Brand new and barely broken in, it's probably a little early to be writing a review, but I'm already super-pleased with this bread machine. Why I chose this machine: 1. Customer reviews 2. Good reports about customer service 3. Two-year warranty 4. The ability to make a one-pound as well as 1 1/2 and 2-pound loaf 5. It has so many options Why I like it now: 1. Customer service - the day after the machine arrived I got an email thanking me, reviewing basic info and with a PDF of the instruction and recipe books, I loved the personal touch. I will probably print out the recipes so if they get stained I can just print a new page. 2. After 3 loaves of the basic recipe, consistently good bread. Friends and family love the results. Looking forward to trying new recipes The instructions - and so many of the reviews - say: before you try to use it, run a basic cycle for 10 minutes to burn off oil. I would add, be sure to run a kitchen ventilator or open a window. It doesn't smell good and possibly isn't good for your lungs. I was concerned that it would still smell on subsequent cycles but it has been fine. When I was looking at cookbooks, one of the recommendations is to use un-chlorinated water since chlorine can impede the rising process. I just use the filtered water from my refrigerator and the bread turned out great. I did microwave and checked the temperature before using though. I've had other bread machines but gave them away when we moved and it took me a couple of years to decide to get one again. I wanted to be able to make a one-pound loaf because we can't use all of a store loaf without throwing away half of it. We don't like stale bread around here. And it makes a two-pound loaf just as easily for Thanksgiving and Christmas. There are a lot more settings to try than my old machines, even yogurt. It seems like the SKG kneads the bread more thoroughly than the others did and I think that's why loaves reminded me of the bread my grandmother made. SKG is not any quieter, but I just consider that the sound of good things to come.

I am very impressed with this bread machine. I have had it for about 2 weeks. Every loaf of bread has come out great and the dough setting is perfect. I have not had any issues with undercooking, even on the light setting. I have made bread or dough at least once a day since I got it. I have had the best results using the ingredients recommended, sunflower oil, skimmed milk powder, a good quality bread flour and bread machine yeast. Pick those up if you don't have them already while you wait for it to arrive...then you can start right after delivery. Some people have complained about it rocking and moving, I have to agree this is an issue especially on the smallest bread setting. I put a rectangle of anti-fatigue mat under it and it hasn't budged since! I love that the machine is small. I have limited counter space and I was concerned it would take up everything I have. I would definitely recommend buying this bread machine. We will be getting my mom this one for Christmas as well.

I have tried many times to bake bread. And I have failed every time to bake bread that was edible. Some of it looked beautiful on the outside, but was not done inside. Some others were just . . . awful. I kneaded, I pounded. I let it rise and rise again after more pounding and kneading. So I quit baking bread. I just didn't have the knack. AND THEN PRIME DAY APPROACHED! I started thinking . . . maybe a bread maker. Maybe that would help me make edible bread. So I looked for bread machine reviews and put a couple of models on my WISH LIST just in case one was a deal on Prime Day. Lo and behold! My first choice showed up as a deal and I snatched up this SKG quicker than two shakes of a lamb's tail! So far, so good. My first loaf was so easy to make. I used the basic bread recipe that came with the machine. It REALLY was easy. I took the finished bread pan out of the machine, and the loaf slid right out of the nonstick pan. I placed it on a rack to cool. It smelled so good. I would like to tell you how it tasted. However, our dog must have thought it smelled good, because she snatched it and ran like heck to her cave under the dining room table. My husband retrieved it, but although we love our dog, neither of us wanted to try the loaded-with-tooth-marks loaf. We pulled it apart to look inside and it looked and felt perfect. I repeated the process on the next day and cooled the bread in a more secure location. This time we were able to taste it, and it was wonderful. By following the very clear directions in the manual/recipe book that came with the machine, I finally succeeded in making bread . . . delicious bread. SKG recommends reading the manual entirely before making your first loaf of bread, and I did. It gave me good information and answered some questions I already had. Whoever wrote this manual did a really good job. I followed directions exactly and measured carefully. SKG includes measuring cups and spoons, and advises using them, not others. The price was right. The reviews were excellent. Also, I especially liked the fact that some reviewers were beginners, like me, and some had used bread machines for years. I think this is a great machine and I definitely recommend it. Happy bread-making!

As newbies to this sort of thing, we thought we were making some compromises in order to keep things simple. We've had the machine for about a month now and have probably made 6 or 7 loaves - every one without a single failure (BTW - each a different kind and in 3 different sizes). To say this machine is foolproof might be a slight exaggeration, but it's pretty darn close. One issue that that many reviews bring up is that their bread makers "walk" during the kneading phase. The SKG's feet are designed a bit different, having small suction cups, which was one consideration that helped us make this choice. We have had no "walking" issues at all. Bread making is far and away easier than we thought it would be, and we're really enjoying fresh bread, without all the additives of store-bought. Also, would like to point out that the Seller has been attentive - without being overbearing - which we've very much appreciated. Fantastic machine !

Had this delivered via Amazon 2 day prime, and we've been making bread as fast as we can!! This machine is very light! I was surprised! Upon initial inspection, the lid seems a little loose - plastic hinge, but has several channels for the lid to sit in to and stay in place. Buttons are easy to see, easy to press and switch between menus etc. The 10 min Pre bake to burn off excess residue was quick and easy... cleaned, dried and started using. No weird flavors or odors during cooking besides - smells like pizza!! The first mixing setting is louder then I would have thought, but has a fun easy cadence to it. Ending beep is loud and beeps several times. Window is great until a certain point when the window is wet on the inside, it's a bit difficult to see what's happening, it then clears up and the bread is baking and rising! This made a beautiful fully loaded baked potato loaf of bread for our first loaf - from a mix - just add warm water, mix and yeast packet, basic setting, 2 lb, medium 3 hours and 5 min later - GORGEOUS, YUMMY loaf of bread. A treat for the entire family!! Pulled the loaf out shortly after baking ended so the unit was too hot to touch, twisted the pan out with a hot pad, tipped over and very nicely, the loaf slowly slid out of the pan. Blade stayed in the pan - not in the bread. Wiped out easily with a paper towel and started next loaf. We are making our 2nd loaf now... basic white, we'll see how it goes. So far we love this machine and would recommend it!

The process of bread making only takes me 15 - 20 minutes and then it does the rest !! I've made several loaves and they turn out beautiful ... the package was missing 1 little piece (the piece that removes the dough kneading device from the baked bread once it's done) ... but, I was extremely thrilled that I was promptly taken care of in a very professional way !! Can't say enough about how courteous the customer care was when I emailed the company and they took care of getting me the missing piece. I love the bread maker and still continue to rave about it. It is a wonderful addition to my kitchen !!

My old Oster Bread Machine lasted almost 15 years. However, there were things I wanted that were not on their models. I bought this about 6 months ago but this is the first time I have used it. We make our own pizza, I use mine primarily for dough. The key is to following the instructions and being accurate when measuring. It made a perfect ball of dough. No strange noises and the the pan that holds the ingredients stayed locked in place. I am very happy with the product. It was also sturdily packaged when shipped to me. I am totally happy with this purchase.

2 months now and still love it. Our latest favorite is Hawaiian bread. Pineapple juice, milk, egg, salt, sugar, flour, yeast. I can't seem to mess it up. It's very fluffy (guessing the yeast loves the sugar and makes it rise more). Some of the other recipes were dense, like french bread. My favorite part is I know exactly what's in my bread. I didn't have any pineapple juice for my recipe at first, threw in a banana instead, still amazing. I was worried it would be soggy or the banana wouldn't get blended good enough, I was wrong. I have fresh bread twice a week and the kids love it. I'm not even accurate in measurements. I just kinda throw it all in there real quick. If it looks too moist I throw more flour in during mixing. I'm no expert and this seems to be idiot proof. Looking forward to experimenting. I bought bread bags and ties off Amazon as well, good addition to this purchase. I do notice the bread dries out quick. I'm testing keeping the bread in the fridge instead of on the counter. It could be the lack of preservatives. Basically don't make more than you can eat in 2 days, unless you solve the moisture problem.

My physician recommended I avoid all products with modern processed white flour. I soon found out that was difficult. After quite a bit of research, I decided to make our own bread using Emmer or Einkorn wheat. After a couple of failed attempts, the Emmer wheat bread turned out perfectly - if all else fails, follow the instructions. The instruction manual stresses several times that exact measurements and temperatures of ingredients are crucial. I broke down and bought a good thermometer. My wife and I couldn't believe the wonderful taste of the Emmer bread! The SKG bread maker worked flawlessly every time. With new confidence, I'm looking forward to try several more of the recipes included in the well written manual. My only negative comment was the machine was missing one of the suction cups on the bottom of the machine. I contacted SKG and asked if I could acquire replacements. Michael responded and promptly sent a replacement set. An excellent bread maker and a responsive support staff - what a rarity! Thank you, SKG. v/r, Chuck Lindsey

I have used a Zojurushi bread machine for years for kneading dough. (I never bake it in the bread machine itself; I take out the dough, shape, let rise, and bake in the oven). Unfortunately the Zo became too heavy for me to lift and I had to find a lighter machine that wasn't too big to leave on the countertop. I really like the SKG. It's small and lightweight. It is also has some kind of rubbery suction cups on the feet so it doesn't move by itself on the counter during the dough cycle. I haven't used it for baking the bread so I can't speak to that.
