Excellent value... I have Le Creuset and Staub pieces... this is so close it's hard to think about buying a much more expensive options simply for making stock, braising, etc. Looks very nice, too.

This has some of the advantages of a nonstick pan combined with some of the advantages of a regular heavy cast-iron pan, with a few disadvantages. Advantages It's not as nonstick as pans sold as nonstick, but it's not far off, and better than most cast iron that way, especially at the sides, where the seasoning tends to not build up as well for cast-iron pans. Makes cooking and cleaning easier. And no seasoning or curing! It has the same even cooking ability of a regular cast-iron pan of the same weight. The weight determines the amount of thermal energy the pan will hold. A heavy one like this won't cool down as much when you put something on part of it, and will continue to distribute heat evenly through the cooking process. More durable than nonstick pans. No chemicals in the surface coating to worry about. If you accidentally overheat the pan it won't hurt your canary. This looks better than regular cast iron, good color, though the lid color isn't an exact match for the pan color, as you can see in the Amazon photos for the blue 7.5-quart size. Looks better than the nonstick pans I've seen too, but maybe I haven't seen the best ones. This one has the little bumps on the inside of the lid that are supposed to drip condensed steam back down more evenly for basting and, possibly, help prevent as much condensation from making it to the edge of the lid where it would come out. Disadvantages Not quite as nonstick as true nonstick pans, as mentioned above. Most current nonstick pans can be washed in the dishwasher, but not this. The weight is an advantage for some aspects of cooking, but also a disadvantage for moving it around. It's also a disadvantage for quick heating--this takes a while to heat up compared to lighter pans. Doesn't take abuse as well as cast iron. Metal utensils aren't recommended. If you bang this hard enough you can chip the ceramic. Regular cast iron is near indestructible for ordinary use. What you don't pay for A Le Creuset pan costs a lot more, but you also get more. It can go up to 500 degrees in the oven, compared to 400 for this. It can probably also got a little hotter on the stovetop, though high stovetop heat isn't recommended even for the Le Creuset. You can use metal utensils with the Le Creuset, with care, though they still recommend the same ones you'd use with this one. And, the Le Creuset comes with a lifetime warranty, compared to one year for this. All that said, this is a very nice pan that can be used for most of what you'd use a Le Creuset for with equal success. Other points The measurements Amazon gives are accurate. The 7.5-quart size is just under 14-1/2" across at the handles, 12" across around the rest, and about 7-1/2 high with the lid on. The weight is a little over 16 pounds. (The barely smaller Le Creuset is about 1-3/4 pounds lighter.) There's exposed metal on the lid and the pan where they meet. That's normal--the ceramic wouldn't hold up there. Doesn't seem to rust. Made in China.

For the price, I think this is an exceptional value! It is heavy enough to heat evenly, but is manageable. The enamel color is beautiful, and it cleaned up easily. I'm quite happy that I bought this Dutch Oven instead of paying alot more for a brand name.

I've had this for about 6 months and use it a few times a month. So far so good. I was not expecting much for the price, but have been pleasantly surprised. Its a beast. Real heavy and really holds heat great. No chipping of the enamel. Not much discoloration. It's easy to clean, but I do hand wash it. It was nice to find a large capacity dutch oven at this low price!

I love this dutch oven!! I use it on my stove top (gas), in my oven (electric), on my grill, and pellet smoker!! I have cooked with cast iron on campfires and about every kind of stove or cook surface there is for many, many years. I have a larger enameled dutch oven but when I found this smaller size I was thrilled--my larger enameled dutch oven is a bit too big for 85% of my needs unless I have more than myself to cook for. Yes, it is heavy but it is cast iron after all. The enamel coating is so easy to clean, too. If you experience black marks from metal utinsils, use baking soda to scub the interior (using "elbow grease"), absolutely nothing more abrasive to maintain the integrity of the enamel surface. What a terrific dutch oven at an absolutely GREAT price--thank you Amazon.

There's nothing I don't like about these pots they are sturdy and well-made and have a really affordable price. And we all know that an animal is basically a form of glass so if you don't bump these around and handle them with some care they will last you a very long time. They're very washable and I recommend using a medium flame to cook on, because anything will burn on any pot if you use a high Flame. I've had a previous purchase on enamel pot for over 10 years and trust me use with some care this pot will last you almost a lifetime.

I love AmazonBasics stuff, I have the Blender, whisk set, dishes for everyday use and a few other things. This pan is my recent add. No its doesn't have a fancy French name on it and cost a small fortune, but what it does do is give you a super cool large pot to make roasts in, stews, soup and gives you an awesome deep fryer! These pans, even the French ones, need to be handled and washed with care, and if you do that, you will be happy as can be to get a 7.5 qt dutch oven for a really great price. I did an 8 pound pork butt in it right away, set the oven at 250 and put the whole thing in for 6 hours, roast came out perfect. Love this pan!

Very well made enameled cast iron Dutch oven. This enameled Dutch oven should last a long time and it works perfectly on my induction cooktop. It came well packaged with no chipped enamel. I'm looking forward to the first pot of chili made in it as the winter winds are howling outside.

I bought it, because I've always wanted an enameled Dutch oven, but could never justify spending the money on a Le Creuset. I wasn't expecting very much out of this, considering how inexpensive it was, but it is decent! The enamel is thick and even, and I can tell this will last many years! Maybe not quite the heirloom quality of the expensive French brand, but very impressive for the price!

I love to cook roasts, chili, soups... hearty meals that are easy to make. I decided to buy the 7.5 quart option because when I make a double batch of homestyle Italian sauce it barely just fit in my 6 quart sauce pan, and sauce would splatter all over the stove. Problem solved with this Dutch oven. So far I've made lemon roasted chicken, chili, and my home made sauce. The roast was cooked in the oven at 375 and the other two dishes were cooked on the stove. It's great to have ample room to cook. Cleaning is quick and easy, only one pot and so far nothing sticks and everything cleans off perfectly. I have not rated durability yet as I've had this for only a month or so. But I will say this pot is HEAVY, a very solid piece. The cover alone feels like it weighs about 8 pounds. It fits securely on the pot and keeps all the moisture in. Before I purchased this Amazon Dutch oven I was seriously considering a Le Creuset brand, but at 8 times the price I opted for the $50 purchase of this one. I had never used a Dutch oven before purchasing this one, and thought I should probably learn before I spend the big money. But if this one holds up I can't imagine needing something else. So far, so good. I'm very pleased with this purchase.
