This Banjolele is surprisingly well made. The fret finish is excellent, the hardware all seems to be well made, and the overall set-up is pretty good. The fretboard binding is nice, and the satin finish was flawless and has a nice feel on the back of the neck. The shape of the neck is a little deeper than a regular ukulele, more the shape of a banjo neck, which looks right. I did some basic set-up like I would do on most instruments. The bridge moves easily and may need to be repositioned to 15-1/2", for example. I'd recommend checking that it sits at 15-1/2" (2X the distance to the 12th fret) plus just a tad. I also filed the string slots in the nut a little deeper to improve intonation. The strings weren't way high, but like most instruments in all price ranges, you usually need to dress the slots a bit more to get the height perfect. The strings themselves seemed okay, but I did swap those out for a type I'd used before. I did tune it with the original strings on, and they stretched out fairly quickly, but I didn't spend much time playing with them on, so I can't really comment much. I like the sound and the look of black nylon strings, so I wanted to get those changed and beginning to stretch right away. The sound is what you would expect - loud and bright and twangy. My only grumble is that, while the banjolele I received looks almost exactly the same as in the images, there was one detail that was different: the name on the headstock. I received a Hoke rather than a Muke. I was sort of looking forward to having a Muke.

Sounds exactly like a banjo, kind of heavy, but plays like a dream!

The bridge doesn’t move, and it sounds great, worth every penny, good for beginners and pro
