This really is an incredible product. I'm so happy that I came across this. I was going to order a sound machine/light that was either a third or half the cost, but after research, I decided to go w this one. First off the design is clean and beautiful. It can be used as a nightlight as well. The sounds are so crisp and soothing and realistic. The colors are beautiful. The sensor is insanely practical- along with the phone app to control. I've had this for 2 months. At first, I plugged it in and it didn't turn on. I thought it was broken and was pretty bummed. So I emailed the company explaining what was going on, and I received a reply almost immediately. Really- in the next hour maybe. Super soon.. so it turned out there's a small reset hole on the bottom or side I just had to poke it with a paper clip. I just moved my baby to her own room, but before that she was in a bassinet in our room. If she would wake in the middle of the night and cry, I would just change the static or rain sound to a lullaby FROM MY PHONE APP (Bluetooth) and she would by quiet and go back to sleep. I didn't have to get out of bed! I use this for my 7 month olds naptimes- I just tap the top and walk out of the room. I also set it for her to sleep at night without color and with the lullaby playing. I have my favorites preset- I loooove the colors and the rainbow option. They're constantly working to improve the product (I've received 2-3 emails either updating me on new software or them asking what they can do to improve.. it doesn't even need improvement but what they have changed/updated is amazing.. for example- a toddler option so toddlers can't change the settings or the sound scale so you can see how loud or how quiet the sound is. I can't say enough good things about this sound machine. And also, a phenomenal company. she and we both will get (and already get) a lot of use out of this, so the price really is a good investment.

Love this! Has helped my 2 year old sleep later, or stay quiet in his room longer. Positives: - Bluetooth app works great! Love being able to remotely control it. - Quick touch in the room makes it easy to turn it on to a setting right then and there. - He recognizes the colors! He even will point to it and say "yellow" when it's time to get up, letting me know he knows it's time to get up. - Has given me the confidence to switch to a toddler bed since he's learned his routine/schedule. - The white noise has helped him sleep through the night with his younger sister waking up and crying throughout the night! Negatives: - Sometimes he goes to bed earlier than the schedule has it set. I want to be able to go into the app and click a button to turn the schedule on early but instead I have to drag the sound/color sliders to the spots they're supposed to be, which of course I can never remember so I have to go into the schedule to see what I have it set as and then go back and manually set it. - I don't like the buttons on the bottom, I don't like having to pick it up to click the buttons. Personal notes: - I felt like $60 was a little much to spend on something like this but I really enjoy it. I love having the schedule so I don't have to mess with it when we go in the room. I only wish it had a camera built in!

After having one in our baby's room for 6 months we opted to add a second one in our toddler's room. They have proven reliable, soothing, and convenient. Variety of light colors and sounds available is appropriate. White noise helps the baby stay asleep when the dog is barking, neighbor takes his motorcycle for a spin, or the lawn mower is going outside. We generally keep her light quite low, but it's nice not walking into a pitch black room overnight. I also noticed that our toddler wakes up less frequently overnight with the Hatch in her room. It was an exciting novelty for her at first, being able to choose which color and sound she wanted in her room. She knows that she can get out of bed when the light turns green in the morning, so that feature is one that I think most parents of toddlers will appreciate. She's not a fan of thunder and prefers some light when she goes to bed, so this has been helpful for both. Also makes it easier for us to slip in quietly to pull the covers back up or turn down the air conditioner without waking her. As for the data collection, it's not something that concerns me personally. We use a different app to log feedings, sleep patterns, etc. I certainly understand why some find it alarming, but at this point what isn't collecting data about us daily? I'm sure the disclaimer is buried somewhere in the terms of service. Up to you if you find that bothersome or not, but if you are reasonably comfortable with it, I think you will find the Hatch quite helpful from infancy through pre-school. Update (6/1/18): The company conducted an analysis remotely and determined that one of our units (our first) was from a batch that periodically would fade in and out when playing sound. I noticed it myself on occasion, but it was infrequent, brief, and never woke the baby. They reached out to us and offered to replace the unit free of charge. In addition, we were able to keep the defective unit. We opted to put it in our own bedroom for white noise. Replacement was quick and I felt it was a positive and proactive step from a customer service standpoint.

I would like to start off by saying I very rarely give reviews; there needs to be something significantly flawed with a product, or something that exceedingly surpasses my expectations for me to take time out of my day to review a product. I have now had the Hatch Baby Rest Night Light for about 6 months. We started using it when we decided to sleep train our toddler. It works perfectly and is really easy to use and set-up. I really like the app; I was easily able to customize everything for when he sleeps, wakes, and his nap time. For his night light, I used a soft amber color and in the morning I have it switch to green when he should be waking up. I think he is just now starting to grasp the concept of the colors, but I can see it being a lot more helpful in the near future. I saw some reviews stating that the white noise was louder than they had wanted it to be, but I did not find that to be the case with me. You can easily control the volume of the sound and the brightness of the light with multiple colors. That being said, here is why this product gets 5 stars. 6 months after I had purchased the night light I received an email from the company with the subject line "Can we send you a new Hatch Baby Rest?" At first I thought it was junk but then I started reading and here is a little bit of the email I received: "When your Hatch Baby Rest app connects to Rest, it runs a quick diagnostics check to make sure everything is working correctly. When running this routine check on your Rest named "Hatch Rest", we were alerted to a problem with the sound on your device. You may not have even noticed it - but we'd like to send you a free replacement. It's so important to us that your family's sleep routine stays on track. Please enter your shipping information on the form below and we will send a replacement Rest ASAP." I clicked on a link which prompted me to fill out my shipping address and a few days later I received the new Hatch. I honestly did not believe it until the new one showed up at my door. I didn't even notice that there was a glitch with my old one. Obviously this company cares about their customers and the quality of their product which I find to be extremely rare. Thank you Hatch Baby, 5 stars is not enough!!!!!

This is my first ever Amazon review, but I loved this product so much that I felt I had to share my experience! I bought this out of sheer desperation simply for the “ok to wake” function. My 18 month old had been waking between 5 and 6am for over 6 months, and literally nothing I did helped him sleep any later. We already had a cheap white noise machine, so when I first heard of this product, I balked at the price, thinking I didn’t need it for the other features. I first purchased a cheaper “ok to wake” product, but found it difficult to operate, and poorly designed and made. I finally purchased the Hatch Rest, thinking if it didn’t work out, at least Amazon would let me return it. Now, I had serious doubts about my 18 month old’s ability to understand and abide by the “ok to wake” concept. But mom needs a little time to herself in the morning, so I was willing to give it a shot despite my reservations. The beauty of this product is the app and Bluetooth capability. I set the clock for 6am the first night and told my son that when the light turned green in the morning, he could get up for the day. For the record, my 18 month old can only say about 10 words... but he seems to comprehend a lot. The next morning, he woke at 5:30. I wasn’t about to let him cry for 30 long minutes, so I opened the app, changed the wake up time to 5:35, and then when the light turned on, went into his room and did a big dramatic wake up. I said, “look, your light is green, that means it’s time to wake up!” I then turned on the lights, threw open the curtains... made a big deal of it. Over the next few days, I gradually set the clock back little by little, and he started sleeping a little later each day. After a week, I was able to set the clock to 7:30 (my ideal wake up time for him). He woke the first few days a little earlier, and I would just tell him through the baby monitor talk function that his light wasn’t green, and I kid you not— he laid down and went back to sleep until the light came on. Now if he wakes a few minutes early, he just plays in his crib and waits for the light. I can’t believe that this worked, but it did. And now I feel like I have to spread the word! I actually loved this so much, that I bought a 2nd one for my 3 year old. He loves it. He plays in his room until his light comes on at 7:30, and also stays in his room to play or look at books during “quiet time” in the afternoon. He loves choosing a nightlight color and sound on the app every night. I truly cannot say enough positive things about this product... try it!

There are several sound machines in my house, but this is by far my favorite one – we even bring it on trips. The app is super easy to use. I programmed the settings so that the nursery is set for bedtime light/sound when baby's bedtime rolls around every night. The sounds are soothing, especially the waves one, that I bring it on trips so baby has a consistent noise environment. If I have to change baby's diaper in the middle of the night, I light it at the lowest levels, and it's pretty easy to see without waking baby up too much. Though it's a pricier than other sound machines, the Ok to Wake function makes it worth it. I can see this being used for years and years. I love this so much, I would easily give it as a baby shower gift.

Are you an anal retentive mother like me? Then boy, do I have the product for you! I spent a lot of time researching sound machines and initially purchased this for our newborn. It worked great for nighttime feedings as you can adjust the light brightness from your phone. Have a big blowout that occurred at 2am? Fear not. This light will get you through that changing without having to wake the baby with bright overhead lights. BUT enough about the baby.. we also have a 4 year old who thinks sleeping is for the birds. He would rather run laps through our house at 3am than sleep like normal human beings. So we recently moved this sound machine into his room as it works as an Ok-To-Wake machine. We color coordinate for times to wake up and when to stay in bed. If he wakes up crying at 3am complaining that he’s bored, I simply crank up the white noise (at a reasonable decibel), drown out his cries, and pray he falls back asleep. So far it’s worked like a charm! Now, I schedule my children’s daily feedings and naps Kate Gosselin style, so this sound machine fits the bill. You can program it for certain times of the day and train your children to see the light and act accordingly. There are other cool features such as simply touching it with your finger to turn on and you can play your favorite settings all with the touch of a finger. I did order a different sound machine for my daughter’s room but will be switching back to the Hatch (*wink wink Hatch company). It provides much more light for feedings and the white noise is not as harsh as other machines I have had.

We love our sound/light machines. Both of our girls each have one and I cannot tell you how many times they have come in handy. When one of our girls has difficulty going to sleep or wakes up in the middle of the night I can easily turn on the other child's sound machine with the use of the app on my phone. This way I do not wake anyone up by entering the room. I can also start the volume on low so I don't wake them and gradually increase the volume. We have used it to set a program for our oldest daughter. We have it set to turn green at a certain time each morning so she knows when it is okay to come out of her room each morning. I also have it set to turn off after so long so we don't have to remember to turn it off. We have taken it with us while on vacation to block out other noises while our children sleep. It works very well! I had one issue with getting locked out of the app after an update. I emailed their customer support and I received assistance immediately. The issue was resolved right away. There are several light and sound options. Pictures are added for reference. The only feature I wish would change is that you have to turn on your location in order to use the app on your Android. I try to avoid turning on my location so when I use the camera on my phone I do not have a gps tag on the pictures of my children. I often forget to turn off my location so I hope that in the future you will not need to turn on your location in order to use the app.

We love this already! It is absolutely beautiful in our modern nursery. I love that when the time comes for the OK to Wake clock, we won't have an ugly ansimal shaped alarm clock. I wish we could add music from our phones to play through, but there are plenty of sound options. The color choices are endless, but I do wish it could be slightly less bright than the lowest setting. Overall in love and recommending it to everyone we know.
