First, this camera can be switched to either have the red, yellow, green distance lines on or off. They don't show them in the pictures in the add, but they can be on or not, the choice is up to you. I thought that was a great feature. The camera can be rotated for mounting up, down, left, right or how ever you want around your license plate. For those that whine about no install instructions, how is the company supposed to write a million different ways to install on thousands of different vehicles. I mounted mine on a 2007 Volvo S80. If you know that car, it is long and wide. There was enough cable to route from the monitor in the middle of the dash down the passenger side, cross under the rear seat, and back to the driver's tail light with at least three feet of cable to spare. The cable on the camera was long enough to route from license plate to the corner of the trunk deck lid out the factory wiring hole into the body and to the tail light to meet up with the cable from the monitor. The wire is so small that I only had to take out the back seat, and one side of the trunk to run it. I was able to use plastic tools to push it between the dash and windshield, down the side trim, in between the carpet and door trim. I wouldn't have had to pull the back seat if I didn't want to go under it. All you need is a little common sense, small plastic scraper, and pliers (to crimp the wire connection provided), and wire cutters to dress up the zip ties. Figure out where you want the monitor, (for those of you where the license plate moves with the trunk lid, where is the factory wire to follow), then run the wire from there to the trunk so you can bundle up the excess behind the cover in the trunk. This camera is much better and less obtrusive than the others in this price range. It does extremely well in low light. Doesn't need excess LED's to light up your path. My reverse lights provide more than enough light to use. So unless you don't keep up your maintenance on your car you won't have problems with this camera. Remember, you only care about the three feet directly behind you, not your neighbor's driveway.

I like this camera for its picture quality. However, after 6-8 months, the material on the suction cup turned to goo and makes the product unusable. It now just hangs off my dashboard. At first I had some issues with distortion on the camera. As soon as I put the car in reverse, it would get really grainy and lines would appear on the display. I worked with the seller to get a filter for the camera and the problem was resolved. Updating my review: The customer service provided by these guys is great. Will from AutoVox keeps checking in to make sure I received a new bracket and that it's working for me...even long after the original purchase. New bracket seems to work great. Thank you. Pros: Picture quality Screen size is good, non-obtrusive Low light works just fine Cons: Suction cup has a plastic pad that turned to goo and renders the product unusable Running wiring through your car is difficult (and will be with any wired camera) Instructions on how to use quick connectors stink. Didn't figure it out until I had one wire left

Over the last several days I’ve been having conversation with Auto-Vox about their M1 backup camera. My unit would come on and drop off line. Come to find out they had some minor problems with a few units. They sent me a new unit with several links to YouTube on installation. I want to commend them on their customer service. They were informative on a solution with help on checking out the unit. Today I installed my back up camera is less then an hour. Great YouTube instructions. I would recommend this product and and support.

If you are looking for outstanding quality at an unbelievable price...Buy This! Some companies build high quality products and sell for an affordable price. This is one of them. I've seen people pay 2-3 more and get much less. The screen is crystal clear, slightly fuzzy at night but still clear and easy to see. Better yet the installation is what I would call very simple for someone who is handy and easy for someone who is not(which is me) Works perfectly in my 2012 Dodge Avenger. Hooked up to my back up light, so it only goes on when in reverse. And most amazing, everything still works! This is an unsolicited review. Usually Amazon sends me several requests for a review,, but don't recall ever getting one. However, I think this a great product. Don' let the low price fool you this is a quality product. If you can change your tail light, you can install this product!

This is the one to get. I love the one plug wire instead of running two wires. It came with just enough wire to make it to the dash in a Ford Escape 2008. The cable splice clips worked perfectly. My dash is rough so I attached monitor to windshield glass (seems to be fine so far). As you run the wire from the back to the front, you may have to tuck it under trim, but it wasn't too bad. Bought a cheaper one at first, installed it, and it stopped working the second day. Auto Vox seems like a better product. Will keep buyers updated as I go.

Update: *** Auto- Box contacted me back and sent me a new camera with a anit-interference for my camera. It helped out a lot and I love it, thank you Auto-Vox.

Purchased to install on a 2007 Toyota Highlander. The camera/monitor system is very simple in concept which was the primary reason for my choice. Mount backup camera, tap into reverse light wire for power, run cable to monitor mounted on dash or windshield. You can even select between options of showing with backup "grid" or without. There is a little toggle switch on the "connection" box (little black box where the power wire and video cable meet). What took the longest was removing all the liftgate components for me to cleanly run the wire from outside/in. Whole process took about 4 hours including looking up all the "how to" removing trim panels and pieces on various youtube videos. Was able to able to completely hide the wiring in existing looms or rubber boots going from the exterior of the liftgate into the rear cabin of the Highlander, tapped into the reverse power wire on the drivers rear side, and then ran the video cable up the drivers side under various trim panels. Monitor turned right on when putting it into reverse. Good rear coverage, and happy with the product.

Just finished installing my new M1 Backup Camera. Out of the box its all fairly simple. Very few parts and the diagram on the instructions is pretty clear. I drive a 2004 Chevy Trailblazer EXT and I was concerned that the cable from the camera to the monitor would not be long enough, but it was with plenty left over. After the installation was complete I gave it a test run and I was very impressed at how clear the picture was. Very nice. The only issue that I had with this camera package was that the wires that go from the camera to the backup light wires for power were not long enough so I had to do some splicing to make them longer. I have a lift gate so its a longer distance than the average vehicle. Not a major issue but having to run to the store in the middle of the install was time consuming. After all is said and done, I am very pleased with this camera and for the money I would definitely recommend.
