doesn't work on alienware desktop arora 8, but work for others

I was expecting this to work, but the situation is that only the audio out works, not the audio in. The desktop can't detect it as any kind of microphone. I also tried it on my roommate's desktop, which is not an Alienware, failed again. ----------------------------------> UPDATE LINE Dec 12 2019------------------------------------------------------------ I changed from 1star to 3 stars, since the seller kindly contacted me and sent me a replacement. Amazing Customer Service! Great looking item! May not work with all headsets

[UPDATE as of 2020/5/6] I am NOW giving this item 5 stars because the customer service I received was nothing short of phenomenal. Though this item only worked with 1 of my headsets, the communication and the length that the customer service rep went to finding a resolution was simply amazing. They offered to replace the item for free deeming it defective but I declined because this item was simply being used for a temporary solution in my set-up. I do not believe this item is defective. I believe there may be a tolerance issue with the one headset that did not work. After explaining this to the customer service rep, they submitted a partial refund on my behalf. I believe customer service such as this should be recognized. That level of communication I would not expect from a $10 item. But it did and I am both thankful and appreciative. This item looks great and functions very well for my 1 headset. If the item for someone reason does not work with your headset, rest assured customer service will make things right!

Read This If You’re Having Issues

So at first, I was having an issue where when I plugged in the cable, there was a loud static. After a lot of searching through my settings, I found an option that allowed you to turn up the sound of your mic, and for some reason it was at max volume. In your audio settings, look for something that says +db, lower that to 10, and you’re golden. The cable itself is great! Does exactly what it’s supposed to do, unless your settings get in the way.

High quality product

So I need this to play games online with my homebuilt desktop computer and I couldn't be more pleased with the sound quality. No static and snug connections. If you need this type of connection, look no further, you will be pleased with your purchase. I have used this for a number of months now before writing this review, so I assume they will last much longer. Have fun.

Consider a splitter like this if your headphones do not split already

I bought this for my laptop, which has separate ports for headphones and mic. The headphone port alone does not pick up mic input, so consider a product like this if you plan on using headphones that have a mic but only have one headphone connector. As for this product specifically, I have not experienced any problems. Build looks pretty solid: metal parts are cleanly machined and the cable is braided. Would probably not recommend excessive bending but that goes without saying.

Works!

My sound card in my PC wouldn't separate the mic from the speakers on an xbox one headset. So I picked this up and it does the trick nicely. Able to use any type of headset with this setup, including iPhone headphones. Durable construction means I won't have to replace it anytime in the near future..

Perfect for SkullCandy

I have SkullCandy Hesh 2 Wireless headphones. I have an online class this semester and needed a splitter so I could have wired audio for my PC. The package came in a very slim envelope -- at first I was worried that there wasn't anything in it! The package came in a small plastic bag. The jacks feel like they're good quality and the wire is sturdy. Works perfectly. I just plugged it in and my PC recognized it without me having to add a device. Had great quality sound for my 3 hour online class and never had any breaks in audio. if you need something simple but works well, I highly recommend.

Seriously, this company makes very pretty cables that look and feel high quality. I didn't think that mattered to me, until I've spent some time with these. They're nice.

Works great! I'm using this splitter for a set Razer headphones. It has a coaxle, but it originally came with a splitter like this. I've been looking online for a splitter cable like this for a week now. Thank you Amazon! The splitter works great!

I love this splitter

I love this splitter. I needed one desperately. It works exactly like its supposed to. No loss in quality, no dropped audio on the mic. I wish I got this earlier. If you don't want to pay outrageous amounts for a typical pc headset, get this for your existing headphones.
