Works well on old MacBook Air

When it arrived, the front panel on the drive door had popped off one of the connectors and I worried it was going to be junky. However, I pushed on it and it clicked into place and the drive has been fast, quiet and flawless. It worked with true plug and play on my old MacBook Air. I was pleasantly surprised to see that when I put European movies in, a pop-up asks me if I would like to change the zone to watch it. I have tucked it into my satchel and carried it around. It seems sturdy. It hardly weighs anything.

Great customer support

We are using this drive with a Mac Air and it is working great. We had an issue with the original drive we received, and I contacted the seller who was both courteous and helpful. We were sent a new drive quickly, and it is working very well. We purchased the drive to watch DVDs when we are traveling. It is very lightweight and thin and we can easily pack it in our case with the laptop for traveling.

Arrived as promised in excellent condition. Product worked right out of the box. This was a good CD/DVD player. It worked as expected. Plugged it in and inserted a disc and it operated flawlessly. I had no issues with it. Would recommend to my friends.

Nice product

The External DVD Drive is just as good as the apple product at a much lower price. I am mainly using it on my iMac. But I also tested it with my macbook pro and dell laptop and everything worked perfectly.

Exactly what I needed

Exactly what I needed. Exactly what I wanted. I am very glad that I got this external drive from DoHonest. This was super easy to use (like pushing the "EASY" button). Works great on my laptop that had a failed drive. Plays CDs, plays DVD. Both with no issues. Haven't tried burning a CD/DVD yet, but I am sure it will do fine. If you need an external drive, get this one. Thanks

You can’t go wrong with this!

This is exactly what I was looking for, and cheaper than one by Apple. Works great! I did a lot of research on these, and I’m glad I went with this one. You can’t go wrong with this!

Small - lightweight - quiet - external power supply not needed

This review is on the ZSMJ External DVD Drive which I purchased from Amazon seller DOHONEST. The drive was shipped directly from the Amazon warehouse and was in my mailbox no more than 36 hours after ordering! The drive arrives in a sturdy cardboard box protected by a plastic bag & styrofoam protective pieces. You also receive a small instruction manual. The manual really isn't needed for most people, but is nice to have. The drive I received is colored silver & black. The casing is sturdy plastic. The entire unit is very lightweight. Easy to carry around in your laptop bag if need be. The USB cable is about 12 inches long and is hard-wired to the back of the drive. My personal preference would be to just have a USB connector for a separate cable. You can just use a USB extender cable if more length is needed. Connection to a USB hub is not recommended because the drive gets its operating power directly from the USB port. You do NOT have to connect a power supply cable to this drive. Very convenient. In the odd case that your USB port does not provide enough current, a special cable is available that plugs into two USB ports, doubling the available current. I did not need this on my system. It worked fine from just the one USB port. I tested the drive plugged into a USB 3.0 port (the blue ones). This will give the best performance, but the drive will work just fine in a USB 2.0 port. Nero DiscSpeed Test results for CD-ROM reading Drive Optiarc DVD RW AD-7560A Firmware Version DX13 Speed:9-21 X CAV (15.68 X average) This is quite respectable performance. Drive speeds will of course vary depending on what is stored on the disk. Nero DiscSpeed Test results for DVD-ROM reading Drive Optiarc DVD RW AD-7560A Firmware Version DX13 Speed:2-6 X CAV (5.64 X average) Again, a reasonable speed was achieved. Burn test was performed using the CDBurnerXP software. Burning a 3.7gb ISO Linux OS to DVD took about 9 minutes. Also worth mentioning, the drive is very quiet compared to my 5.25" drive in my desktop PC. PROS: Small - lightweight - quiet - external power supply not needed CONS: cable not removable - disks must be 'snapped' into place, sometimes requiring a good bit of force.

Works well with Mac Book Air

Easy to use. No instructions needed, just plug and play. I'm using OS 10.12.6. Sleek looking and compact. I just got it so can't speak top reliability, but looks like it's going to be OK.
