Good stuff. Cable good quality. Battery is so much more convenient than AA’s. You can play and charge at the same time, which is a life saver. Before you can only play when the controller was plugged in, but now with the additional battery giving you the charge feature, it’s a game changer. Really smart of them to make a kit with these two products that allow you to play and charge at the same time. I’d recommend this to anyone who wants to not only play, but charge also. 10 out of 5. Would play and charge again.

This was a perfect replacement for the Microsoft charge kit we initially used, which had stopped working correctly. Very, very happy with this charge kit. Works perfectly with our Xbox One controller. I especially appreciate the way the charging light changes from amber to green when it has finished charging, and love the braided cord. Very happy with this charge kit and would definitely recommend it.

(Summary at bottom) I saw some reviews mentioning certain dislikes about this product, and I thought I would clear the air. These batteries are Nickel-Metal Hydride (NiMH) batteries, and not Lithium Ion (Li-ion) batteries. That is not really a bad thing, but NiMH batteries come with certain limitations that Li-ion batteries do not. These limitations are because of the nature of NiMH batteries, and not because of poor design by Amazon. (unless you count them choosing NiMH over Li-ion a poor design choice) NiMH batteries are cheaper, and for this kind of application, just as good as Li-ion. (as long as you understand these limitations) Dislikes I have read about: "The console does not display battery level correctly with these batteries" This is because Alkaline or Li-ion batteries (which is what most other batteries for the Xbox controllers are) have a slow and gradual drop in voltage as they discharge, and this is what the console reads, and displays in the battery meter. NiMH batteries on the other hand, maintain a pretty constant voltage as they discharge, up until about the last 5% or 10% of the discharge cycle, where they drop voltage very quickly. What this means is that when you use these batteries, the console will display a full, or nearly full battery meter, up until about the last 1-3 hours before the batteries die. "The cord that comes with it does not let you use the controller as a wired controller, or really work with anything else." This is because NiMH work best with a low power 'trickle' charge. This either eliminates, or greatly reduces the chances of overcharging the cells, and causing damage to them. Li-ion batteries do not have this problem because they usually have a voltage regulator circuit, and a charge state monitor that automatically cuts power to the battery when fully charged, even if you leave it plugged in. In NiMH batteries, the trickle charge allows you to leave it plugged in without overcharging them. The cords contain only low power circuitry, and not data circuitry. They DO output enough power to power the controller with or without the battery in it, but the controller will still connect on bluetooth, and NOT a wired connection. "The batteries get hot while charging" This is normal for most NiMH batteries as they approach a full charge. Once you disconnect the charge cable, they should return to normal pretty quickly. As long as they don't get really super hot, (especially while discharging) it's fine. They do have a vent for the gas buildup if they get too hot. "These batteries discharge while your not using them for a while" NiMH cells naturally discharge faster than Li-ion cells. It's just a byproduct of their chemistry. SUMMARY This a great value for the price as long as: You don't need the cords for anything else. You don't need a wired controller connection on PC or console. (can still power the controller for a bluetooth connection) You are ok with the battery meter on the console becoming pretty much useless until the last hour of charge. It does what it is supposed to do, and nothing else. If that's all you need, you can't go wrong with this product.

I love that this has an extra long charging cord compared to the Microsoft set. And I like the large red and green lights on the cord compared to the tiny lights on Microsoft's. Keeps a charge very well too.

This seems to have 2 1.2v NiMH rechargeable batteries in series, probably Amazon's own, which have been tested to be very similar to Panasonic eneloop batteries-which are excellent. The charging cable is an interesting and convenient addition. That is because this battery pack can be charged by any micro USB cable, the charging itself is controlled by the controller's MCU. The cable they provide is merely one with a built in current sensing circuit. Once a battery is charged to its maximum voltage, the current it draws drastically decreases, this cable simply lights green when that happens. I charged a power bank with it, and it did the same. TL;DR the batteries are high quality and the cable provided allows for flexible charging if it is not available.

After having a couple official Microsoft (MS) rechargeables just die on me within a few months of purchase. Going to give someone else a try. Only been a week or so with these, but I am happy. They are a tad bit larger than the MS ones, but I had no fitment issues. The included braided USB cables are nice. One thing I noticed - The amazon USB cables charge the MS batteries, but the official MS USB cable would not charge the amazon batteries. Not a big deal, actually prefer the amazon cable. I have had no issues playing and charging. Haven't tried to use a cable without a battery though to see if that works. I think that is what others are saying in reviews that does not work. Interested to see how the capacity on these holds up being they are not Li-ion

Works really well! Takes a little long to charge but it's still usable while charging and when it's done I'm about to get about 25-30 hours of play before another charge is needed. Will definitely be buying again when I get another controller

I’ve had it for 2 months now and it’s been working great, as advertised. A straightforward installation and has worked flawlessly.

needed 2 new controllers this year. After several failed charging docks, batteries, widgets and gizmos, I got Microsoft OEM last time around. I decided to try Amazon Basics since the entire enchilada was less than 1 set of OEM. Boy was i happily surprised. These work, the cables are HIGH quality, the fabric wrap lends an extra sense of durability. I see no discernible difference in latency or lag, batteries hold perfect charge. Highly recommend.

This is a great deal compared to the plug and play kit Microsoft offers. Got 2 long braided charging cables and two batteries for less than the cost of 1 from Microsoft. The battery gets a little warm when its charging but I've been using it for several months now and it keeps a charge for just as long as the original used to. Definitely would buy again.
