you have to bend it to shape but other than thet this works flawlessly and im thinking if you did the ssd coversion like me it adds additional stress to the cable and makes the original ones fail this works great and will buy again if i need more.

Had the infamous circle with a line through it on my mac and was able to get the problem fixed with this cable. This is the second time since owning my mac that this problem has occurred, so I knew to purchase a cable, rather than attempt to fix/replace the hard drive. The price is right, the installation was pretty simple, and it has worked well for me so far. Hopefully it stands the test of time, but for the price, I have little to complain about it if gives out in a year or two. I recommend this product if your mac won't boot and/or read your hard drive. Make sure you buy the correct cable, so it fits your setup. They have multiple options for this type of cable. I would look at the product number written on the current cable in your computer and buy the one that matches your number. (P.S. It works for my SDD, something I was a little concerned about before purchasing.)

Last week my 2011 MacBook Pro all of a sudden showed the dreaded gray screen with the “?” Folder. I thought it was the Hard drive and bought an new SSD but I hung up 1/2 way through the erase/format. I did more research and thought maybe, just maybe, the hd cable went bad. I bought this at 11pm on a Wednesday and paid the one day shipping. It came the next day and 5pm and I replaced the old cable with this one, and guess what? It worked!! The old hard drive booted up no problem! Now I have to figure out how to clone the old one for my new crucial SSD. I can wait.

Went to boot up the 'ol A1278 MacBook Mid-2012 and got the blinking folder with question mark. Found out these HDD cables are touchy and well known to go bad unexpectedly. Replacing it did the trick. Note the model number on your existing cable (it's on the backside of the ribbon cable) because there are two versions, don't get the wrong one.

Knew I needed this when I googled my laptop issue. Ordered this part and watched the youtube video on how to install! SIMPLE! and totally fixed my issue. Only hard part was seeing the teeny-weeeny yellow part to connect but I got it. THANK YOU!!!

Read the instructions you are going to be required to do some bends to make this thing fit other than that this fixed my issue I am at a mechanically inclined person however I did not want to spend $250 to get my laptop fixed it was a nice experience

This cable worked like a charm. From start to finish replacing the cable was about 20 minutes. The only tricky part is connecting the IR sensor on the front bracket of the hard drive tie-down to the small rigid board on the end of the flex cable. I am not sure if there is an easier way to do it but the flex cable is super small and takes good eyes and a steady hand.

Cheap replacement for a broken hard drive cable. Simple to replace and has my laptop working like new. Has been working for 5 months now and hopefully lasts for whatever life my MacBook has. Definitely recommend trying this if you get the folder with the flashing question mark on your old Mac.

So i powered on my macbook pro (2012) and I was greeted with the blinking question mark. As someone who doesn't know much about it, I FREAKED! After a Google search and a few youtube videos later, I decided to Order this and see if this was the Remedy. IT SURE WAS. it was a pretty simple install. there are many videos on youtube to help you on the installation. As far as quality, I can only say its feels and looks identical to the OEM one i swapped out of my mac.

It does it's job as intended. I purchased this after getting a folder with a question mark at bootup on a MBP 13 2010. Although this is what most people recommend to get I don't think that's what solved it for me. It seems my MBP lost it's boot record because the batter died. I think I some how repaired it by selecting it as the boot drive again. Eh I think I had my old HDD connected in order to do this and I was in the boot options menu when you hold down a key at startup. My apologies for not remembering correctly.
