A strange issue with my Wii U gamepad began to surface several months ago. While plugged in, it would have a tendency to disconnect/reconnect to the charger when moved. Even the slightest, barely noticeable movement could cause this. This gradually got worse, to the point of doing so nearly nonstop if it wasn't completely still, the screen constantly flickering as the brightness changed due to the ever-changing charger connectivity status. I didn't know if it was the charger, the battery, or the gamepad's port. After testing with the charging cradle's port and saw the issue was still occurring, I ruled out the gamepad port, as I never even used the charging cradle before. I also doubted the battery was responsible as I leave it charged 99% of the time. Once I plugged the new charger in, I saw the orange LED turn on for a few seconds(the gamepad discharges even when turned off, as all batteries do). It took a bit of effort to plug it into the gamepad, as it was an extremely tight fit. Then, I turned on the Wii U to test it out. I left the gamepad on all day, and used it for a good couple hours overall. The screen never flickered, and the orange LED indicator never came on while it was plugged in, and in use. I was right; the old charger was loose, and the extremely tight fit of this charger solved the problem! Pros: -Works just like the OEM charging cable. No need for special adapters. -Cheap. The OEM charger, brand new, is about $20 on Nintendo's online store. Refurbished, I believe it is $15. This one was less than $10. -Tight fit ensures that a loose connection to the port is no longer an issue, at least for a good while. Cons: -Several inches shorter, at least. The side of the power brick that plugs into the outlet is actually a few inches longer, but the side that plugs into the gamepad/charging cradle's port is maybe a foot shorter, or more. I didn't bother to measure or look up the exact measurements. The size difference wasn't a huge issue for me considering my setup, but I did use a Command adhesive strip to attach the power brick to the side of my nightstand, near the top, as a means of increasing wiggle room so it will be comparable to the old charger. -The tight fitting of the cable to the charging port is almost too tight. I had to struggle a bit at first, mostly because I didn't expect it. -Not OEM, so it may or may not last long. Only time will tell. -Doesn't attach to the power brick via USB port. This could be useful for those who would find plugging it in to a computer easier. I actually don't have a use for a USB charger, but I can see it being preferable to some. *I will post an update if it lasts less than 2 years. The old cable worked fine for 2 years and some change, so if this one fails considerably earlier, I will post about it. As for now, I'm giving 5 stars.
