It is easy to use with the ear option

The thermometer was shipped quickly and comes with a soft bag to store the thermometer. It is easy to use with the ear option. My little daughter is 18m old; whenever she is sick, she doesn't like it when we check her temperature. But she really likes this ear thermometer. She actually wants me put it in her ear and measure the temperature. So the problem is now solved! The reading is quick, the green light is for normal, and the red one - for fever. The cap is removed easily to enable the ear function. I highly recommended it. Every family should have one.

Great thermometer!

I’m very pleased with this. It came with batteries and a storage bag which I wasn’t expecting. I’ve had a forehead thermometer since my teenagers were babies but it is big and bulky and needed to be replaced. This one is much smaller and easier to store. I chose it because of the choice of ear or forehead. One of my sneaky teens figured out how to fool the forehead scanner so she could fake sick. I wanted to try the ear one to keep her from faking sick. So far she hasn’t been able to heat up that ear before I scan it, lol. I prefer the forehead scan for the non-fakers in the household. The readings seemed consistent. I wonder if the people who had inconsistent readings followed the instructions. Overall I’m very happy with this thermometer and the price was right.

It works, but... (2/19/2019 update)

(original review below) **update** I have bumped up my rating 2 stars (now 5 stars) partly because of the incredible customer service. Not only did metene pro-actively send us a replacement upon seeing the original review, but they also included another version of their thermometer. As for the replacement thermometer, the forehead part is right inline with the original, but with this one, I can easily pop the ear piece cover on and off. This is great because we can now do a quick scan or 2 on the forehead, and if we DO get a higher-reading, then we go with the higher confidence ear measurement. I actually like the replacement one better than the newer version, but greatly appreciate metene's above-and-beyond customer service. ============= (original review) OK, I'm actually a fan of this product. So why only 3 stars? While I'm glad we don't have to stick anything in the ear (or other places) of our 3 year old, the readings do tend to be incredibly variable. In 3 swipes, we might get 97, 98, and 99. Though experience, we've learned to take the highest of the 3 readings. Additionally, there IS supposed to be a way to use the ear piece if you want. We couldn't figure it out and looked online. Even with directions, we've been unable to pop off the mechanism without it feeling like it's going to break. So, we do get good use from it as intended, and we do like it.... But it unfortunately only gets 3 stars from us.

Worth the money!

This thermometer works so great! We have had one in the past where you have to drag it across the forehead and down my the ear however my son didn't do well with that one. This works perfect. You just have to put it on your forehead for a second and it grabs the temperature so quickly! I do like that you can also take the top off and able to use the tempature in the ear, however I think my go to method is going to be the forehead. Thanks for making taking care of a sick kid a little less painless!

I can’t tell you how many digital thermometers we have tried over the years. All grossly inaccurate and/or stopped working or broke quickly. This one appears very accurate. Just HOLD THE BUTTON DOWN as you move it slowly across your forehead...touching the skin...not over your hair. I took it into my last medical appointment and it matched the reading the nurse got from her device. It’s easy to use, and read the results. You don’t have to be a Geek to figure it out. Spouse learned...first try. It is made of light weight plastic. Only more time will tell how well it holds up, but no problem after a month. A child could easily break it. It does come with a storage pouch. Edited1-22-2019 : In response to "Inaccurate" and "Inconsistent" comments in other reviews. If I hold the button in, and pressing lightly to skin on forehead take 4 to 5 seconds to move it across forehead maintaining skin contact, both my wife and I find the readings to be very accurate and very consistent. Consistency is what really impresses me about this product. IF YOU BREAK SKIN CONTACT, GO TO FAST, OR RELEASE THE BUTTON EARLY YOU WILL GET BAD READINGS.

I like this thermometer

I like this thermometer, is quick and easy to use even for me who is electronically challenged. I love that it has the option of head or ear temp as well. The results are quick the screen is large and easy to read, i have a baby i i defiantly going to use it on him. also comes with a nice travel bag! thank you.

Works extremely well

I work in a rural ER where our thermometers are often difficult to find or not working if you can find one. I bought this thermometer out of desperation in the hope of reducing some of the enormous frustration I regularly encounter finding a thermometer that works. So far, this thermometer has been worth every penny of my investment. It is fast and it is accurate, as I have compared it many times with the results of an oral thermometer. The only precaution I can offer is that you wipe any perspiration off the"patient's" forehead prior to using it. My only hope is that it doesn't wear out rapidly. Thus far, I have used it over a month and I have not had to replace the batteries. If it does wear out I will almost certainly buy another, as having this little device in my pocket saves me enormous time that I can now devote to finding urinals and other essential supplies and equipment that are on "backorder." I hope the next model will be able to also operate as a TV remote contol, because that is also an "essential" piece of equipment that I can never find for our patients.

Easy to use digital thermometer. I opened up expecting I was going to need batteries and I love that it already came with them. Most items I purchase you have to supply your own batteries, so this was a pleasant surprise. Very easy to use and you get results quick. Came with a bag to store it in as well.

Accurate, quick, and easy to use thermometer

This is a nice little thermometer with lowest price point in the market with FDA and CE approvals. It is designed to be used in the ear or with the forehead. It is very fast in giving a reading, and it seems to be very accurate. We have tried it both forehead and ear methods and have gotten the same result, which is reassuring.I have compared its accuracy with the oral thermometers in the hospital rooms and this is usually off by only 0.2 degrees. This thermometer gives you a reading in 2 or 3 seconds and is much, much quicker than the oral thermometers in the hospitals. If the subject has a higher body temperature (exceed 99.5 F), then the screen flickers or sound 7 short ticks to indicate that the subject might have a fever. I recommend this product to anyone looking for a different thermometer.
