good holding power
got this for the kids to go magnet fishing. Made a shield and used some para cord, works great, they had a blast. found an old railroad spike the first day. i tested the strength by putting it onto my iron anvil, yea, that was difficult to remove, had to use a pry bar. If you walk with it at your side, it will pull a pocket knife out of your pocket. I was able to stick it on an I-beam and it was strong enough to hold me up.

Unbelievably strong and yes it will pick up a dollar
I was skeptical thinking this was one of those China Hoaxes but I was wrong. These things are super strong. I don't know if they will pick up 300 pounds but they do pick up more than I can lift. I stuck the magnet to an I-Beam and could not pull it directly off. I even had trouble sliding it to get it off. Also I thought the dollar bill trick had to be a magic trick, like laying the dollar on some metal filings: I was WRONG. It will actually pick up a Paper Dollar Bill. HOWEVER every video I watched about magnet fishing off a pier, they all found at least one knife. All I found on my first trip was 6 fish hooks, a Miller beer bottle cap and a can top. There were other small pieces of wire that looked like they could have been old fish hooks a long time ago. Well I am impressed with this magnet and would recommend it

Strong but brittle
Very strong. Would advise finding a large washer the size of the magnet to keep over it as protection from impact since this type is very brittle and a fast attachment slamming into it could chip or break it.

Feel the *** POWER ***
The magnets are very well backed (I bought two) with foam surrounding each magnet to avoid damages during shipping, etc. The magnet itself if very well constructed with a nickel-copper-nickel triple plating. As you will note from the description and photo, it is sold to function as a "fishing magnet" although it can be used for thousands of other applications. But one thing is certain, if you want the strongest possible magnet for its size, these Neodymium magnets are exactly what you are looking for! (just be careful not to get your fingers, flesh or breakable objects between these magnets and another ferromagnetic object)

Haven't found cool stuff yet, but if anything will, it's this thing!
I thought it was just OK when I was picking up nails and bottle caps. It showed its true strength when I accidentally hit the metal support post for the dock... I had to get a lot of leverage and use both hands to remove it! It even attracted rocks which must have only a small amount of iron in them, since they don't react at all to even medium-sized neodymium magnets.

Nicely Strong Magnet
Got this to do soome magnet fishing along with gathering nails from the fenceline where the person building the fence seemed to have no issues just leaving them on the ground there and around the property so I get to deal with tire repairs on my tractor and trailer plus I use it to check for ferous metals in scrap. It is very strong-you're not going to life a car with it but if you use it within it's reasonable expectations and limits you should be haappy. Still need to Locktight the Eyehole threads.

Dang strong
I bought this for some casual magnet-fishing. It's the perfect strength- almost too strong to remove from a metal surface, but I can still pull it off if it finds something immobile under the water. I did use threadlock (purchased a tiny tube at an auto parts store) to keep the bolt in place.

Kids are going to LOVE magnet fishing with this thing!!
Came quickly and was really impressed with the well padded and protected box which prevented it from damaging other things in shipping. Super strong magnet and will be interesting to use for my kids. Recently heard about magnet fishing so when it warms up it'll be a fun treat for them to try in nearby streams and shallow ponds /lakes. We'll graduate to large bodies of water once they get the hang of it. It magnetizes other things too like screwdrivers so it's handy to have in the garage especially when working with small screws or in tight spaces. The loop seems really secured well to the magnet which was a concern of mine after reading other reviews from this and other similar magnets but I guess time will tell. I'm not sure if it is really the strength claimed so that might be another thing we explore in our nerd science explorations but it def takes some muscle to pull it off flat metal surfaces. (We might have dented the fridge a little hahaha whoops!!) but I am pretty sure if we were to get it stuck to something metal and flat while underwater magnet fishing we might have to cut our losses because I do not think anything short of manhandling it loose is going to work if it is particularly heavy object so hopefully that helps on letting you know thoughts on magnet strength a little. Idk. Overall am super pleased with the purchase and will totally order it again if we need another one or lose this one! Magnet fishing here we come!!!

Order 2 A friend will likely steal yours
This is my 6th Neodynium magnet. I've broken and lost others but can't stand not having at least a couple. This is my first with an eye to string a line. I recommend what Amazon will: Paracord. 50' is plenty for me. I'm about to take mine fishing. One way I like to test magnets is with a $1 bill. If you don't have a magnet that will pick up at least one dollar, you don't have a magnet. This one does with no problem. Not a 5 or 20..a one dollar bill. Right over George's face (see my image).
