It has a solid build, and good temperature controls.

I use the CMHP-B101 hot plate for a number of things, including boiling water cooking pasta, and brewing tea.. It brings water to a boil relatively quickly since it is 1500 watts. I haven't used a frying pan with it yet, but It appears that it will cook pretty much anything a regular stove will. The only thing I don't care for is that the metal on/off knob, and the temperature control knob get very hot to the touch. Oher than that, it is one of the best hotplates I've owned. It also has an attractive, clean looking design. The company is great to work with. The product stopped working after 4 or 5 months. I contacted them through Amazon, and they responded immediately, and sent another one, which is on it's way right now. The tracking number they sent me shows exactly when it will arrive.

Helpful hot place

This gets used at work to make espresso. So far that is all it has been used for.

Good heat quality

I used this product as a side burner for heating water and putting jars with chocolate in the boiling water and then kept on low. This worked great for a chocolate fountain. The surface looks like grooved teflon.

Not very powerful

Not as powerful as I hoped. Wanted it to boil 2 gallons of water, and it had a heck of a time getting there.

We bought a couple of these to use for heating up soup, boiling eggs, etc. They work great and look nice. We've had them for a few months now with pretty heavy use and no problems. I highly recommend this burner.
