Living single I’m always looking for smaller pieces. I wanted cast iron but I don’t family-sized bakeware. Because I use my toaster oven 90% of the time, I wasn’t sure if it would fit inside. However, to my surprise, it fits and I didn’t even have to lower the rack! I’m VERY happy with my purchase! Knowing it goes from the oven to the table makes it well worth the price, it’ll get plenty of use in my tiny apartment.

This little Dutch oven is perfect for baking a 700 gram loaf of no-knead bread. I was pleased to find that the casting flashing has been removed and the lid fits well. The finish is a bit "pebbely", but still nonstick for baking. I would rate the overall quality as excellent. This is another durable pot that will last a lifetime if properly cared for.

Nice seasoning from factory. Baked empty before first use. No bad odors. Made bread as this was my intended use.

The problem with the "no-knead" bread recipes is that they make one loaf, and the most Dutch ovens are too big, about 4 to 4.5 quarts. This 2-quart Dutch oven is just right; the straight sides force the dough to rise upward, not spread out. The handles are easy to hold with oven mitts and pot holders. The product description here at Amazon is that it is safe to 500 F., a must for most no-knead breads, although the limit printed in the instructions is 400 F [oven]. We have used it at 450 to 500 F. with no problems whatsoever -- Amazon is correct! And the bonus is that this pot is very affordable.

This item came pre-seasoned, and wrapped properly and in great condition. The instructions inside deatailed how to care for the cookware (I swear they must have been written by my grand father, who taught me how to use Cast Iron and convinced me it is the best). I have used it MANY times. It is by far the best cast iron cookware on the web. I can not say anything bad about this.

Great pot but had to pre-season several times to get that nice tough shine. Directions are included but I researched seasoned cast iron and found that they need to be baked and oiled several times even turned upside down rebake now they're perfect

Before you go off on a cast iron adventure, here are some things to know. 1. All cast iron can crack and break - since they are brittle by nature. One way to think about it as sturdy stoneware. 2. Amazonbasics will get you there pretty much - in terms of all your needs for the cast iron cookware. 3. Before you use, rinse with hot water and dry immediately. Then start working on seasoning your cast iron. 4. I use vegetable shortening, oil or canola oil. Know their smoke points. For ex, vege shortening is 350-370. Set your oven temperature to 450 degrees. Bake for 1 hour with the pots overturned on the racks after applying a thin coat of the shortening on cookware. This creates a thin layer of baked (polymer?) oil on the pots and pans. 5. When you cook with your cast iron, start low, give it time to heat up as cast iron is a poor conductor of heat but is good in retaining the heat due to higher thermal mass. 6. Add your cooking fat, spread it around with a silicone spatula (so you dont scrape off your seasoning - if you do, no worries, just reseason). 7. Cook your meal. 8. Empty your pot, remove any food sticking (you should have very less if you follow all the steps). Then wipe down the pot with a paper towl, rinse and dry. 9. Apply oil or shortening and heat pan on stove top to smoking point for 3-5 minutes. Turn off your stove and put the pot away from water sources for storage. A final point, I bought both Lodge and AmazonBasics products, I have to say that I am very impressed with Amazon for packing their product super well. I got both products on the same day, Lodge in its original packaging - broken on arrival, and AmazonBasics bigger heavier and unscathed!!! At this price, have fun, what are you waiting for!!! Note: I did not receive any incentive for this review, just loved the product and service from Amazon and got down to writing.

I don’t know why they asked if this was “easy to clean”. Unless you 100% know what you’re doing, cast iron is always a pain to clean. Too much water? Not enough water? Am I even supposed to be cleaning this with water? Did you add enough oil? Too much oil? Did it dry out properly? Who knows. Anyway, this thing is awesome. Plan on using it on the grill to smoke things and can easily go into the oven. Good product.

Cheaper than any other cast iron pots and works. Not too sure about their pre-seasoning oil. Wipe most of it off and smear it with coconut oil a few times. Heat it up and your ready.

Update 12/28/18, After a little soap & water to remove any manufacturing residue we cooked the first of many beef rib roasts, in short PERFECTION! We highly recommend the Dutch oven.—————————————- I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything packaged so securely as this 7qt Dutch oven. It was triple boxed with the lid in it’s own box. The unit itself was manufactured perfectly, it’s preseasoned exactly like a lodge brand is. The material thickness is the same as lodge. It’s a Christmas gift & it’s still a week before so no pictures yet but there’s absolutely no reason not to expect this Nice big heavy Dutch oven will be passed down to one of our daughters. At this point I absolutely recommend this product. I am in no way associated with any product or seller and have never received any product for the expressed purpose of review.
