Easy to install. Works beautifully under Windows 10

I bought this card to have an additional USB controller besides the one on the motherboard (ASROCK B250M PRO) so I can separate the Oculus system (2 sensors + 1 Rift) from all other USB devices. Windows 10 recognized the card immediately and I could see the RENESAS USB 3.0 controller in Device Manager. The Oculus Rift works very nice, no problems. The card is small and does not require power from the power supply. A definite plus. I recommend this card.

Immediately recognized in both Windows 10 and Linux Mint 19

Works fine, easy to install in a PCI-E slot. I used this to replace some ports that were broken on my desktop PC. High quality components and all 4 ports worked. Windows and Linux recognized it without having to install drivers. Only drawback is you can't boot using these ports (from a USB drive or external optical drive), as the OS has to load first to make the ports become 'live.' This is not unexpected, as during a PC's boot process, it generally does not recognize add on port cards, only those built into the motherboard.

Simply WOW !!!!

OK, my Gateway computer is a little old, but it is a competent I-7 system that serves me well. It's been adequately upgraded and came with SATA drives. My last problem was that the flash drive I'd put in was filling up to the level of giving me machine instability. With tax stuff to be done, instability was absolutely the last thing I needed so I decided to simply move picture data to aWD passport USB drive since it is relatively new and had space for a couple hundred gigabytes and more. Did I say that my computer had only USB 2.0, so it took many hours to get 300+ gig of files transported. So I ordered the FebSmart USB 3.0 card to avoid such slow transport speeds. As expected it came quickly and on time. The speeds promised seemed too good to be true and I didn't make speed tests so this is a happy qualitative report. Testing with a large file that would be very slow on USB 2.0, this file came over in seconds and doing apps that used lots of data from the back-up drive seemed just as fast as if I'd done them on the local flash drive. I am very, very happy! This is the simple connect path I will use soon when I clone my system drive to a larger one, but that will be after I do taxes. Wow !!!!

Plug and Play Windows 10

I am resurrecting and old Asus M3A78-CM AM2+ computer to run as a server from spare parts from old computers. Slapped a 250GB SSD in for a boot, 250GB laptop drive for backups, a 2TB internal, and the rest are 4TB WD external USB 3.0 drives. I found a used AMD Athlon 4X quad core 3 GHz CPU, and 8 GB of ram and threw in. It was then I discovered the motherboard only had USB 2.0 ports, not fast enough for the external drives. Bought this card (only additional money spent) to add USB3.0. Fit perfectly next to the Nvidia GTX645 video card. Turned it on, As soon as windows 10 loaded, it saw the new card, rebooted again, with the card, and that was that. Speed tests on the external drives outperformed the speed of the internal laptop drive so the USB 3.0 was working perfectly. Will update if I have any issues with it, but for ease of installation, it was a 5 minute 5 star job.

Works with ESXI 6.7 Passthrough to VM with Caveats

So been looking for a card that works with ESXi and found this card. Note, in order for this to work with 6.7, you need to do a bunch of things: 1) Disable ACS checking/validation. Through web interface: Navigator => Host => Manage => System => Advanced Settings => VMkernel.Boot.disableACSCheck = true 2) Enabled Pass Through, then reboot. (toggle) 3) Add to the VM, and disable MSI checking. # If your pciPassThru device number was 4: pciPassthru4.msiEnabled = FALSE 4) Reserve all memory for the VM. That's about it. :p

Worked like a charm.

My desktop has 4 USBs in the front, two of which were occupied by a Fitbit and Logitech dongle. I wanted to move these to the back, and this board allowed that with aplomb. This board is more expensive than the ones that have power connectors because it has 4 extra little power supplies (DC-DC converters; 12V to 5V) to power the ports. I paid the extra sawbuck because I had no spare power cables, and hate the unreliability of splitters and 'Y' cables. I have two areas for improvement, but they are, admittedly, splitting hairs: 1. Make CD driver setup name more intuitive; this disc is shared with other peripherals, and you have no way knowing this is the Renesas-based MAC-PHY part. 2. Shorten the card by about 300mil so that the front edge of the PCIe connector is also the front edge of the board; you'll save money, and it provides more room for chassis stuff (like video card fan clearance). The PCB is empty enough to support this, and panelization would be cheaper/easier.

Quick and easy solution for a lack of USB ports.

Is your marriage falling apart? Are you running out of USB ports? Are your kids abandoning you? Are you so lonely you get a cat but there's evidence that organisms in cat poop make you delusional? This is the PCI card for you. But it'll only solve one of the above problems. The package came quickly, was packaged with enough protective wrapping to avoid four pregnancies, and, best of all, came with installation screws. I'm always losing those like the people closest to me. Why'd you leave, Agatha? The installation was quick and easy, given I had a spare compatible expansion slot on my motherboard. I'm not sure if the included driver CD was necessary but it at all worked, unlike my love life. 5/5 would buy again.

Works great, installs easily.

I have my older Gigabyte motherboard is set up the way I like it, so there's a bit of inertia involved with buying a newer board, reloading and re-registering software, etc. BUT, my older mobo lacks USB 3.0, and I use thumb drives to transfer large PDF's with graphics, so I needed to speed up that process. What to do, what to do................ So after some quick research, I bought this add-on card, aand it works great! The driver CD worked great also. I use Windows 7 Pro 64-bit, and this installed quickly. So now I get fast transfers without hassles. I like the fact that this requires no additional source of power. If it does prematurely, I'll update this review. But so far,it's working perfectly.

Easy install

FYI: If you have an older Etron USB chipset on motherboard use the latest drivers for the Etron USB itself. As for this USB add-on card let Win 10 install the appropriate drivers. With my motherboard (Gigabyte GA-Z68XP-UD3rev1.0) chipset letting Win 10 install the drivers for 3.0 Etron chipset rendered this PCI-e USB 3.0 add-on card not showing up when running Windows Mixed Reallity PC check. Uninstalling the Win 10 drivers that were installed for 3.0 Etron and installing the latest (.119) from Etron resolved this issue. Update (12/07/19): This card will cause Win 10 to merely restart if you attempt to shutdown. The only way I was able to get the desktop to shut off was by holding the power button. Once I removed the card from the system the issue vanished.

Super cool, I love the color of the board.

I just built a new computer. Boy it is nice to have a new one. And though the motherboard (MB)has a lot of USB ports on them, like there just is not enough for all my stuff. So, adding these four more is just for convenience, the price was right I feel, I have the slot to use in my new MB and with Windows 10, it is simply plugging it in and it is installed, drivers and all. Next, I will buy a USB - C card down the road, but they are more expensive and again it will just have one, rather than a pressing need. I buy a great many of my computer parts from Amazon now. They are a terrific way of buying parts and I believe I have never had an issue with any of them. Thanks Amazon.
