Ive been using the knock off brand filters for years. These PetSafe Drinkwell filters are soooooo much better. The quality and performance is bar-none in comparison. These filters have triple if not quadruple the amount of charcoal in it. The wetting of the filter absorbs water so much better then the knock offs also. These filters actually filter the water better too. I will never turn back to the knock offs now that I’ve been using these. The water my kitty is drinking is filtered much better. Cant state enough quality of these, they are just much better all the way around.

I bought it expecting to burn money on another gimmick, but it actually worked. I have one dog with chronic bad breath, despite brushing, dentals, and healthy gums. He skunks the water out every day and I have to scrub out the bowl. He's got some kind of gnarly mouth bio. The cat won't drink after him. This thing keeps the water fresh and clean for weeks. I keep it topped off and wash the bowl once a week. I haven't replaced the filter yet, so 21 days thus far. I'm impressed. I do wish it was better sealed around the filter, and/or held more water. The lower half of the pump got clogged with hair (Rough collie) that had made it around the filter. The pump would cavitate at higher than average water levels until I cleaned it out, but other than that its great.

Just buy the correct filters for the Drinkwell! Okay, I tried the cheaper ones and they're not worth the money. The knock offs don't have the same amount of charcoal nor do they fit correctly (needs to bend a little to make sure it's snug. Otherwise water goes around instead of through the filter). So, with the Drinkwell filters the waterer stays cleaner, with less film. That means the filter is actually working. Also, the Drinkwell filters can be rinsed and used again, up to a month, because there is plenty of charcoal. In retrospect, you use one of the Drinkwell filters to four of the knock-offs. Your four legged babies are worth it. My dog and one of my cats use this waterer as their sole source of water. My cat use to sit by the faucet and wait for me to turn it on. It was my mother's cat and she taught him this annoying habit. Now, he only drinks from the Drinkwell and could care less about drinking from the faucet.

It’s weird to review replacement parts, especially giving them categorical ⭐️⭐️ ratings that may or may not be relevant to the product. Easy to clean these disposable, charcoal replacement filters? Hmmm, going to have to go with 4 out of 5 stars on this one! Had to dock it 1 star because whenever this disposable filter gets dirty, I throw it in the trash and put in a new one. 4/5 Anyway, yeah these petsafe replacement filters will fit in your petsafe drinking fountain and will charcoal filter the hell out of the water. If your expectation is charcoal filtered water, then congratulations — these filters will neither fail or exceed those expectations. They are exactly what you think and do exactly what you expect.

Very good filter. Keeps the cats water fresh. Has a carbon filter to remove chlorine which is only going to last three weeks at most. So make sure to change it at least every three weeks. When the filters are changed I clean the whole fountain with a very small amount of bleach solution (a capful per gallon of water) to kill anything like slime and bacteria that might develop. Like I said this is only done when filters are changed which is every three weeks (Others might comment on this and I don't care.) I treat drinking water and bleach is in your drinking water as a disinfectant it's safe to clean a cat bowl as long as you rinse it good. Don't keep the fountain in direct sun or you will have problems.

These are exactly what I expected and fit my pet safe fountain. Some people have questioned why they use them if they don't look bad when they change them. Carbon filters remove chlorine, sediment, some organic compounds, and tastes and odors from water. While these also serve as physical filters for things like fur and whatnot, most are things that you won't see. I continue to use them for my cat who has mild kidney issues and needs to drink plenty of water. I don't want anything like a funny taste or smell to deter him from doing so. I don't know if it makes a difference but it certainly can't hurt and it's cheaper than the vet.

If you are going to use a fountain, you must use a filter. Check the filter often. Since my daughter moved to the city, it has blackened 5x faster than our country home. The only way you can tell when it is time to check it is by visually inspecting it. It really does make a difference--you must realize that this water is circulating repeatedly in the room for a few days or week until it is gone, so it is subject to airborne contaminants as well as waterborne. A small price to pay for clean water for your pet. Just look at the filter next time you change it and you will be convinced! Also, cats wont drink dirty water or water that appears stale, which is why they go for the cold water in the toilet. The filter keeps the contaminants from floating on the top of the water and discouraging drinking. It is vital that cats, especially older cats, drink a lot of water, so change your fountain a minimum of every 5-7 days and look inside for the green mold that forms from exposure to sun. This also forms with Brita filters. Make sure you clean this out of the inside of the Drinkwell fountain--the mold is also found when you remove the filter and at the very top where the water comes out. When you take the fountain apart to fill it and clean it you will see the green stuff. Just wipe it away Your cat will thank you!

I love the Drinkwell's. I have three for my cats - two going and one to rotate for cleaning. I started with one and the next week added the other, and then cleaned the first week's system and let it dry, replacing it with the other, etc. Four would be best during summer with the four kitties I have now. READ the instructions regarding the filters. All of the negative posts I have read seem to be covered in the instructions. You have to clean the systems. The filter is not necessary yet it prevents a lot of the "slime" people seem disgusted by and you have to clean to system. I always forget which way to install the filter! Just read the system's instructions. I hope this helps anyone thinking of purchasing the system and utilizing the filters.

Hi everyone... The package with picture is much better ... These were made for PetSafe Drinkwell Premium Carbon Replacement.... These filters were made for drinkwell fountains... I have tried just about every other replacement filter and the quality is less than the filters in this article... None of the other had the amount of charcoal that PetSafe has in their filters... After you try these... You will notice how much this filter preforms... I love these filters... Much easier to clean...

These filters cost considerably less than their OEM counterparts, and do the job just fine. It helps to not only make the water fresher for my pet, but it also catches debris like hair in the carbon filter, preventing it from getting sucked into the main filter device. You can easily rinse the filter, and put it back in when you need to. You can even try flipping it over, end-over-end, as I saw only about half of the filter was covered by water most of the time, giving you a little more life for the filter!
