I didn't use SD cards much before i got my quadcopter but since then I keep this little card reader on me all the time. Its great and more strudy than others i've had. It hasn't broken in my pocket after a few weeks so that's a pretty good run in my experience. I get lots of comments on how cool it is and it does honestly make my phone feel more powerful since i can skip the computer for yet another task. One thing is don't leave it plugged into your phone for extended periods of time when you're not using it. I did this yesterday and the thing got very, very hot. I let it cool and both the card and the reader are fine but just a word of warning.

Pretty simple product works very well- fast and no fuss with my new mac book pro. I wanted to say though that in the box is a thank you card from Unitek. Nothing fancy but it was still pretty nice to see. I get it its a bog company they toss it in the box but the simple fact that as a company they had the idea.- they aproved it- found someone to print it and made a policy to put it in the darn box. Simple right? Actually it isn’t I work for a big multi national and I know how this stuff works and I like that they did this because in 2018, I can’t remember the last time that a company did that and I dig it. I’ll keep an eye out and if I see something I need that they make I’ll buy it. Very nice touch Unitek nicely done

My husband swears by his android.. However, as much as he loves his Samsung, he doesn't love that the memory fills up so quickly. He's constantly taking videos of our son with his phone and this allows him to easily transfer them from his phone to his laptop so that the memory on his phone can stay clear.

Since I don't use compact flash cards (only SD cards), this reader is significantly larger than it needs to be for my personal usage. Other than that, I don't have any complaints. I simply could not find a reasonably-priced reader (e.g. SanDisk) that read only SD cards, so I bought this one. So it's not fair to mark this one down because of its necessary size .

Below is my original review. The tech support by the Unitek people was fast and very good. In the end, I "solved" my problem by installing software to monitor USB messages. Under scrutiny, everything behaves. So, for now, that solves the problem. The real problem would have to be diagnosed with sniffer hardware and will likely be a driver (operating system) issue. ====== I expected to be able to write data with this interface, too. No go: # mount -orw /dev/sdg1 /mnt/usb-disk FUSE exfat 1.2.8 WARN: '/dev/sdg1' is write-protected, mounting read-only. when the card is put into another reader, no problem.

I needed a reader that was able to accommodate compact flash and SD memory cards. I found this and liked that it was USB-C so I didn't need to worry about a USB adapter for the interface to my MacBook Pro. The price was reasonable too. The housing is metal and the cable looks durable. I have had no problems with it reading my cards. I use it to transfer photos from my cameras and it's small and light to travel with.

So far, so good. I have a new MacBook Pro (June2017) that has only USB-C. I usually take my laptop when I travel and when I take pictures, I need to have a way to transfer those image files to my laptop, or to a portable drive (via my computer). This works great so far, seems solidly built and gets the job done. I still wish the new MBP had an SD card slot, but this allows me to also load CF cards - a plus.

I upgraded (and I'm using the term loosely) to a Galaxy Note 5 from a Note 3 and to my surprise (okay so it's my fault for assuming it would actually BE an upgrade), there is no internal capability for increasing storage (a micro card slot) inside the phone. So, I needed to buy an external device to accommodate my needs; this little Reader works great. It's small and unobtrusive; would not be something that you could leave plugged into the phone of course (unless you are really, really careful - plugs into the charging jack), but it does the job nicely.

Cleverly designed product. microSD card fits into the full-sized USB end thus saving space. Works well with a Samsung Pro 64GB card (80MBps+, NTFS formatted). If you need to transfer lots of GB at a time, I recommend having a second microSD reader that offers USB 3.0, otherwise you'll be transferring at USB 2.0 speeds -- potentially an hour or more. Having a blinking transfer light is both good and bad. I like that I can see the device working and the pace of the transfers. I don't like it blinking when I've plugged it into my Windows 8.1 tablet to watch a movie. I'm watching Blu-Ray ISO rips off the microSD watching on my HP Stream 7 tablet. Works great.

Looks great, works perfectly. Reliable performance and fast transfer of large photo and video files to my 2016 MacBook Pro. A bit larger, and with a bulkier cord, than my old card reader, but it's still small enough to fit in my travel accessories bag. Delightfully packaged - came with a tiny, beautifully designed red thank-you note. The small plain brown carton is scented with sandalwood. (Really! After several weeks, the box is still on my desk because it smells so nice.)
