 out of 5 star rating above for ease of installation. Putting them up is easy, but I had to hunt for the right size screw.

We have a 2 regalo baby gates- at the top and bottom of our stairs. But at the bottom of the stairs, the older kids kept bumping it and it would slip off and come off completely, and a couple spots it peeled the paint off. Plus the more you tighten those screws into the gate, the rubber on the baby gate comes off so you’re basically screwing metal against your wall. We didn’t want to actually drill the gate into the wall to make it permanent as this was our last baby and we have a new house. So I finally ordered these and it fixed the issue and now the gate is very sturdy! I saw a reviewer say it left indents of the rubber words on the wall, so hopefully that doesn’t happen, but compared to the paint peeling off from the gate slipping when bumped, it’s a better alternative. This is a solution to a real problem, definitely grateful to whoever was clever enough to invent this!

If your have a tension baby (or pet) gate and you have walls, then you need this product. I'll admit, I prefer mounted gates (the kind that permanently install with a hinge on the wall). However, my new house is nearly 100 years old, and I really didn't like the idea of drilling into my original plaster walls. These wall cups were the perfect answer. I have several "permanent" tension gates in my home to keep my dogs out of certain rooms. It is 100% worth the price to get these for every gate in your home! For example: One gate blocks off a foyer that has a very wide and smooth walled entry way. These cups keep the tension gate so secure, it easily withstands 150lbs of dog slamming into it every time someone knocks on the door. Or My son constantly slams the gate leading to his playroom. Before we got these cups, it would regularly fall out of the doorway and slam to the floor (people have even gotten hurt by the gate falling on them). Now it withstands all the traffic without budging. Just. Buy. These. Now.

I made the mistake of not purchasing the Wall Nanny for the first pressure gate that we purchased and installed. Two things happened. First, even though this is just a pressure gate, the paint quickly wore off the wall at the pressure points. Second, because the gate was unable to be installed easily on the floor molding, I raised it up slightly and my mom almost killed herself when she tripped over the bottom bar. So here is my advice. Just buy this along with your preferred pressure gate. It is affordable, installation is quick and easy, and you will save having to paint when you no longer need your gate. This isn't a $600 investment for a new cell phone - the product is simply brilliant and works exactly like it should and looks very unobtrusive. Last, compared to the gate that doesn't have the Wall Nanny, this gate slips a lot less when our 6 year old or Goldendoodle goes slamming into the gate as they are apt to do either from play or clumsiness.

I used these as directed, but with out the screws and all went great. I really like these baby gate wall protectors. I would recommend them to any one that needs a secure way to keep gates from moving when 2,3,4 year old children push and pull on gates. They really work!

We have four baby gates in our house (my wife now refers to our house as a "gated community"), and we use wall protectors for all of them. We have been quite happy with this particular rectangular model (when used in the appropriate locations -- see below). They are easy to install, their rubber grip minimizes slippage of the gate, and they leave very little marking behind on the wall when they are removed. Wall protectors come in several different shapes and sizes, which is good because baby and pet gates can be installed in different types of locations (staircases, doorways, large walls, etc.). It is important to select the proper wall protector based on where you plan to place your gate. So... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A FEW GENERAL PRINCIPLES ABOUT WALL PROTECTORS ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1) Wall protectors don't just protect your walls from dents and scratches; they also usually provide a better grip between the gate and the wall. This means your toddler or pet will have a harder time pushing the gate out of place (though they will still try!). 2) Almost all wall protectors will still leave a small mark on your wall, especially if it's painted drywall. There are ways to minimize the mark left behind, but it's probably unrealistic to expect absolutely no evidence that you had a gate installed. The protectors do, at least, help minimize the risk of DENTS in the wall. 3) A larger wall protector will generally have a lower risk of denting your wall than a smaller one because it will distribute the pressure from the gate over a larger area of the wall. 4) On the other hand, the larger the wall protector, the farther that contact point of the gate will end up being from adjacent structures like the floor. For example, with a large circular wall protector, the opening where you fit the gate's tension screw is a few inches from the edge of the protector, which means the bottom of the gate will be an inch or two off the floor. Obviously having the horizontal bar at the bottom of the gate's opening floating a few inches off the floor would create a tripping hazard! 5) Therefore, in general the best wall protector to use for each of your gate's contact points is the one with the largest surface area that will fit into the space without displacing the gate. (Obviously I'm ignoring aesthetics here...) With those principles in mind, let's consider three of the most common shapes of wall protectors for baby gates and where they might best be used: 1) Round: These wall protectors are usually 5-6" in diameter, with an opening in the center where you insert the gate's tension screws. Their biggest advantage is creating less pressure on your walls due to their size (which is especially important against drywall). However, they won't fit in some places and they probably shouldn't be used against the floor, where they could prevent your gate from sitting flush against the floor. So use them on your gate's upper contact points wherever you have a large wall space. 2) Rectangular: These are usually about 2" x 6". They put slightly more pressure on your walls than the large circular protectors, but they fit into places the circular ones won't. I suggest using these in two types of places: - In the horizontal orientation for ALL lower gate supports, EXCEPT in places where your horizontal wall space is only a few inches (such as the bottom of a narrow door frame). This will allow you to position the gate as close to the floor as possible. - In the vertical orientation for UPPER gate supports in a narrow door frame. 3) Square: These are typically about 2" x 2" -- in other words, not much larger than the gate support. I would use these in only one place: for the LOWER gate support at the bottom of a narrow door frame, where really nothing else would fit.

These are great for stabilizing a baby gate, especially against a very determined dog. I didn't buy these to protect our doorway, but the round rubber pads at the end of our spindles on our baby gate were slipping and I figured more surface area would make it harder for the gate to slip. I was right! What didn't occur to me was that the round wall protectors I was considering probably wouldn't fit on the bottom because those spindles are so close to the floor. These do fit because of their shape (just like in the picture). Before I put these on, our gate was sliding every time the dog pushed against it (and I couldn't tighten the spindles any more because then the gate's door wouldn't close). Once I put these on the gate was way more stable -- the dog hasn't pushed through it yet.

I almost did not order these. I thought the wall cups that come free with the gate should be enough. Why waste money, even if the price is very reasonable? But after reading the reviews, I decided to go ahead and order these wall protectors. I'm so glad I did, they allow the gate to be positioned all the way down against the floor, whereas the round cups, that came free with the gate, do not -- which would make it too easy to trip over the bottom bar when walking through the open gate. My husband and I are older, which means that tripping hazards are more worrisome. The safety factor alone is more than worth the small price! I appreciate the fast shipping too, these got here before the gate did, even though the gate was ordered a couple of days earlier. So we had them on hand right when they were needed.
