• RUGGED AND DURABLE FRAME: Shankly’s heavy duty spring compressor for struts and coil springs reduces tool flexing, bending, and warping, providing confidence to the mechanic.
  • LARGE CARS AND TRUCKS, NO PROBLEM: Many coil spring compressor tools slip and buckle under high tension, Shankly’s heavy duty spring compressor tool bears 1000 kg maximum capacity per pair. Ideal solution for larger vehicles.
  • STRONG AND SECURE HOOKS REDUCE SLIPPAGE: Avoid strut compressors with flimsy hooks creating slippage and other safety problems. Shankly’s coil compressor hooks grip springs tightly by turning easy to use hex nuts.
  • UNIVERSAL COMPRESSOR TOOL: Wide jaw capacity (23 mm - 280 mm) make Shankly’s coil spring compressor tool is ideal for a range of vehicles, assisting the mechanic with years of compression jobs.
  • IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS: Coil spring tool work can be dangerous. Shankly’s strut spring compressors feature lower security jaws, adjustable safety bars and a safety guard to reduce work site perils. GREASE THREADS WELL TO PRESERVE THREADS AND AVOID STRIPPING. DO NOT USE IMPACT GUN TO TIGHTEN, APPLY EVEN PRESSURE TO BOTH BY HAND USING A RATCHET WRENCH.

Like others have said, this is far easier, sturdier, and smoother than the rental spring compresser. I was able to fit the claws on the spring with the strut still installed. Made my job very time efficient.

The extra clamps ensure that there is no way the spring will slip off once adjusted. I showed them to my local mechanic he was so impressed with them compared to other portable compressors he said he wanted to buy a set. These have more safety features and are better built than an average compressor and the case is useful.

This is a quality product if used correctly. Never use a impact gun with these, its even stated in my Toyota factory manuals to NOT use an impact gun of any type on these devices. I use gun oil and white lithium grease to first lube the threads, and this will operate very smoothly for a lifetime. Very easy to adjust with simple ratchet. Loose the piece in the lid and remove the round black anchors, don't worry bottom clamps hold secure for safety. I am a retired Certified ASE mechanic, and this works as good as any.

Bought these to compress Shock Therapy Springs for and RZR Turbo. The Shock Therapy springs are much taller than stock. This tool is perfect to get them compressed to get the shock assembled. Does not scuff up the powder coat on the new springs.

Tips to use this for safety on larger size vehicle such as suv and trucks. 1. Buy 2 pairs or have another set of different brand to support it. 2. HEAVILY GREASE THE ENTIRE SCREW THREAD TWICE. One the day before and again the day of use. Make sure you screw it all the way back in and let it soak over night. I used STP moly-ep grease (thick black) to grease all of it. Instructions say to use hand tools but when I did that it took forever to compress. With 4 compressors on the spring and heavily greased I used an m12 1/2 Milwaukee ratchet to fasten the process after an initial 1/4 the way using hand tools. When the job was done no thread was stripped or broken from using a power tool due to proper greasing of the threads. Do not use power tools without a second set of compressors and grease.

I used these to install coil springs on a strut for my 2008 tundra. These aren’t any coil springs, but IronMan 4x4 foam cell pros from Australia which are incredibly beefy. I greased the bolt with axle grease and used only hand tools, no impacts and it worked great. My other McPherson strut type compressor (the long all thread type) was not up to this challenge and it would’ve killed someone.

i love it first didn't know if it will work with the car I was planning to been working. last time I buy other brand and didn't work for small springs so I was a little exeptical on this one but just take a risk on this one. and I'm glad to do it its amazing. So today I used on my 88 civic wagon rt4wd swaping the oem springs for eibach ones and they really save time and money tomorrow I will finish the job and I will recommend to everyone who likes to do small jobs at home. It is a very handful tool. Also no instructions on how to use it but not too difficult to find out. I lubricate the parts just when I open the case and I let it lubricate for couple minutes and I start using it seem it will last for a long time if you take care of the tools now I can do struts jobs to the other cars we have with out hurting my wallet as If I take it to any shop. so I will update this review but on the beginning looks great3

After renting a spring compressor to replace a strut once before, and having a difficult time getting it to compress, even with an impact wrench and watching the compressor flex, I purchased this spring compressor for my next strut job. It is night and day difference in how secure it holds as well as how easy it was to compress the spring. There was no flexing either. I took the advise of others and greased the threads prior to use, and using two socket wrenches, me and a buddy cranked each side at the same time without any effort. This made compressing the coil the easiest part of a strut replacement job.

I had this set and the standard 'bolt type' (that you can rent from your local auto parts store) ready when I did the suspension on my M3. I'm glad I ended up getting this set, they worked a lot better than the auto parts store type. The jaws grab onto the spring much more securely. The low profile came in handy because of the strange/annoying suspension design on this car (E46 M3) that require the spring to be compressed just to get the assembly off the car. The auto part store type wouldn't fit into the strut tower to remove the assembly. So it's a really good thing these showed up after being lost by OnTrac.

I bought this spring compressor set to upgrade the struts on my 2018 Silverado 1500. I had first attempted to use the rentable set from the local automotive supply. Those were very scary. They would bend under the tension of the truck springs. I ordered these and they are incredible! I agree with the others, DO NOT USE AN IMPACT! It says it in the paperwork that comes with these. I used a ratchet and slowly and evenly cranked them down. Very little effort required. I felt extremely safe throughout the whole process. Thank you for giving me the ability to confidently disassemble struts. These are so far the best spring compressors I have found in this style for full size truck springs.
