Grinders with a cover

I ordered two sets of grinders - this one and another set that is higher-end. Guess what - my husband prefers this set because he can readily see which one is which, and I agree with him. What makes this set stand-out for me is the fact that these have a cover to keep them from possible foreign agents, if you will. When we had mice infestation, I threw a bunch of stuff out of our kitchen out of frustration and tiredness from disinfecting items. I bought these primarily to replace what I threw out and the lids specifically caught my attention. I still kept the higher-end set for the dining table. These ones stay on the kitchen counter for daily cooking purposes.

Efficient and attractive!

Really like the appearance of the set. I got the smaller ones. What I like best is that they turn upside down to grind. My old set was in one position only and it caused a lot of spillage when not in use and messy. They also got rusty after a year or so. Appreciate that this is a family owned business as well.

Smooth grinding

I wasn't sure what to expect. I've used cheap store bought plastic grinders and broke 3 of them. I bought these because they had a high rating so I figured we try them. They do what they're supposed to but one thing that surprised me was that it's effortless. I had to grind my pepper over a white plate just to check that it was grinding. It was and works great. Also, I left a 4 star on the Seller and not a 5 star and I can't change it. The product is as it was advertised and was in good condition when it arrived

Works well and is affordable

Almost five years ago I bought a Cole & Mason Derwent pepper grinder that was recommended by a national test kitchen. I spent $40 on it and have been very happy with its performance. I wanted to get a salt grinder to pair with it but did not want to spend another $40, so I bought the Oxo Good Grips salt and pepper grinders. I was disappointed with the uniformity of the grind size. In any of the settings I would get a combination of large and small pieces. I can deal with that for salt, but with pepper I either want all coarse or all fine. Not a combination. With the Home Ec grinder set, I think I have found the perfect combination of price and performance. I uploaded pictures so you can hopefully see what I mean. The first picture shows the grinders I'm talking about. From left to right they are the Oxo, the Derwent and the Home Ec. In the 2nd picture, the rectangular platter shows the Oxo (top) and the Derwent (bottom) at their fine, medium and coarse settings. In the 3rd picture, the round plate shows the Home Ec. For that one, the grind size is set by a dial, and I used the lightly snug closed position as the starting point. On the plate, the 12 o'clock position shows 2 360° turns counterclockwise, 8 o'clock is 6 turns and 4 o'clock is 8 turns. From what I can tell the Home Ec grinders perform just as well as the more expensive grinder. On top of everything, I also think that these grinders look good and would fit just about any table setting. In summary, I'm glad I found these grinders, and look forward to a lot of years of happy use. (And in case you wondered, I paid full price for these and nobody offered me anything to leave this review. I just found a product that worked well and hope that you all will have good luck with it too.)

Salt and Pepper set

While I adored this lovely set coming out of the box, it seems one is defective. I put rock Himalayan salt in one and course black pepper in the other. The one with salt wouldn't grind the salt. It just gathered around the seal part and I would have to twist it 50 times to get anything out and it wasn't very fine. I adjusted the setting to the course setting and it still is just as bad. I gave two stars because one works while the other is just trash. UPDATE: The seller of this lovely salt and pepper set contacted me via email and offered a refund and a complete set sent to me at no charge. I changed my rating to 5 stars because there are always malfunctions, but great customer service is hard to find. I will look for other items from this company for gifts.

Great salt and pepper grinders!

These are easy on my hands and just the right size for my table. Excellent communication with seller! Solid product. I recommend these highly .The seller was very helpful and friendly! They are a wonderful company to work with. They even included a funnel with which to fill the salt shaker. I am impressed all the way around!

Easy to lead, clean & use with wide mouth access must have item

Originally saw @ a restaurant and got for my kitchen. Gr8 for every day and company. We luv to cook, great to have fresh ground salt & pepper... it's perfect . Durable, easy to load and clean with the wide mouth access

UPDATED REVIEW

I originally gave these grinders a one star review, due to me not getting any response from customer "no-service" as I called it. The grinders I was sent originally were defective, one of the dials wouldn't stay in position, and the other dial would only grind with the dial set to all the way open, and then it would only grind fine, when at that setting it should have ground coarse. I contacted the seller, and initially received no response, so I sent the grinders back and gave a poor review of the grinders. Michael, a rep for Home EC, the grinders seller, contacted me through my e mail, and told me he wanted to make things right by sending me, free of charge, a new set of salt and pepper grinders. I received the new grinders a couple days later, and after putting them through their tests, making sure the dials worked properly, and the spices ground to my satisfaction, I contacted Michael to let him know that I was happy with the grinders, and would be writing a favorable, new review for the grinders. so, here it is, the updated review, five stars given for the great customer service Michael gave. I deleted the other review, as it no longer stands.

Great Ceramic Grinder - Small Price

I was surprised at the quality of this set of grinders Salt and Pepper or anything else you want to grind. Glass container with screw on stainless steel ceramic grinder. This is not the cheap throw away plastic grinders. I use it to grind my specialty seasoned sea salts... my favorite is from the island of Kauai called Guava Garlic Seasoned Sea Salt.

Grinders work well!

I bought these after a serious search. I have never had grinders before so this was a first time purchase. I looked at more expensive ones and cheaper ones and settled in these based on the reviews. They do not disappoint! If you have a chef kitchen I dont know how well these will hold up, but for your every day home use cooking for a family of 3 that loves pepper (we dont use a lot of salt though) these have been a great addition and way to used fresh ground salt and pepper.
