Great for kids
I bought this telescope for my niece a year ago. She absolutely loves it. After a year of abuse by a 10 year old girl and a 5 year old boy, it still looks and works as great as ever. It is a mostly plastic telescope and sheet metal tripod legs, but it is far better quality and more tough than other scopes in the same price range and if you're buying a first telescope for a rambunctious knuckle headed kid, you can't' beat it. The lenses are leaps and bounds better quality than other toy scopes in this range.

Perfect no fuss telescope
If you are looking for an easy first time telescope then this is a great little telescope. Some Pros: 1 no collimation needed on this type of telecope. This is a big bonus as its pretty much ready to use right out of the box and you don't need to know much about telescopes to start. 2 lightweight and suprisingly stable tripod construction 3. You can see most of the plnets and some moons pretty easily even with loads of light pollution nearby. Took maybe 10 minutes ro find both Jupiter and its moons and Saturn+rings. Cons: Tripod can be flimsy when fully extended but you probably want a chair for stargazing anyway. You wont see many details of most planets with this telescope. Its probably about 3 times more clear and stable than binoculars but you wont see Jupiter's red spot or other planetary features. Results. Way better than naked eye or binoculars good entry telescope or for kids.

Great starter scope
This was a gift for my Granddaughter who is 12. She takes it out whenever she can and absolutely loves it. As she says, I can now see the craters on the moon. Hoping it keeps her focus on science and furthers her education. Great starter scope, very clear and easy to use. A 12 year old can set it and use it .

Performs well
Perfect telescope. I hesitated after reading the negative comments but decided to give it a try. Turns out it works very well. I think some people didn't read the instructions carefully. Didn't do their research before buying something.

A great beginner's telescope
Let me be clear: This is not miniature version of the Hubble space telescope---not even close. However, it is exactly what it is advertised to be. Portable, lightweight and good for kids. It's just fine for looking at some of the detail of the moon and perhaps some of the nearby planets (if you know how to find them). Although I haven't tested it in the wilderness yet, I would bet it would be good for daytime applications there as well. The best part of this telescope is that it is very Kid friendly. It's a good way to let them get the hang of how the parts work together, how to use & focus lenses and to use the viewfinder. We all know that kids change their minds every five minutes about what interests them, so this is a great item to dip your toe in the water before shelling out hundreds of dollars on something that will just gather dust.

Crystal clear close up images of the moon and other objects
Wow this telescope is really impressive. For the price it’s crazy how much you can see with it. Close ups of the moon are crystal clear with it. Shipping time literally took 2 days too which i really liked about it. Instruction manual is clear and easy to follow for setup. Also comes with a detailed map of the moon which i thought was cool.

Portable, easy to set up, great instructions and manual!
Awesome for beginners and its so small! This telescope was easy to put together and set up. The information packet/instructions is helpful and educational. I cant remember the last time I learned something from and instruction booklet. The booklet describes how the mirrors work and how to use the lenses. In addition to the instructions there is also a map of the moon! I knew the telescope would be small but this one is super tiny! I do have to use a chair outside because I cant bend down that far. The whole assembly folds up and will fit in the carry bag. The bag is light and thin but it will be great for keeping dust off the lenses and mirrors. The lenses are very clear and I was able to locate a few stars on my first night. Cant wait to get a good look at the moon and maybe mars! I would definitely recommend this as a great family activity of for anyone who is interested at a closer look at the moon and stars.

Great product
The magnification/optics are good and produces a detailed view of the night sky, unlike other telescopes, larger and higher multiple eyepieces,10mm and 25mm. It is a great gift for children, a good learning experience of astronomy.

Looks great. Wish it was a full size stand
I have never set up a telescope, but I was able to have this one up and going in about 10 minutes. I haven't had a chance to look at the moon with it so I will update later once we can do it. I was able to see a distant object in the viewfinder, and use the lower magnification lens to find and focus on it so far. Looks great. Wish it was a full size stand, but I love the carrying case.

Emarth Travel Telescope with Tripod & Finder Scope
I bought this Emarth Telescope as a gift for my nephew and niece. It's light and compact in size so it works pretty well with toddlers, preschool, and older kids. This telescope does require some assembly before it can be used and it's best to be done by adults because kids might touch and make the lens parts dirty. I think the design is pretty clever as there is a fold-able carrying bag included in the package and everything can be fit inside the bag when not used. The telescope comes with a viewfinder scope alone with the main objective lens. Two eye-pieces are included and one is 25mm while the other is 6mm (25mm offers 14.4x and 6mm offers 60x). There is a 3x Barlow lens which can further increase the magnification when needed. The viewfinder scope should be calibrated first with a closer object - align the viewfinder scope by tightening the adjustment screws around the mount. One the viewfinder scope is calibrated and the same object are observed through the viewfinder scope and main lens, we can proceed to observe other subjects, such as moon. A compact tripod is included in the package to enhance stability on most surfaces and the pan handle helps to lock the telescope in certain angle. ** Pay attention to kids when they're using the telescope so they won't look directly into the sun as this might damage their eyes.
