My grandmother is 96 years old and has to breathe concentrated oxygen constantly. The power in her apartment frequently goes out whenever it storms there, so on several occasions over the years she's found herself suddenly suffocating in the dark and forced to try to open a portable oxygen cylinder with arthritic hands. She has never owned a computer and has no need for one, but her oxygen concentrator draws a significant amount of power. The 900 V/A UPS that I use for my computer only lasted 6 minutes under that load, so after some research I settled on this product. This battery backup still only lasts for 15-20 minutes, so it will not provide continuous power through most blackouts, but it gives her enough time for either neighbors, family, or emergency services to check on her and open an oxygen tank or plug the oxygen machine into a generator with an extension cord. The battery alarm will also immediately let her know she needs help if the power goes out in the middle of the night rather than violently coughing herself awake, which is how she used to find out. This device was put to the test less than a month after I put it in her home. She initially panicked when the lights went out, but realized after 30 seconds that she could still breathe. The UPS worked exactly the way I hoped it would. She was able to remain calm and safe until help arrived. I recommend anyone with elderly relatives to consider something like this as an option, but you will need to do some math first and make sure the volts / amps / watts on whatever you're plugging into it will last long enough on battery power to suit your purposes.

I've had the unit for about three months now and we have had several power outages of varying length. So far, everything works just fine, and the runtime is quite acceptable. With that said, though, I cannot really report on battery life (the APC UPS which this replaced had seven years on its battery.... and it was time to replace the battery). The unit is connected to a Linux system using the 'apcupsd' daemon. Configuration was quite easy, and the system reports UPS status and records the UPS logs. (APC doesn't seem to provide 'PowerChute' for Linux distros). With two computers, two cable modems, an Ethernet switch, router, and monitor, I have 43 minutes of runtime (one computer has two sets of dual-disk RAIDs, a drive not in an array, and an SSD... so presents a reasonable load). BTW, I _really_ waffled among this APC and the equivalent Eaton and CyberPower units, but reading reviews all over the web, as well as past history, landed me back with APC.

It's APC.. And they're still great.. We have used APC since the mid 1990's for all our computers. We ordered 2 of these since we had a massive surge from our wonderful Electric company. Our 2 old ones had been dated and the batteries got weak.. When I say Dated the batteries the units at 600's had to be at least 10 years old. our building panel surge protector also saved our servers but all the protection took a nasty hit.. So we are replacing it all.. this is a small price to pay over having to replace over 5K or more in equipment. We also have similar UPS on our other equipment like TV. REMEMBER TO READ INSTRUCTION. The battery has to be flipped to activate it

So far so good. We've only had it a few weeks but we put it through some tests and it has performed as advertised. The real test will be reliability. We will quickly update with any unusual events UPDATE 12/26/2018: So the day after Christmas we had a power outage. A transformer in our neighborhood blew up during the middle of the night and the APC Battery worked flawlessly. We have our PC Power Station and printer connected to it and the PC runs 24 hours per day/7 days per week. We have the APC Software set to shut down the PC after 5 minutes of power loss to conserve battery. I was awakened by the APC alarm (light sleeper) and witnessed the software successfully shut down PC at the 5 minute mark. We lost power for over 5 hours and the APC was able to conserve battery for exactly 5 hours and 23 minutes after it shut down PC. The event was accurately recorded in the APC software. Changed my rating from 4 to 5 stars

We purchased this sold/fulfilled by Amazon during the seasonal sales and have never regretted it. Don't waste any more time trying to get by with a lesser UPS or one from a company that won't back up the UPS with it's own version of insurance protection. (Homeowner's insurance will-NOT help if you/your equipment suffers electrical loss/damages, at least in most cases; YMMV. You owe it to yourself to protect all of your equipment, all of the time, given how much a decent and/or custom system and peripherals would cost to replace. This UPS carries our main PC, with 850-watt EVGA.PSU, Asus M/B with 32 GBs RAM, 4 HDDs, and EVGA video card, dual-Corsair liquid CPU cooler over an AMD FX-8350, 8-140mm fans in push-pull-positive pressure vent-config, an 4K monitor and a dual USB 3.0 dock; the APC UPS never breaks a sweat, and essentially asks for more. After 2 months of 50% capacity and run time, there have only been 3 electrical 'noise events registered, which weren't enough to trip the alarm; very nice. When you configure the UPS, turn the sensitivity all the way up in Power Chute, and remember to check it once a month. If you're in an area with storms, AC power issues (under/over voltage or outages), you really must have to get one of these. We've never been without a UPS, but it's never nice to tempt fate; we shutdown and unplug the system during any lightning stores, and have another similar UPS for TV/AV/router/firewall/LAN/modem. (Wife even has a different brand UPS for her sewing machines). Not bragging, just suggesting, that from 30+ years of experience in building/repairing/replacing systems, it's good practice to test your UPS by fully cycling/depleting the UPS on-board lead-acid battery to the preset reserve when the UPS shuts everything down automatically, for instance at the 5-7% mark, then recharging the battery again fully before powering the system up the next day. If you do this every couple of months, the battery won't grow as weak as quickly so will last longer, whether you plan on purchasing a new unit or just a new replacement battery every 3 years. Some people have reported much longer than 3 years worth of battery life, but this depends on each system, use, electrical demands, etc. YMMV is the rule here. We didn't care for the blank AOC-QC paper test-slip which the factory techs have always attached to the UPS before it leaves the factory for shipment; it was completely unreadable. UPS wanted a photo of it. Self-explanatory guys. Even under bright light and magnification there was nothing that could be made out. Other than that, it's a excellent UPS. The only other legitimate gripe was that APC really needs to fix up their web-site, and make it secure and user-friendly. This is the 21st century; the registration process should be much less painful than what we went through this time and we had to request a link from APC to download the current version of Power Chute; this should come with the UPS on CD, as it used to be in the goold old days. Given the equivalent number of trees consumed vs electricity cost listed in APC's Power-Chute monitoring program, or what it claims we're burning, it does tend to cause a moment of reflection; at least until we consider the vast corporate data-farms running 24/7/265 around the planet; still, we trying to conserve, yet enjoy. This is our personal opinion of this product/purchase; we received nothing in the way of goodies, freebies or other compensation for what we believe to be true, and hope the review helps other Amazonians make appropriate plans to protect their own equipment and make sound purchasing decisions.

My old APC, a ES 750 Backups, was bought in 2008, and the battery on it just failed (yes, it lasted TEN years). That unit was a replacement for an APC I bought at a retail store which was at the end of its warranty, but the battery died. I called APC back then, and they sent me the replacement at the end of the warranty life for free. APC had the best customer service in the business, and despite not calling them this time, I have no reason to think it's changed. I ordered a replacement battery for that 2008 ES750 (I got the Keyko here on Amazon- will see how long it lasts), and it's back in business. If I get another 5 years out of it, one APC purchase will have lasted 20 years and still going. APCs are incredibly reliable, they honor their warranties, and they appear to last forever. Nothing I've seen anywhere says different. I purchased this APC 1500VA because I wanted longer backup battery life, and moved my old APC ES750 to protect my Comcast router. Once a year or so, we have a tropical storm or hurricane that cuts our power for an hour, up to days in a rare hurricane. A 1500 should double the up time of a 750. Also, this has a display that shows the condition of the battery, the amount of power being used, and power load. The old ES750 did not. This unit is amazing. I have a full gaming PC, monitor, sound system, printer, 2 lamps plugged in, and the load bar is barely to 1/3. With the PowerChute software installed (first time I've ever installed it), it says I am drawing 99 watts of power right now (I have printer shut off when not in use). The Estimated battery time is 61 minutes if the power source goes down. There was no discount of any kind available, so before buying I compared every backups before paying the higher price for this APC brand. The difference was a couple of dollars more, but for something that could possibly last 20 years, saving a few dollars was not worth the headache of an unreliable unit or unresponsive customer service. Reviews always make a difference to me in a buying decision, I wanted to address some of the reviews that may have turned me off from choosing this model. 1. The unit makes excessive noise. - I have it positioned under my table, more than 18" away from my actual PC (PC faces my chair, this is turned sideways to face the wall with the connectors facing the PC at a 90 degree angle). The unit is SILENT. It makes NO noise. NO buzz, NO hum that can be heard over my near silent PC fans. I have no idea about the specifics for servers, or how far it should be away from equipment to prevent feedback loop, but for home use, the unit is silent and works flawlessly. 2. The horrible chirping when the battery or AC power dies. I totally relate to this, it's exactly what happened when my old ES 750 went, and it drove me almost bonkers. It is LOUD. If you unplug the unit, the chirping would not stop until you physically removed the battery itself. THIS unit has a mute button, it's the top left button on the unit. I haven't heard the alarm sound on this yet, nor do I want to unplug to test because getting to the plug behind all my computer equipment is a contortionist exercise. But my old APC did not have a mute button, so I assume that's what this is for. There's a feature in the Powerchute program however that allows you to "DISABLE THE BATTERY BACKUP ALARMS AT ALL TIMES" (as well as "Disable the battery backup alarms when the PC is in hibernation"). So you never need hear the alarm if you don't want to, ending the annoyance once and for all. My little APC ES 750 protected my PCs through 3 major hurricanes and 4 serious tropical storms, one of which destroyed my roof. With that one unit, I have never lost a single PC to massive power spikes, something that happens continuously with brownouts as they try to restore power after each major storm to the area. Some neighbors have lost PC's plugged into regular surge protectors. The ability to protect data lines seems to help too, my mom once fried a PC while it was shut down and she was on vacation, the only explanation was a spike through her data lines. The only downside is the weight... to compare it to a brick would be absurd, it is many times the weight of a brick. It's HEAVY. But that's because this is a huge battery and it's all battery weight. Be prepared for the weight, at about 1/6th the size of my loaded tower PC, this weights 4x more. APC are the best, hope this helps!

Was looking for a UPS for my PS4 pro, so far so good. The display is nice since you can easily tell what your load is and how much time you can run off of the battery in the vent of a loss of commercial power.

I was all ready to write a nasty review because this thing died after only three months. But, what had actually died was the power supply for my computer. I replaced the power supply in my desktop and plugged this UPS back in and the UPS is, indeed, fine. The f02 error the UPS was reporting was accurately saying the computer was messed up downstream. I can't speak for others, but I suspect some of the people who report that the UPS died actually had power supplies die in their computer too. I noticed it because I unplugged everything from the UPS and then plugged things back in, one at a time, and the computer immediately tripped the UPS again. Then I tried plugging the computer into the wall (with no UPS) and the electrical socket made a loud electronic cracking noise. So, the consistent problem was the computer, not the UPS.

I have owned these before they are nothing new to me. I had looked at different models on amazon and decided to get this one. I was pleasantly surprised when i opened this up as it has alot of features. It has plenty of outlets and 50 percent of those are protected by surge and the other half are protected with the battery backup. I really like the fact that there is a digital gauge that tells you how many minutes it will support your computer unit. This is based on the electrical load that is plugged into the unit. Love that feature. I think that its a good way to keep track of the condition of the battery. For example my reads 122 with a all in one computer and keyboard and printer plugged into it. I live in a bad state for stable power. Its always going off. This place is a real pain. I am going to collage online and need to make sure my computer does not get destroyed by these power surges. If you set your computer up so it turns off after so many minutes of non use then that is a cushion added along with this battery backup. Meaning if the power gos off then so what. The computer is already off basically. The backup is pretty well designed. Lots of features for such a economically priced unit. There are alot of cheaper ones out there but not with these features. i never used tech support so didnt rate that. Unit works great, well worth the price.

Working great so far. It was very easy to install - just hook up the battery, plug stuff into the unit, and plug it in to the wall outlet. I bought it from Amazon Warehouse Deals and it came without any cables (it did come with the power cable), but no other issues - no scratches or other cosmetic problems. Original box was damaged - shipping box was fine - it was not damaged in shipping. The USB cable is special - it has a USB connector on one end to plug into your computer, but a plug like an RJ45 (Ethernet) plug on the other end. I contacted APC and they're shipping me a cable - no questions, no problems. Good, quick response and good service. Some people reported buzzing from the unit. I didn't hear anything under normal operation so I pulled the plug to force it to backup mode. It beeped at me but other than that, no sound (no buzzing).. But time will tell. I'll have to wait and see how it operates over time, and what the battery life is. But, so far, it looks promising.
