Sitting here in South Miami Dade County (Miami, Florida) after Hurricane Irma September 2017 and I have used this chainsaw to clear out six of my neighbor's yards. I am a homeowner, not a professional, but can tell you that this chainsaw outperforms the gasoline Stihl chainsaws I own from 2004 and 2018; as well as a 2018 Huskvarna 24” model. Keep in mind that my gas chainsaws are rarely used and are in excellent condition other than age. The DEWALT DCCS670X1 outperforms any of the gasoline chainsaws I own. The battery lasted me half a day easily with severe to mild cutting large wood. The provided battery charger took a while to charge; I also went with the quick charger and was shortly back in business. Basically, I got about three and a half hours of severe to mild usage and charged it once a day between cuts for neighbors which was enough for me to take a brake; which was about an hour and a half. For what a homeowner is using this for and is in no rush to get a large job done... I would recommend this chainsaw over a gas any day. As others have stated, expect to use alot of bar oil. In my case and my neighbors; it saved not the day but the week. March 3, 2019 Update I bought another one of these. Original is running and working great but I wanted a back up. Also purchased extra bars and chains. You really cannot go wrong if you keep it clean and sharpen your chain. Cuts like butter.

More than happy with new saw. I had high expectations for this battery chainsaw so i cut this 25" white oak log to make its first cut. It never bogged and cut clean wish I had it years ago.

I just put in a day prepping the new camp site. Wow. I can't go back to gas. Less than half the amount of noise compared to my neighbor who was cutting with gas at the same time. No, a single battery isn't going to last you all day. Get spares. Still lighter and cleaner than fuel. My batteries have performed as expected with this tool. No, it doesn't come with a case. Buy the case the other reviewers have mentioned. Its a great fit. Yes, it goes through bar oil. Because a well-lubed saw keeps the bar and chain cool, is more efficient at cutting, and decreases how often you have to service the chain. Drain the oil when you're done like the instructions tell you to do. I have read reviews of a couple "design flaws" that aren't: 1. the gasket for the bar oil cap is missing. No, its not. Its fixed to the inside of the reservoir. 2. cheap/weak oil cap. I've only used this for a day, but to me it doesn't feel like its going to break. I made sure the gasket was oiled. The cap seems secure in place, yet opens easily when I intentionally turn it. 3. the sprocket/gear that moves the chain has a cheap retainer washer and bolt. Hmm. The washer is not meant to be the primary means to keep the chain on the sprocket, the forward/backward chain tension is. The washer is a simple guide in the rare episodes of lateral movement. If you have that much lateral play with the chain that it damages the washer, its likely because you let the chain get too loose. This saw has a well designed tensioning system that is separate from the gear cover casing. This is better than the single cover/tensioner that I have used on my previous saw, and worlds better than having to tighten the bolts with a wrench. I'm not a brand-loyal consumer. But its simply a great tool and I'm very pleased with the results.

This is no Homelite toy saw. I purchased this to clear small trees and brush. Which it did with no issue. So as any good American I needed to know the limits of this new tool that just blew away my expectations. Dropped and cut up a 15" diamator hemlock like a hot knife thru butter. 3 two-stroke chain saws for sale if anyone wants em. My days of mixing gas and excessive noise are over. 60 volt brushless for the win.

I mainly got this because I already have the 60V String Trimmer and I wanted another battery and charger, but I was too cheap to buy them alone. I figured I paid about $130 for the chain saw itself, given the battery is $189 and the fast charger $65. However, once I got and used the chainsaw, whoa, was I impressed! Knowing what I know now, I'd pay more for it than I did! It is totally awesome. I have used it twice now, about an hour each time. My cut limbs made a pile of brush about 15 feet wide and 7 feet tall each time and the battery showed 2 bars (out of 3) when done. I cut many limbs 6-8 inches in diameter and it cut all of them very fast. The best thing I like about the saw is that since it is battery powered, I did not feel pressured to hurry and make my cuts like I do when I use my gas powered chain saw. I would put this saw down, examine the best way to cut the limbs, most about 10 feet off the ground (Russian Olive trees), then climb up the ladder and cut them. I did not have to worry about getting burnt from the hot engine, nor have the loud noise in my ears while cutting, so I was able to concentrate on being safe and getting the job done. Last, because it is battery powered, there is a lot of torque and so the chain gets to full speed quickly. So, overall, I'm very glad I got this saw. It is sort of instant gratification, since if I have just one limb to cut, I can grab my chainsaw, do the cut, and done. Very fast and efficient. I live on 12 acres, so I have a lot of scraggly trees that need major cutting, so I'm going to get a lot of good use out of this chainsaw that I mainly bought for the battery and charger! LOL.

I have had this saw for a couple weeks now and must say I'm very amazed at it's performance. Was it enough for me to sell my 440 husqvarna? Yes it was and no regrets. I have really no cons to say about this saw yet other than you get the basic charger Dewalt provided with this kit and not the fast charger. Remember folks that this is battery power so don't expect all day use on one charge. Like all cordless tools invest into some more batteries. I have two 3amp hr batteries and When I finish the second one I'm littery done for the day. I did however changed the 16in bar for a 18in bar and shows no signs of struggle, just rips threw the logs no problem. 16in was fine but I have to cut threw a few bigger logs and already have the sharping tools for 3/8 chain. If your thinking of going cordless with this saw for use on your property, you will not be disappointed. To clear up a lot of confusion about the battery amp hrs, when used in a 60v tool it is 3amps and used in a 20v tool it's 9amps and both add up to 180 watts. It is not 9amps in the 60v co figurations.

Only had it a week. Went to work on some mulberry trees today. It worked great. Great power and runtime. Much easier than messing with gas and oil for small around the house projects. (you still need bar oil)

Great saw. Just a response to those asking about spare chain. Uses the same chain as the 40v chainsaw per Dewalt part number. Reading reviews of the 40v it is said replacement chain is an Oregon R56. Can buy at Lowes for $18.

I did not expect to like this saw but I love it! Being a petite female I always struggled with starting my gas saws. No pull starts, no gas mixing; battery makes more cuts than I thought it would and doesn't take forever to recharge. The tool less chain tightening is handy. I love everything about it! UPDATE: I still love this saw. I've replaced the chain a few times and have been clearing a large area with it. It has been amazing. I'll never go back to struggling with a pull start gas powered saw again.

Many reviewers stated they received the 9 amp hour battery with their purchase, when the description said the saw comes with a 3 amp hour battery. The details of the battery can be confusing to some... The largest dewalt 60v battery currently available (to my knowledge) is rated at 3 ah at 60v, and rated at 9 ah at 20v. So, the Amazon description is correct, and no one has been mistakenly sent a higher capacity battery. The included battery is their biggest one available.
