Worked like a charm on my 2009 Tacoma calipers. Was able to spread the pads enough, then get the paddles on the gadget to rest on the old pad material to evenly compress the caliper. Recommend putting a little lubrication oil on the moving parts to help you keep the smooth function of the tool. Saved over $15 on the same tool from buying at local big box auto store.

Simple and effective. This helped make a brake pad swap fast enough to do it between track sessions (~1 hour for all brakes) with hand tools (just the stuff I can fit in the tiny trunk of my 370Z). Tip: open the bleeder bolt (with a drain hose to a discard bottle) while spreading the slave pistons with this tool. Draining out a few dollars worth of fluid makes it much faster to spread out the pistons, especially on calipers with multiple pairs of pistons. And, more importantly, it avoids overflowing the brake fluid reservoir from fluid getting pushed back up the lines. Be sure not to let any air back up into the caliper, by only opening the bleeder bolt while you're spreading. Then, after installing the new pads, and BEFORE stepping on the brake pedal, top up the brake fluid reservoir. If you've got a vacuum bleeder, you can suck the reservoir dry first, before topping it off. Get rid of as much old fluid as possible. At that point, you can either finish bleeding the system, or just keep topping off the reservoir as you pump the brakes to push the pistons back out.

Made the brake job on my 03 taco 50% quicker. It beats the screw driver method to push out the caliper pistons.

The spreader will close down to where the max thickness are the two metal plates; this would work on smaller calipers such as a motorcycle as well. the point hex will accept a 3/8" drive, so you can use a rachet to collapse / expand the tool in addition to the built in handle

If you’re looking for a simple yet incredibly effective automotive tool...this is it. I have a ‘14 Challenger with dual piston brakes and this was by far the smoothest brake job I’ve done. All you have to do is put the tool in the caliper, hold steady, and twist. Easy, inexpensive, durable tool.

this tool will make your life a lot easier when replacing the break pats on a vehicle , special if you have painted calipers and you dont want to scratch anything

I am exceptionally pleased with this tool. It was just what I needed to retract the front disc brake caliper piston on my 1979 VW Westy. I found the construction of the tool to be strong and durable. I highly recommend this to anyone looking to service older style disc brakes.

Worked really well for pressing the caliper pistons back. Worked on my truck and my wife’s car. Seams to be pretty well made. Seemed to work better then a c clamp. Glad I bought this. Only advise I would have is on calipers with dule pistons push one back at a time then position it so you can push both pistons at the same time. I also like that you can use a ratchet to press the pistons back.

Worth every penny and then some. Best tool I ever bought for brakes. Use this on my FJR1300 (2006) and it made resetting the piston so simple it was amazing.

Used this to push back the pistons on Brembo Brake Calipers. This was on a 2006 Acura TL.
