Great kite, get heavier line

I took this kite out on a day when the wind was averaging about 12mph and gusting over 20. It went up right away and man does it look fabulous. This kite makes people stop and stare. Shortly after I put it in the air, a group of little girls came running breathless from the adjacent playground and shouted, "You are so COOL!" So that made the purchase price right there. Thanks, ladies! But the string broke soon after. This is a big kite and well-designed, so it really catches the wind, and when the wind gusts, this kite *pulls*. So the string broke, and I went on an unplanned 300 yard jog to retrieve it. I got out some heavier line and used it instead; that broke too. This time, I clenched head to food when I saw the kite brush against, and miraculously not get stuck in, a very tall tree. Instead it wrapped itself around a very small tree. Whew! Lesson learned: I'm ordering some 120# line just be sure, at least when it's gusty.

Great! Buuuut HEAVY...

So much fun! Bring out the kid in your spouse. At first everyone thought a kite was lame but it turned out to be the star of the beach trip. WARNING: it definitely is heavy once you get some wind into it, it’s hard for anyone until 12 to hold on to.

HUGE Kite That Flys Super Easy

I bought this kite for my little girls to use this summer. We went camping near a small lake which had a slight breeze blowing over it. This kite was able to stay up with little to no wind. I was very surprised as this kite is HUGE. I have never seen anything like it. It folds into a small bag to ge stored in and there is plenty of string on the line. I don't see why you would need to purchase any more line than what comes with the kite. The tail is super long. It seems very well made, which makes me feel confident in the durability. I won't be buying those lame plastic kites that tear and the frame punctures through anymore. I am glad I found this kite. It is really easy to fly. The handle the string is stored on is large enough to fit an adult's hand and can be anchored to a branch/stick/pole easily. My kids were impressed at high it flew. I am more than satisfied.

Great Kite For the Money

I had been thinking about buying this for a while and finally pulled the trigger. I'm really glad I did. I took this out on a day when the winds were a little light, about 8 mph. This thing flew great and I was able to stake it down and forget it all afternoon. We had a couple of lulls where it came down, but both times it self re-launched again without my interference. I really like this kite, and I look forward to flying it a lot. There are a couple of things you need to know. 1. Assume the line is junk. I did not use the provided line, I have plenty of nice line. Some folks have posted with bad experiences with the line and this is not surprising. Do yourself a favor and buy some good quality line. Take care of your line and it will take care of you. Yes, I still give this kite 5 stars even though the provided line is not good quality. The kite itself was that good. 2. There are no instructions. This appears to have made several people quite angry. You should not need instructions. The bridle on mine came tied to a little white tag on the nose of the kite. Simply untie it from this tag and attach your line and the tail and you're in the air. There really is only one way to attach it. I use a lark's head knot to attach the line to the tow point on the bridle. Your best bet to see how to do that is to check out a youtube video but in my opinion, it's the best way to attach flying line to virtually any kite. I don't mess around with fishing swivels. 3. You NEED to use the tail. The kite will likely be too crazy without it. The drogue tail that comes with it is not the highest quality. You get what you pay for. This entire rig costs less than a good quality tail. For the price, the tail is pretty decent. If you want a nice tail, be prepared to open your wallet a little more.

A Big Hit!!

A big hit at the beach. We had people strolling by all day admiring it and asking questions about where we got it. A group of young teens were even admiring it. After we got it up high enough it was stable and we put the string under a big bag of sand to hold it for us so we could enjoy our day at the beach. Most people identified it as an upside down shark since the mouth is above the eye and it has a more shark shaped head. The small trailing kite makes the shark appear to "Swim" by moving it back and forth in the sky. This feature is a real bonus as it give the kite a realistic movement in the sky and adds to its interest. The one thing I did change after flying it the first time, was to put one of those small metal rotating clasps for the attachment of the tiny tail kite as it rotates constantly and the string was all twisted up when we brought it down the first time. I highly recommend this kite, and you can't beat the price for the fun everyone had at the beach.

This is my only 2nd time flying a kite, but I had a complete blast!! The wind was crazy and I was worried that the string might break, like other people had said, but it was fine. I never let the whole string run out... like I said 2nd time flying! But it's perfect for me!! The few people at the park enjoyed seeing it at well!

This is a fantastic kite at a fantastic value

This is a fantastic kite at a fantastic value! It is so easy to fly in most any kind of wind. If it does crash, it self launches again with just a little pull of the string! The best is that in stronger wind it loops and dances as if it was a trick kite a stays up for a long time! In moderate consistent wind it would probably stay up for as long as you wish. You could stake it down and just relax if you wanted! It's a big and beautiful kite too! My kids really loved it.
