Purpose of purchase: I didn't want to spend more than $20 for BT headphones or continue using a 3.5mm extension snaking through the living room. I was very worried about the quality of this as there are so many versions out here. Equipment used: -B&W P7s, throwaway iPhone headphones that come in the box -Smart TV with BT capability -Android phone Experience: First impression was worry - it feels incredibly cheap due to it's almost negligent weight. Since I'm not carrying it around, I did not want something light. If people plan to run with this in their pocket, this is a winner. After charging it for a few hours (I plugged it up before friends came over and found it fully charged when they left), it was very simple to turn on (long press of center button). The directions in manual are fairly useless, but the operations are very intuitive. It took 2 tries for my phone to find it and it worked well right off the bat. Connecting it to my TV took a few more tries, but it was finally discovered and linked well. Probably the greatest feature (for my use) is the fact that when I turn the BT receiver on, it automatically links to my TV. No need to worry about long cables. No more negotiating volume levels. Happy wife, happy life. Update: No issues. Leaving the previous comments below in humble defeat for anyone else who hits that wall. Since I already paired it before with my phone, it was saved under paired devices. I forgot I renamed it, so of course I didn't see Taotronics on the list. SMH. The mic works well and am told I sound like I'm on speakerphone mode. This was only tested indoors and am not sure what the quality would be if outside or running. Seems like a good alternative for older cars without a BT feature though. I've also used this for 3hrs at medium volume without requiring a charge yet. Previous Issues: I attempted to connect the receiver to another phone, but couldn't do it with the TV on. I tried again with it off and still nothing. I was doing this out of curiosity, so I stopped that and continued to enjoy what I bought it for. If you're constantly switching audio sources, it may take a bit to get it going. I don't have doubts it is possible, but I didn't have the patience to figure out a solution I don't need.

I didn't have high expectations for this when I ordered it but I was still somewhat dissapointed with the sound quality. There is a constant "hiss" that can be heard when playing music on low volume or when paused. I was able to easily fix this by changing the gain of the amplifier IC (PAM8908). NEar this IC (U6 on the board) there are four sets of pads labeled R17, R14, R13, and R16. This item is shipped with jumpers soldered to pads of R14 and R16 which sets the gain to +3db. I changed the gain to -6db by desoldering the jumper on R16 and soldering it to the pads labeled R13. This completely removed the audible hiss and now that the gain is lower I have finer control over the volume as well. Before I made the modification the quietest setting was a little too quiet and the volume got too loud for a quiet setting by only increasing the volume to 3 or 4. Now I have finer control over the volume level, no more too quiet or too loud. Of course if you replicate what I've done you're almost garaunteed to void your waranty. Also, if you don't have good soldering skills and equipment you might not be able to do this mod without ruining the device. If the manufacturer reads this- a great idea for improvement for this device would be to include a switch that lets the user switch between gain settings. It would be easy to implement and absolutely worth a little more money to someone like me.

The sound quality from this BT receiver is excellent, no discernible difference from wired listening. The range and reach through walls is also very good. I purchased this to make my headphones wireless (instead of paying for hundreds of dollars for comparable wireless headphones). I'm quite satisfied with the device and my music listening experience.

I wanted to expand my 2006 Goldwing Motorcycle audio capabilities to play XM radio. Picked up this handy little receiver for that purpose. Used a little Velcro to fasten to side of storage bin. Also picked up a short 4" USB cable and cigarette lighter style power adapter to apply power automatically when I'm riding. 1/8" stereo plug attaches it to the audio system. Paired easily with my Samsung Note 8 which I have a phone mount that holds it in place. I just start the bike, push the on button and run my Sirius XM app on the phone and enjoy the Grateful Dead channel while out riding. Compact installation leaves room for other things in the storage bin.

It synced up to my phone in less than 20 seconds, just hold down the button to turn it on and set your phone to search and pair. Since then, I can hold down the button when I get in the vehicle for 2 seconds...and I can start playing music in less than 10 seconds. It turns itself off after maybe an hour of inactivity, I ran it since purchase for maybe 4 hours total until it asked to be charged. I charged it up tonight and I'll give an update if I can remember how long it lasts on a full charge. It comes with a 8" AUX cable and a double ended AUX plug if you don't want wires dangling everywhere, and a USB charging cable maybe 16" long? I opted for this when I decided to get rid of my cup mounted phone holder and for a vent mounted one, my AUX cable wouldn't reach my new mount, so if you want to do the same...it works! Very much worth the money! No difference in quality of sound that I've noticed. Update: After two more weeks of use. With a full charge, it lasts about 6 days. 15-20 minutes of driving 4 times a day. You can leave it plugged in while you listen to it... but mind you it will deteriorate the battery to where it wont hold a charge, and you have more wires hanging out. An hour of charge is worth a week of listening pleasure.

This is probably my favorite gadget and maybe the best $16 I've spent this year. I've had it almost six months and I use it daily to listen to music and watch YouTube without having to plug earbuds into my phone. It's great for long walks with music, without risking taking my phone out of my purse or pocket. It's great for workouts without having to risk dropping the phone. I use it hours per day and have never run out of charge, nor has it ever glitched or crashed (except that all Bluetooth devices seldom work well more than a few feet away). The sound quality is very good, not quite the same as direct connect, but very close. The controls are simple and intuitive. The mic for making calls also works fine, though you have to remember to get it near your face and I usually use headsets instead for conference calls.

This is a great device. Pairing worked flawlessly, and the battery life is excellent. When the battery gets low, it starts sounding a warning beep, and from that point I've found I get maybe 15-30 more minutes before the battery dies completely. Another good feature is that if you disconnect your phone from this device but neglect to shut the device itself off, it'll automatically shut itself off after 10 minutes. I'm constantly forgetting to turn it off once I shut off my car, so that's excellent for saving battery life. Audio quality is excellent, as well. I don't use this for phone calls, so unfortunately I can't comment on how good the microphone is, but everything else is superb.

Worked less than a week then after that could not charge the bluetooth receiver. I do like the buttons and how easy it is to operate. I'm still going to give TaoTronics another try if they release a new product. I'm guessing the one I purchased was defective so I returned it. Update 11/27/2017 I received an email from Isabella at SunValleytek regarding my purchase of the Taotronics bluetooth receiver and she was so helpful that she mailed me a replacement, free of charge, for the original defective one I bought a few weeks ago. Expected delivery was supposed to be 7 days, it arrived earlier than that... 2 days! It works great. Like I said before I love the buttons and its responsiveness. LOVE IT! Thank you so much for making me a happy and satisfied customer. Would definitely recommend this product to anyone and buying from the great staff at SunValleytek. Cheers!

I haven't tested out the 15 hour battery life, since I often have the receiver plugged into its charger, but this little thing works great for making my car sound system Bluetooth compatible with a quick button push! Super easy to set up and it really helps me save money I would have spent to fix my iPhone's headphone jack by bypassing it with Bluetooth. The sound is great and the range is surprisingly large, since it sometimes connects from inside my living room to my car parked out on the street (~30-35ft away) when I forget to turn my Bluetooth off on my phone.

we’ve been using 3 of these, the oldest for over 15 months. they PERFECTLY fit our need to: - use any headset we wish w/ any BT device - do so without a dangling wire to snag on stuff - operate our device by remote, thus no constant juggling/risking expensive tech ..all without painfully loud or annoying control tones (and NO spoken words). our needs are simple: we listen to stuff as we work & walk around. we don’t make calls & we don’t plug them into cars. we listen to audiobooks/music all day long, literally while cutting trees & clearing property, always keeping our tech safely secured. the 5-way buttons (up/down/right/left/center) permit us to navigate audiobooks & music just by “feel” – no need to look at, or long/double-tap, anything – so the TT unit stays safe in a pocket. and we never have to pull out phones or tablets. new, out of the box, they last more than 16 hrs (on earbuds). after 15 months of virtually every-2nd-3rd day use, the oldest unit is down to about 10-12 hrs. we had one unit dwindle to about 5 hrs after a year, we let TT know & they promptly replaced it! investing in these allows us to choose: earbuds, exercise buds, over-the-ear, around-the-ear, whatever. they power everything we have. it’s rare to find such a simple & elegant solution to a specific need. and this one’s made by a firm instantly willing to stand fully behind its product. very highly recommended.
