GREAT for cruises! Very good value and so many uses for these!

My wife and I go on cruises every year or so. Every year we always end up saying we need to find a good set of walkie talkies for communication on the ship. Of course we forget and never end up ordering them. Well this year I ended up thinking about it BEFORE going on the cruise and did a little research before going with this set. Communication on the ship is basically non existent, even with the internet package they try and sell you that doesn't work. When I was looking at them online I was a little worried about the quality. They seemed to be sort of kid-like, almost like the ones you used to play in the neighborhood with. After reading the reviews I decide to take a chance. When they came in I opened them up and was pleasantly surprised of the solid feel that they have. They don't feel as cheap as they look, and even then they don't even look that cheap. If I had to do it again I probably would have went with the black ones. They were very easy to set up and had them up and running in no time. Once we got on the ship I turned them back on and found a channel that wasn't being used. It's super easy to find an open channel as well, and it outlines it in the instructions. There was a lot of channels that were taken up while we were in port, like the parking valets and all the garages around us, but this is expected in New York since walkies are used everywhere. We quickly tested them out with the people in our group. There were 4 couples so each had a walkie and made their way around the ship to different areas. I was very impressed with the distance these things worked at. We are talking the whole length of the ship. The only places that these didn't work in was if you were in the elevator which is understandable. There were so many people letting us know what a great idea it was and they were going to do the same thing on their next trip. The batteries didn't drop one bar during the whole ten day cruise. We would power them down at night and power them back up in the morning after waking up and buzzing everyone in and getting a plan together for breakfast or whatever it was for the day ahead of us. RECOMMENDATION: If you are a frequent cruiser like we are, these will work great for on board communication. You will be more than happy with this set.

This company turned my frown upside down!

Before I dive into the greatness of this product let me start off my sharing my shipping experience. I ordered these for my husbands camping trip. He was taking our boys and his father up to Big Bear for a boys camping weekend. I ordered these after months of thinking about it, and then they were stolen right off our front porch. I was so upset! I called amazon and they sent out another order immediately! The boys had a great trip and needless to say the walkie talkies worked out great! They can’t even take the trash out or go to a kids soccer game without using them! Great buy!

Worked Flawlessly

Worked Flawlessly. I have an entertainment company and we did an event at a golf course where we were set up out in the middle of nowhere. I needed to communicate with my crew from the truck location to the stage setup. I think about a 1/4 mile away. I am very happy with these little guys and the price.

Worked for my cruise on large ship!

Bought these for a cruise on Oasis of the seas (very large cruise ship). Rallies worked from levels 3 to 17 with minimal static. The only issue is we couldn’t figure out how to change some settings so this may not be the best purchase for less tech savvy people. We were able to figure out settings we needed in about ten minutes. Would recommend for a cruise vacation.

Great functional walkie talkie! DIY'ed to be any color!

I originally bought this as a toy for my neices to play with (red pack). They live out in the country and signal is sparse. Well, I didn't realize that the family needed it more than I realized and it is going to help their communications from the house to the shop and trailer. They are powerful enough to reach through the metal shop and as far as 1 kilometer! Also, I wanted to get custom colors, so after I bought this pack, I bought 4 color spray cans and a clear can. With a sharp knife, you can carefully pop up the front cover. I then spray painted the covers with about 3 coats, letting them dry for a day in between. Adding the clear coat was a little trickey and caused the paint to wrinkle. So you may need to let them dry longer before adding the clear coat. Since mine wrinkled, I just added clear coats until the surface smoothed out. So don't worry about buying a specific color, you can add your own!

Looks like toys but works perfect

When I received these walkie talkies they looked like a toy my little nephew would enjoy playing with and not something that could be used in real life situations. Boy, was I wrong! After getting the batteries (not included by the way- wish that they were included- would make this even better) and setting up all 4 devices to the same frequency using the provided instructions, I took two of them on a test run during a hike with a friend. These worked perfectly with minimal static as we both took different paths and were able to keep in touch at all times. These will come in handy during any situation where you need to keep track of your friends and family in a big space during travel or hiking.

We read the reviews on these prior to order them for our 9 year old grandson for a Christmas present. We did our family Christmas on Thanks giving evening since we were all together in one place. Sadly, one of the radios will not connect to the other three. One of them took forever to get it to work correctly. Our grandson is to excited over his gift as we had anticipated. Sadly not so impressed with the quality. Hence 3 Stars. *Update as of 11/26/2017-The company has made a very decent & acceptable offer to replace the set of radios where the single radio was inadequate. Very impressed with the customer service team to make things right. Our grandson will be excited to know he will have the four working together. With that, FIVE STARS! Thanks!

Convenient and Works Great!

We used these walkie talkies to communicate with family and friends in our group while on the slopes and resort during a ski trip. The reception and sound were very good and very clear. Compact and light enough to put in your pocket when skiing. The push-to-talk function with walkie talkies is very convenient. A lot of channels to select in the walkie talkies so you shouldn't get any interference or any cross-talk from other walkie talkies. Better than using cell phones because you don't have worry about dropping and damaging it as much, it's more durable than cell phones, and it has the convenience of push-to-talk.

Great for Use On Cruise Ships

I bought 4 to use this past week from June 16 through June23rd onboard the Royal Caribbean Freedom of the Seas Cruise Ship. My kids, wife and I were able to generally get in touch virtually all over the ship. From the pool on the 11th deck to the rooms on the 8th deck. Useful also on the islands where we did not have cellular coverage. Highly recommended.

Great set of Walkies for Camping, Day at the Park or Hiking

Great set of Walkies! - I had wallkies for many years, some of them a bit more expensive than others, but this set of 4 walkies are great for being outdoors. I had them for less than a month and I already took them for a week of camping, gave them to my kids/nephews they played with them, threw them in dirt, dropped them and still work fine, the three AA batteries last a long time, then I took them to a theme park and we pretty much used them all day (there were other people using them on the same channel so switching to another channel wasn't that hard). then We using them on a roadtrip with 3 cars in caravan and they work between 1 and 2 miles (open road) and batteries I would say lasted almost three weeks of heavy use, the range is pretty decent, they would work within 1 or 2 blocks in the city or 1-3 miles on the open road no buildings and you can hear loud and clear. lastly I took them on a hike with my kids and one of them dropped one set on a small creek and of course it died for a few minutes, but no biggie - I removed the batteries and let it dry, I was surprise that when I put a new set of fresh batteries the walkie came to life! - I might buy another set soon so I can have them as backup. Good set of walkies for the money!
