I am new to pet grooming. I am only doing it to save on grooming costs. While getting one dog is do-able, getting two groomed gets pricey. I was spending $130 a month on grooming (including tips). These clippers were somewhat more expensive than others, but I think they work great. I am very slow at grooming and so I do a little and then do a little more and then do a little more, etc. I will say that it is a great investment if you want to groom yourself. My dogs certainly don't look as cute as when the professionals do it, but I have already recouped all the money I spent on everything. I will take them once a year to actually look good (well, I may change that to every six months - haha). One thing I will say is that I would wait to purchase extra blades. I bought a whole bunch of different sizes, thinking that I would need different lengths. Well, I haven't used the others yet. And, I'm not sure how long blades last, but my guess is that if you are grooming your own pets and not doing it as a business, they are going to last a while.

We used this first time today at a do-it-yourself dog wash. The helpful owner, who knows a LOT about dogs, dog grooming and tools, fully approved of this clipper, along with the compatible stainless-steel Wahl combs we bought (also on Amazon). Husband, who does the heavy-duty part of the grooming, liked this clipper a lot better than another Andis we bought because of the rounded handle rather than the one with the squared-off corners. More comfortable and more maneuverable. The long cord is nice, and the two speeds work well. Our dog is a curly-coated labradoodle, not the easiest to groom. We used the #1 (1/2") comb attached to the clipper on her body and legs, the #10 blade that came with the clipper on her private parts, underside of her ears and feet, and pro-quality scissors on her long-haired face and tail. This has been a learning curve, but a fulfilling one. We had to learn the difference in blades and combs. You might already know this, but the blade comes as part of the clipper (in this one, #10 very short and also detachable), and the combs (sold separately) are attached to the blade for different coat lengths.

I have a 50-lb English Springer Spaniel and was tired of paying $60+ for his grooming every few months. So, I did some research and decided on the Andis UltraEdge AGC Super 2-Speed Detachable Blade Clipper. I also purchased the Andis 9-piece Standard Clipper comb set. I looked at the Andis website and the retail price of this clipper is over $300, so I consider the $138 I paid on Amazon a very good deal. I’ve only used the clipper once, but it made quick work of grooming my dog. The trimmer cut through his thick coat very easily. The motor is not overly loud and the blade does not heat up too fast. However, it does get hot, so I had to stop to take it off every several minutes to dip it in some cold water to cool it down. If you’re looking for a professional grade clipper for home use, I highly recommend this model.

AMAZING! These little clippers pack a powerful punch. I originally bought them for my golden retriever and wondered if they would cut through my cats long silky hair when he gets the spring time matted hair--they glide through both my dog and cats hair like butter. The cord is super long also--no need for an extension cord. I highly recommend getting cooling spray for the blades though-they do get hot after 15 minutes or running. Great purchase, I wish I would have bought them 10 years ago and saved money at the dog groomers. I am going to buy clipper blades that cut longer though, the Andis come with #10, I'm looking at buying a #5 blade next. (Keep in mind, the SMALLER the number, the LONGER the cut!) P.S... they work great for face/bridle clipping on horses too!

So far so good! Haircut #1 completed. Ok - so she's got to be a little embarrassed about her home haircut, but I'm learning! These were super easy to use on our labradoodle who had gotten so out of control with long, curly, tangled hair, I thought the groomer might turn us away. I thought I'd save the $90 haircut and give this a go on the bet that we could start doing ourselves and have these paid for in only two haircuts (even with an extra blade)! I took advice on reviews and got a sectional blade to switch out when one gets hot. Works like a charm. Highly recommend. Before and after pics attached!

We have a Maltese that was a matted mess. These clippers worked great. Other reviews noted blades getting really hot but we did not have that trouble. There are 2 speeds- low and high. Low speed was adequate for most of the cut. We had looked at several reviews and different brands/models at our local pet store. The price on Amazon was significantly lower.

I have a poodle mix that requires frequent grooming. After watching Youtube videos I decided to try to do it myself. I first tried a cheaper clipper but it was very difficult to get an even cut. The Andis ProClip glides much smoother thought her fur. The 2 speeds helps with more difficult areas like around joints.

If you are reading this and happen to be wondering if there is something better out there to trim your dogs with than the wahl trimmers on the shelf at wallyworld, you have come to the right place. We have mini schnauzers with very different hair - one fine and straight and one thick and curly. The latter was especially problematic for the old wahl trimmer. This trimmer, along with a #10 blade, a #15, and a #4 skip tooth cut our grooming time down from 3-4 hours for both dogs down to 30 minutes per dog. I am happy to pay for all of this in exchange for not having to spend so much time in a confined space with dog hair all over me....and dogs didn't enjoy prolonged grooming times either. I spent some time researching which brand, which features, and which motor speed would be best, and this was my end result. I have no regrets.

As a groomer I'm very partial to using Andis clippers and I use this mainly, and the MGR when I don't want to hold as a heavy as clipper all day long. If you can snag this as a Lightning Deal, get it, as it saves about fifty bucks. It's great for heavy coats (of course you should use the right blade, look at the Andis breed chart for the recommendations if doing it at home). You can snap on any Oster A5 or Andis blade. This doesn't come with a case, but it does come with oil. It has a nice long cord and a metal hanging hook. Be sure to invest in Blade Care dip and a Cooling spray. All these clippers are quality and they do get hot. You don't want to burn your pet, so frequently check your blades. Oil your blades after every use, and wipe them before using on the pet. The lower blade is NOt plastic as some people seem to think, it's ceramic and does hold up under heavy use. This is essentially the same clipper as the Ultra Edge, but in maroon. This model seems to hold up really well compared to some of the other models. I highly recommend this for heavy use and the MGR for medium usage. If you use more than one blade, get the Andis blade case, it frequently appears as a Lightning deal too.

I am so glad that I bought this. I have struggled for 2 years with my Wahl clippers. Clipping was so frustrating until now. I can clip my 90 lb doodle in less than two hours with lots of little breaks for him. My Wahl clippers were constantly getting stuck and I spent so much time clearing the hair out of the clipper head. I would break up the madness with the WAHL's and spend time over 3 days trying to get the same job done that I can now do in 2 hours. With the Andis, I have clipped my dog twice now and have not had one clog (where hair is stuck and the blade won't work). The clipper blade just needs to cool a bit which is no problem because I let me dog have a break and run around. I looked at the comments and also ordered the 7FC UltraEdge Blade to use while the 10FC cools down. I don't like to spend lots of money but this price is well worth the cost. They are so quiet, precise and easy to handle. I especially love the longer cord because now I don't need to pull out the extension cord. My only regret is that I didn't order this sooner.
