First off, the price is awesome. We looked around the music stores and they are expensive. My son needed it for school and I really don’t want to spend a lot of money. We bought this and not expecting much but boy it really lived up to our expectations and more. Looks great and looks expensive. My son really likes it and we can’t even see the difference from the ones we saw at the store. We are very happy with this purchase.

Great for its price. Don't expect to go pro on this.

Definitely not for somebody who intends to play everyday and with a large professional ensemble. BUT it's great for my purpose, picking up every now and then just to keep the fingers going and the chops in shape. Would be good for somebody just learning. Great for parents who's kids just joined band and don't want to yet invest in something more substantial, just in case their kid decides they want to play something else.

It's in tune with itself

When I was a kid, I had a few instruments including a hand-me-down nickel plated flute. My music teacher included it in my lessons. As a teenager, something happened and my flute got stolen. Fast forward to adulthood and I bought a low end silver plated flute. It would nearly turn black if you didn't keep it polished, and polishing it was a pain. It also didn't seem to keep in tune from octave to octave which drove me nuts! Anyway, a few months ago that flute met with an unfortunate accident and could not be repaired. I really didn't want to spend a lot of money on a new flute, so I decided to take a chance and get this one. Out of the box, it shined as brightly as a freshly polished silver flute. The key action was very smooth and well balanced. I was very surprised by how good it sounded. I don't have the best embouchure, but I could easily hit the notes in all three octaves. I like this flute. The case was nice and the stand was clever, the gloves were crap, and I didn't get the cleaning rod. You'll want to use the joint grease before putting this flute together, although petroleum jelly would work just as well. If you are looking for a student flute, I see no reason why you shouldn't go with this one. It's well made, sounds good, the nickel shouldn't tarnish, and the price is insanely low for what you're getting.

Great value in a beginner flute - seems well made and not "cheap"

This is a beautiful instrument and seems well-made. Having said that I can see why some complain that it breaks when used by children. I would not expect it to stand up to harsh treatment. It comes with nice accessories and the case is well-made if a little small to fit all the things that come with it. I know they were in the case when I got it, but I was not able to put them all back in again. The flute and most important things fit just fine. I am a beginner so I can't say anything about how it plays or the sound yet. I have not received incentive to write this review.

I'm happy

I received this flute quickly and in good order. There were no stoppers holding the keys in place (a feature other bargain flutes have) but the instrument arrived with no key problems. My flute had a little glob of glue on one key that was irritating my 3rd finger. I contacted customer service and we worked out a solution. I filed it down with a nail file and now it is barely noticeable. I didn't want to return this flute because my specimen was perfect otherwise and, at this price point, they might send a bad one. I really like this flute. I like the nickel plating (no allergy to this metal). I have an expensive silver plated flute and it tarnishes somewhat. I'm getting good color from the low notes, better than expected. I LOVE the split e lever. I have never had a flute with split e, but I sailed up the scale freely. The action of this flute is heavier than my expensive one. It feels like a flute I played in High School. I have no idea how long this instrument will last. I got it as a back up to my better flute. Student usage that's rough on instruments could shorten it's life. I understand that band directors don't have time to fix flutes. A better and fixable instrument is probably better for school band use. The case for the flute is adequate, but no more. Same with the stand. The white gloves I wore at handbell practice and they are perfect for rehearsals. I do have small hands but these gloves fit well All in all I am pleased with my purchase. Can't beat the value. Good customer service for a minor problem. I now want a piccolo and will probably choose this brand again for a "try it" instrument

I bought this item for my grand-daughter last year, as a starter instrument, as she decided she wanted to join the high school band, She is still playing it, but we decided to buy her a more advanced intrument this year, to help her continue to grow with the beauty of amusical instrument. This will certainly do the job for a first time player, until they decide wither or not they will stay interested in playing in the band.

Flute Loops...Yum!

I was so excited when my flute arrived! I played YEARS ago and couldn't wait to get back to it!! Nice flute for the price. Arrived on time as promised! This is the 3rd Mendini instrument that I have purchased and have been extremely satisfied with!

Problems.....Change my review

This flute is not working very well. The keys keep getting stuck in messes up the whole sound of the flute. I wish I had an 800 number so I could call for a new product. This one is defected. Updated 3-1-18 I contact the company about a week ago and explain to them the musical instrument was not working. They did some troubleshooting and realize it was broke, then sent me out a new one with a return slip of the old one. They did a great job 5 stars

Beautiful look and sound for my beginner flute playing, 13 yr. old daughter. Nice case and accessories.
