Update: Happy to say it's still working great after a month. No issues yet. What I wrote previously: I've only had the feeder for a week, but so far, so good. I bought this to replace another automatic feeder that stopped working after a couple years. I like this feeder a lot more than my old one. It's a lot sleeker-looking and more air-tight than my old one. Also, it's easy to program, doesn't clog (so far), and runs on battery or with A/C adaptor (which is included - was sold separately with my old one). I haven't used the recording option and don't plan to - she needs no extra enticing to eat. She's actually super annoying about food and begs constantly if I hand-feed her. Once she learns the auto-feeding times, she runs to it seconds before it dispenses and leaves me alone (for the most part).

This machine works well now that it's been redesigned to use a flexible dispensing mechanism to prevent jamming. Just wish it came with a stainless steel dish but a trip to the pet store solved that. A 6.25" x 1" bowl from Durabolz Selecta fits perfectly!

I have had this for 2 weeks now. My wife and I have recently moved to a new city and don't know too many people we can trust to watch our house while we travel. So we bought this because we have a cat. We feed him two times a day with a measured cup to keep his weight down. The vet put him on Royal Canin MOderate Calorie SO to keep the weight down and for his urinary tract problem. Anyway, it came with a plug in adaptor so I just plugged it into the wall and filled it with the food. I programmed the timer for twice a day. It does not do am/pm it does hours 1-12 then goes to military time for the evening. I tried a few trial runs to see if I programmed the right measured amount of food to feed our cat. When I got that where I wanted it was ready to go. It has not clogged in any way so far and has been running great. This machine is for hard food only. The Royal Canin food is really small kibble for the cat so I don't think it will clog in the future. I have been concerned about my cat sticking his paw up the machine disbursement to get more food as others have said their cat does, but he has not done this. Usually when he gets his food and eats it he's done and goes away from the machine. Now my wife and I don't have to worry when we leave the house because this will do the job. For our cat, the holding tank probably holds about 10 days worth of food for him if not more. All we need is a bigger watering dispenser for him and another litter box for long trips away from home. The instruction manual is pretty easy to understand as well. I am happy it plugs into the way too. Really good little feeder and I would recommend it for those traveling or those who work late as my wife and I sometimes do as well. Your pet will be fed on time. My wife just doesn't care for the color, perhaps the company can offer other colors in the future?

Several years ago I didn't want to spend $100 on an automatic feeder. Ended up spending more money on 3 different feeders that did work beyond 48 hours. I had to go on a trip last weekend for 3 days. I needed a reliable way to feed my cats while I was away. I saw a few others that worked liked this one and more expensive. Some of the reviews on this one said the food jammed. The food I feed my cats are small pellets so I had no trouble. The lid is held very well, it takes two hands to get it up, so there is no way the cats can get into it. I am very happy with this feeder.

My 20lb senior citizen kitty has been on a diet and lately he has started gulping down too fast and puking shortly after. Our vet advised us to make his portions smaller and increase the frequency from 2 servings a day to 3 or 4. You see, both my husband and I work, because this cat is expensive to maintain. Well not the only reason why we work, but you get the drift... Anyway, O.M.G. this thing changed our lives. literally! We had to get a pet sitter every time we go out of town for more than a day. Now our cat gets fed 3-4 times a day, in small portions. We can program if we want to feed him as small as 1/8 cup, and different portion sizes for different times of the day. One day the power went off for a tiny bit and when it came back, it started at 12:00am. But Dah!!! So the solution is to have a battery also set up, so if AC power goes off, it switches to DC power, and then when the power comes back, it switches back to AC power. My cat doesn't puke anymore and that makes me happy for so many reasons! So yeah, go ahead and buy this... it's great

I purchased this feeder because I finally got tired of my two pushy, food-motivated cats waking me up to be fed on weekend mornings. I only wish I had purchased it earlier! It has worked great for the six months I’ve had it, though I did make a couple of modifications to it so it better serves my needs. The food tray that comes with the feeder was too small to accommodate both of my large cats eating at the same time, so I removed it and placed a square melamine tray under the feeder instead. This way, both cats have room to eat and the lip of the tray keeps the food from being scattered across the floor when it’s dispensed. I also placed a piece of black duct tape over each of the two empty spaces at the bottom of the feeder where the food tray would normally snap in. Pieces of food were getting stuck in these crevices and it would frustrate the cats when they were unable to dislodge the pieces. Since I added the tape, this hasn't been a problem. I live in an 800 sq. ft. apartment, so I can hear the low noise made by the motor when it's dispensing food, as well as the louder sound of the food hitting the tray. I stopped noticing the sounds after the first few days of use, and though I am a heavy sleeper, this hasn't bothered any overnight guests so far. My cats recognize the sound of the motor engaging and they will race to the feeder when they hear it, so I don't use the voice recording function. The cats haven’t been able to get any food out of the feeder when it's not in use, despite their best efforts. One cat still tries to break into it sometimes and will unplug the cord from the back of the feeder. This is where the battery backup feature comes in handy!

ONLY downfall is the trays are not slanted to allow food to fall away from under the place it drops from. Easy fix though.... They come off easily to wash. I just rested them on the edge and raised the unit with a thin piece of wood (could use anything around the house i.e. book, etc). Worked effortlessly and took me about 30 seconds. Food now runs lightly to the edge instead of staying up against the unit.

We bought this because of going on a 2 week vacation. We have 2 cats. They can hear the voice from the next room, and they go running! We have it set up for two meals and a snack. The food does not get caught in dispenser. It is sturdy and well-made. Highly recommend!! This with the fountain water bowl are perfect!!

So far, 5 stars through and through. Multiple aspects of this feeder attribute to this rating. Please keep reading in case any of this pertains to you as someone doing research on feeders as I did prior to purchasing... Bought this a few weeks ago and have had zero issues. I had done extensive research so as to not spend too much but also didn’t want to be stingy and have it break down while out of town or something leaving my car without food for who knows how long. I know, from reading reviews of other automatic feeders, that most issues arise after about a year, so I can’t speak to that; but I can say that it’s flawless so far for having approx 2 weeks. The recording goes off 3x for each feeding so if my cat is far away he has the chance to get closer and here the 2nd or 3rd recording play. My cat gets prescription food so it’s important he gets the Goldilocks amount of food (just right). So I like that I can have different portions of food set for each feeding so as to provide the right amount for the entire day. The screen for set up is also very user friendly; extremely simple once you get the hang of it and allows for changing times and number of feedings as often as you’d like. I also like that the food cover goes over the button screen so my cat can’t accidently change anything by batting at it. Another positive is that it run on batteries AND an AC plug. So I keep D batteries in the feeder but also keep it plugged in so if I were to ever lose power (say in a hurricane, like we recently had in FL) my cat would still be able to get food because it would then run on battery power. Hope this was a helpful review! I know I appreciated reviews of this nature 💁🏼Enjoy!

We bought this when it had zero reviews due to the solid amazon return policy. It works like a champ. My husband programmed it and it works very reliably. The feeder works great. As the food level starts to become low, it seems like it feeds a little less, but just keeping enough food in the hopper seems to work fine. Watching out 14 year old 17lb Siamese get up from a dead sleep and sprint to the feeder from the length of our ranch house is worth the expense of the feeder alone. He still seems to harass us for food about 20 minutes before his normal 5 am feeding time, but I think we are just going to adjust the feeding amount and schedule so he doesn't interfere with our sleep so much.
