This mat is a big improvement over previous big-box store version of the same thing.

This chair mat is much better than what it replaced. I work from home most days and use several computers and monitors so I roll around a lot! My old one began splitting and would not stay in place after it was about 3 months old. I am not sure why this mat does not slip around on my carpet the way my old one did, or why my chair rolls so much easier on it. My old mat was the same size/depth but I purchased from a big-box office supply. I am glad I did not do THAT again. This mat stays in place no matter how much I role around on it in my office. Time will tell but for my office and carpet, which is about 3/8 in pile, this works much better, and the price and ease of getting it home are great, too.

The mat was exactly as described and arrived in less than a week from order date to delivery. I've looked for a long time for just this kind of mat at the office supply stores and was only able to find the very flimsy ones that break quite easily. I am in my office chair an average of 12 hours a day 6 days a week and I'm very happy with this purchase. My office chair glides easily over the mat and since it is a non-breakable polycarbonate material there are no ruts created by the wheels of my chair like the flimsy ones develop in no time. I am very, very happy with this purchase. I just wish I had found it sooner instead of wasting my $$ on those flimsy ones.

Very pleased so far

I have been using this under my rolling office chair at my art table in my studio for about 2weeks. Very pleased with the quality and durability under the medium pile carpeting! I was so fed-up with my adjustable chair wheels sinking into the pile and being stuck in place. This mat solved the problem beautifully! So far so good.

THICK chair mat, well worth the $

Very thick 'slab' of polycarbonate plastic sheet measuring ~.1 inch in thickness (nearly 1/8"). Stiff hence why it is shipped in a cardboard fold over sleeve. After my last mat lasted for a number of years, splitting where the chair rollers sit (and where my toes hit the split edges - ouch), this product is a welcome relief. The only negative (and this is slight) is that due to the mat's thickness, the color is not completely transparent but of a slight golden hue. So if you are laying this mat over a light colored carpet with a cool color, you will definitely notice the faint golden tone. Not a biggie to me over a very light beige carpet.

This is the chair mat you want. I weigh 200 lbs and my desk chair is another 50 lbs and this mat holds up perfectly with no signs of denting or warping. I use it over the carpet in my house and the mat lays flat on top of it even when I am sitting in my chair. My desk chair moves smoothly across the surface of the mat while I am sitting in it. I have owned the mat for about a month now with several hours of use every day and there has been no change in its performance. The picture shows the absence of any dents or warps after 1 month of heavy use.

This is Really Heavy Duty

I weight 200 pounds, and my home office chair with wheels is really had on floor mats. When I sit in one place for awhile, it leaves an indentation and eventually starts to crack. This is the strongest plastic mat I have seen and I am really impressed with it. No cracking or dents. My chair rolls smoothly without getting stuck. This says it is made for low to medium pile carpeting. My carpet is really on the high side, and I don't know if any of these mats are really made for high carpet. This one seems like it will hold up well to my weight and the high carpet. This is better than others I have seen at twice the price.

Make sure you buy the right one!

Beautifully manufactured! NOTE(!) make sure the item you are buying says "Sold by DoubleCheck and fulfilled by Amazon". A few people have reported receiving the mat rolled up in a box, stamped Made In China and smells awful. This is NOT the product! The mat 1/8" thick Polycarbonate (same material as protective eye wear and bullet proof glass), has no smell, and clearly stated Made In Germany (see picture). The mat is so thick and sturdy that there is absolutely NO way that it can be rolled up. My chair rolls on it so smoothly. This one should last a long time!

Strong and solid, a great deal.

After having researched which chair mat to buy for days and days, I'm glad I eventually found this one. It really is everything it's cracked up to be. It is impressively thick as soon as you see it. It is not one of those soft rubbery ones that you can roll up, it is totally firm and stiff. I weigh around 300 pounds and it doesn't get any indentation from the wheels of the chair like my chair mat I have at work. I have medium height carpet (about a half inch) and this thing doesn't move around at all. Based on reviews and product descriptions this is probably the best deal anywhere on a chair mat of this quality.

Perhaps the Last Chair Mat I'll Ever Buy

This product came in a flat box and ready to use. It is strong and perfect for my medium size office chair. I also appreciate the fact that it is clear so that my carpet shows through. You wouldn't know it's there if not for the reflections from overhead lights. The mat grabs the carpet and doesn't slide at all. It's so well made it may be the last chair I'll ever buy.

Great Chair Mat – Smooth as Glass! (with 19-MONTH REVIEW UPDATE)

I recently had to replace a worn-out desk chair mat and settled on this one. My previous mat was also an item I had purchased from Amazon. It lasted about two years before it began cracking and shattering. By the time I threw the mat away, it was full of holes. That particular mat (which I DO NOT RECOMMEND), may be found here for comparison: Universal 56806 Cleated Chair Mat for Low and Medium Pile Carpet 36 x 48 Clear. I was drawn to this particular item due to three primary reasons: 1.) The high number of positive reviews from Amazon customers. 2.) The words "Heavy Duty, Thick, and Sturdy – Non-Breakable" in the product's description. 3.) The reasonable price ($49.99). Naturally, I was skeptical (you never know until you get the item and can judge for yourself), but I thought I'd take the chance. As of the date of this review, I've now had the mat for ten days, and it's serving me well. It is indeed "Heavy Duty, Thick, And Sturdy," just as the product describes. My former chair mat (that's now retired to a landfill somewhere) began bowing and cupping under my chair casters nearly immediately. This mat, on the other hand, is nearly as hard as glass, and easily as smooth. There's no bowing, dents or cupping beneath my casters (I weight about 155 pounds). This mat does not have a beveled lip around the edge, however. My old mat did, and I liked that. I thought that that would be a detraction, but it's not. NOTE: The mat is used on loop pile Berber carpeting, so its base is firm, and not overly plush like cut pile carpets. Time will tell if this mat is indeed "non-breakable." So far, it has met my expectations and stood true to the description of the product. UPDATE: It has now been over a year-and-a-half since I first wrote this review (it is now April 2019), and I'm pleased to announce that this product has truly withstood the test of time. I use this mat for several hours daily, and there has been no bowing, buckling or cracking under my chair casters, whatsoever. None at all (and I've, no doubt, put on a few pounds since first purchasing this). If you're looking for a dependable desk mat, I believe I can say with confidence that your search is over. 5-STARS – Recommended!
