I received earlier than delivery date, which is great because I plan to use it this weekend. The box came in original packaging with description and contents. Amazon gives you a choice to ship in a plain, brown box to hide the contents. The quick assembly guide to use the vacuum was vague. How you assemble it requires to remove the fan cover. To remove the cover, all you do is place screwdriver into the hole and push screwdriver inside against the square, black button (you cannot recognize this is a button until it comes apart) that will, in turn, release the cover. Do not turn the screwdriver or anything, that will break the cover housing, just push in until the cover releases from the housing.

For the price, this tool mulched about 6 bushels of leaves and twigs and dirt and small rocks with hardly a hitch. However, a few longer twigs got caught at the nozzle, kind of like a paperclip and a floor vac. Not an issue. Had only one clog; honestly, I was being too aggressive and not letting the vac do it the work for me. At 6'3" I could have used 4 more inches on the vac pipe and the backpack got somewhat heavy. Yes, I'm out of shape, but it worked just as well dragging it. I estimated it held about 15-20 gallons of leaf mulch. Also, the vac/blower is heavier than I anticipated. With great power, comes great weight. Ha! Overall, Bravo Zulu!

Pros: Corded electric - so it can last as long as you need Powerful - this thing sucks any loose foliage I've seen (well not all, but 90% unless it's stuck in-between the grass) Re-usable , detachable bag that you can wear as a backpack while cleaning 2 modes - vacuum and blow Can attach gutter cleaner extensions You look like you're ready to go to war with loose foliage Cons: Loud Vacuum doesn't pick up 100% of everything you throw at it (but maybe you don't want to, do you really want it to be so powerful it can pick up rocks?) Heavy - it does feel like you're holding a minigun like Jesse Ventura in Predator. So I'm a new home owner and I needed something to clean the yard and gutters ( gutter attachments not included but you can buy them ) without blowing all the garbage into my neighbors' yards ( because using my hands would take forever ) and this is fantastic for that. This thing comes with two modes and attachments for both purposes: 1 - Blow 2 - Vacuum I haven't used it as a blower yet and I do plan to use it for drying my car after washing, but I have used the vacuum and it has a boost mode that makes the suction more powerful and I haven't found a reason not to use boost. It does a great job and sucks up all the leaves and loose lawn or what-have-you in my yard and even things from little crevices sometimes get sucked in. If you have rocks and you're trying to suck the leaves out without sucking in the rocks, it won't pick up heavier objects so that is safe, but if you have small pebbles then it might get sucked in. It also picks up loose dirt so I wouldn't use vacuum it in those areas either. It comes with a re-usable bag that you wear as a backpack and can dump out in your compost bin easily. So this is fantastic engineering. Love this thing, and saves me so much time with yard work and would buy it again.

High power sucked up my pompas grass cuttings easily. Munches right through twigs. Bag fell off hose. I reattached with a 4 inch threaded adapter from the clothes dryer department. Backpack closure is brilliantly designed. Blower is powerful. Great value for about $100. Cons: sucking tube must be firmly attached, or it rocks loose the interlock. Plastic body could be thicker here. Bag came off hose, and i might have thrown away whatever locking collar it came with.

We have a large fig tree and in the fall it drops very large, very thick leaves in addition to a bunch of small unripe figs. I used the blower to corral the leaves and the vacuum to shred them. It worked well even with really damp leaves. The manual doesn't cover this use case, but you can attach both the vacuum adapter and the blower tube at the same time. This allows you to simultaneously shred and pile up large volumes of leaves without worrying about emptying the bag. The vac/blower setup is powerful enough to shoot leaves 20+ feet.

So far so good, I'm impressed. I have only used the vacuum/mulch function but it was very impressive and I abused this thing for several hours. I'm not sure how people are having issues with the bag, it was pretty straight forward and very easy to use. I folded it 4 times but other users seem fine at 2-3 folds. I did have to clean the blade housing twice but I was sucking up some nasty wet partially decomposed globs of leaves. When I stuck to normal drier leaves it never clogged up. I was pleasantly surprised at the capacity of the bag. It held enough to nearly fill a standard brown yard waste bag. Disconnecting the fan assembly could be a bit hard but just stick anything reasonable in the slot and it should open up. It worked for me with a Phillips screwdriver. Disconnecting the hose was probably the most difficult part but nothing is perfect. By the end of my maiden voyage with this thing I learned to set it down with the hose pointing up and use my foot to hold the blower down while pulling the hose off. Probably not the best way to do it but it worked. If I haven't updated this review then consider it to still be working. If it breaks I will certainly be back.

I just put this thing through hell. 4 full bags of leaves without any issue. It did help that I had already watched the video on the Amazon product page about how to correctly close the end of the bag. Also, unlike someone else mentioned, I had no issue disconnecting the hose from the blower to carry the bag to the trash can without having to carry around the entire unit. I was also easily able to disconnect the vacuum attachment from the fan blade so I could un-jam it (only happened twice and there was a valid reason for the jam as per the next paragraph). The unit was not able to grind up spiky seed pods from a sweet gum tree. Instead, it would suck up the balls, peel them, and then I had to stop the unit to let them fall out before too many were floating around near the fan or the unit would jam. The squirrels are going to love all the peeled seed pods waiting for them. There is a switch for "burst mode". Honestly, not sure what the point is as I just left it on "burst" speed the entire time.

OK, I don' know why they keep trying to make these tools do two things: vac and blow leaves. None of them ever do both jobs well, so face it, we all have (or want to have) one tool that vacuums the leaves and one that blows them. With two tools it also keeps you from having to mess with the always frustrating process of switching the tool from one mode to the other. OK, on to what this is good at. This is the BEST leaf vac I've ever used!! I had a Toro, which is still highly rated, but I wasn't super happy with it. Needless to say, when it died, I wasn't all that upset. I actually went and bought the new Toro model hoping it would be better. It wasn't. The ergonomics are all wrong and carrying the bag that's low to the ground is a pain in the you-know-what! Sooooo, when I saw this cool blower/vac/mulcher, I was very excited. Obviously, since it comes with a backpack, they put more emphasis on the vac & mulching aspects, and it shows. This is a terrible leaf blower in my opinion, which is why I have a separate blower for that and that is all it does and it does it quite well. This does not, but, boy does it suck up leaves like a guy at a hotdog eating contest!! How it does that so well without picking up all of my rocks, I don't know, but it does and I am thrilled. My Toro was never this good at picking up leaves, but seemed to always pick up rocks. Go figure. On top of the good suction, the backpack is really a wonderful improvement over most setups. You don't even realize it's full because the weight is so easily carried on your back. This has improved the process of cleaning up my leaves so much, I hardly notice that there's a cord. Of course, if I could find a cordless model with this much suction AND a backpack I would be on that like flies on Grandma's apple pie, but I don't see that happening soon. I also have the B&D 40-volt battery powered sweeper vac and it's great for what I need it for (picking up cotton wood fluff every spring), but it can't pick up a leaf to save its little life! So, having just the cord to drag around and not the heavy bag as well is a HUGE improvement. Now, I had really wanted a vac with a metal impeller and this one is plastic. I'm guessing it might not last as long, but for only $69, I don't really care if I have to replace it every few years. My Toro had a plastic impeller and actually lasted over 8 years, so maybe the metal blade isn't that big a deal. My headline says this is a beast, and it is. At first I thought, dang, this is heavy! I'm a 5'1" female, so the weight has the potential of being a real drag getting stuff done and not running out of gas (me, not the vac, it's electric, remember?). :) But despite the somewhat hefty weight, it's so balanced you don't notice it. It also has an extra handle to spread out the weight even more. Brilliant! I don't write a lot of reviews, but I just had to write about this vac. I absolutely love it and it's the best $70 I've spent in a long time. For the people who said the bag leaks all over the place — not to be mean, but I'm quite baffled how you could not figure this out. You just have to roll the end up a good 3 times or more before you buckle it (I always roll it 3 times). This is so simple I think a 5-year old could figure it out. There are some not so smart people in the world though, and some of them obviously bought this tool. Hopefully you have figured it out by now.

This has great suction power. The backpack makes it sooo much easier to use than the other B&D Vacuum. I didn’t get dirty from the bag on my back and it stayed closed. The part that you hold is lighter than the other one too and more ergonomic. This is way better than the one I’ve used for years. I still have it, but I probably won’t use the old one again! I can’t comment on the durability since today was the first day I tried it. It picked up all the leaves as well as thin sticks.

I can get a bit obsessive about our lawn, and this is the most satisfying lawn care purchase I have made in years. Go ahead and leave the powerboat button on all of the time. The backpack collection bag is AWESOME! I am so happy that I will not be shlepping around with a bag in one hand and the yard vac in the other this year one the leaves fall.
