After spending 2.5 years dealing with the crap modem from Comcast/XFinity, I finally took the leap. After reading up for a couple weeks on which cable modem/router combo would be best, I narrowed the list down to 2 different items. On the model that Comcast/XFinity "leases" to me, I very rarely got transfer speeds anywhere near the 125Mb/s that I was paying for. I was averaging almost half of that, at 59.78Mb/s. According to Comcast, it was due to the amount of people in my area that were using their internet service. After disabling the "guest" account that Comcast forces on people (yeah, they say it doesn't affect your speeds, but they lie) the average improved to almost 70Mb/s, but still no where near the 125Mb/s. Enter the ASUS CM-32... Setup: Honestly, the setup out of the box was extremely simple... plug it in, attach the coax to the back, wait about 5 minutes and then log into the device and go to Comcast's activation site, enter my account info and wait a few minutes again. While it was simple, ASUS' instructions were incorrect... they stated to go to "router.asus.com" but apparently that is no longer the supported method. Having experience with this, I immediately entered the IP address of the device (mine defaulted to 192.168.1.1) and boom, the initial setup screen appeared! After it was all said and done, the process from start to finish took all of 20 minutes! Performance: Holy transfer speeds batman! I spent most of the first day running speed tests every hour or so and I'm averaging 117Mb/s... effectively double what I was getting using the default equipment from Comcast. Internal network performance has vastly improved as well (I have 1 computer, a NAS, 2 tablets, 2 smartphones, a PS4, and a Smart TV connected) with no noticeable drop in transfer speeds while streaming Netflix or utilizing Plex. While I haven't been running this device for a long duration, it's already out performing Comcast's equipment to the point that I will NEVER again "rent" from them. There were 2 minor issues... the first, like I said, the instructions were slightly incorrect with how to connect to the device. The second issue, and this is kind of nit-picky... there were a couple of typos in the setup screens (siNg instead of sigN being the most prominent). Final thoughts: I'm definitely impressed with the ASUS... from how easy it was to connect and setup to how well it performs. This is definitely one solid device. If you are looking to move away from Comcast's craptastic equipment, I would whole-heartedly suggest that you bite the bullet and purchase this device.

Absolutely awesome cable modem and router. It actually out performed the latest generation of modems provided by xfinity. The GUI is easy to use and has lots of enterprise features. I highly recommend for anyone looking for a great cable modem, that performs and wants granular control over their network.

Setup was extremely easy, took maybe 5 minutes to get up and running. My old asus t-mobile router had a firmware bug restricting my download speed to 125mbps for some reason. Decided f it and upgraded now im getting almost 500mbps down and 25 up so far no issues.

So after 6 weeks of issues with my internet and countless hours on the phone with Spectrum support and field tech's, several of the escalation senior resources recommended that I purchase my own hardware. Reason being...I work from home and dial into a VPN connection everyday all day and they have decided (without informing customers) that they were no longer going to support VPN on residential accounts. The Support person said that I should go Asus since it was one of the few routers that supported Cisco Anyconnect. Purchased and came within 2 days. Put the antennas on, plugged it in a called into Spectrum for what SHOULD have been no more than a 15 minute call.... well, 2 1/2 hours later... when they changed the code from "spectrum owned" to "customer owned", the wifi went down immediately. Not sure what Spectrum is doing these days but I had to upgrade to business class to get back to my job. With business class, you actually get upgraded hardware but you HAVE to use their hardware. Unfortunately, this one is going back. I think it worked great while Spectrum "owned" the equipment in their systems. Very fast. Just don't have time to try to make it work.

I purchased the ASUS CM-32 to replace the Xfinity Gateway due to poor wifi performance to my Ring Floodlight Cam and Ring Doorbell. This completely solved my wifi issue. I'm a PC gamer and this device is a lot faster than what Xfinity provided. Cabled and wifi speeds are much faster and the range is excellent. The only issue I have is that the new wireless Xi5 cable boxes from Xfinity will not work with this or any other 3rd party modem. They will only work with the provided Xfinity gateway they install. I spent quite a bit of time last night with Xfinity support because my wireless cable box wouldn't work and that's when they informed me it never will unless I use their gateway! Now I have to have a tech come in to install a cabled box. Small price to pay for better performance and a much better wifi signal.

So far so good. Had no significant issues with installation. I did change a couple of settings, but the user interface is designed for the average end user, so even I was able to accomplish what I wanted. Followed the directions, set it all up locally, called my ISP (Spectrum,) and a couple minutes later I was downloading porn like my POS, three year old Motorola was never even stinkin' up the joint.

This modem/router lets you stop paying a monthly rental fee to your cable company, so it pays for itself in a year or so. Besides that, the Wi-Fi signal is much stronger than the Comcast's modem/router, and reaches to all floors in our house with excellent speed. The set-up will go smoothly *IF* you write down or photograph all the numbers on the bottom of the product before you start the set-up. I did not know to do that and it made my set-up much more difficult than it needed to be. :-( Still, I am very satisfied with the Asus DOCSIS 3.0 and I recommend it highly to anyone who has weak Wi-Fi signal in some rooms of their home. Problem solved!

I purchased this product because of the VPN service on the router, I have a smart home and my debit card information has been hacked 3 times within a year, not to mention the continues hacking I am subjected to everyday that I access the web, this router is GREAT!!! I absolutely love it, I installed my VPN subscription on the router, only to find out that Amazon prime is a GEO Blocker and does not support VPN servers!!! So I called amazon to ask them why they don't support VPN servers and basically they support the hackers but not their customers who need to protect their families and smart home from hackers. I love this router though, it is very sophisticated and does the job to protect my home and family, thank you Asus!!!

be aware this router does not support phone so if you still have a home phone you will need something else. otherwise this is the the one you should get its great, fast and looks cool, little thing that I really appreciate is that there is a button on there to turn off the flashing status lights so you don't need to worry about the distraction or the colors.

So every time I went to Fry's, Walmart, and Best Buy I always asked what is the best Modem/Router and the same answer was always Net-Gear. So I purchase a Net-Gear Router/Modem and it was Terrible. I always had a bad connection with WiFi and Ethernet. The connection was always low and dropped all the time, ranging 30 mbps down and 5 up on WiFi. Also I would have my phone next to the router and still 30 down and 5 up connection. On Ethernet the connection was 210 down and 10 up but I had to restart my Net-Gear Modem because my connection would drop all the time. So I decided it was time to make my own decision what brand I wanted. I choose Asus Because I never had a problem with there products. I looked on this Amazon page and saw it had 3 stars which surprised me because I never had problems with them. So I ordered the Asus Modem Router anyway. It was delivered in 2 days with no damage at all. I than called my internet provider and install was easy and simple by screwing on the antennas and plugging it in, while they activated it. I than accessed my Router setting and set my router name and password for it. The Asus interface was simple easy to use it took me 2 mins to set my password and router name. I than went to speedtest.com and tested my connection i got 213 mbps and 11 upload, above average with my provider using Ethernet. I than tested 5g, I have a 3 story home and the Asus Modem/Router was installed on the 3rd floor. On the 3rd floor I got 211 down and 10 up, On the 2nd floor I got 196 down and 10 up, and last the 1st floor I got 173 down and 8 up. In conclusion I love this Modem/Router I have not had any dropped connections and it works wonderfully. If anyone ever wants to by a modem/Router I will recommend the Asus brand as the best one.
