Perfect Little Machine !
I have to say, this is a pretty neat and efficient little machine ! I have a home business and I have storage bins full of invoices and receipts that I have to keep on file for a minimum 7 years. I now have everything online and saved to the cloud. I LOVE IT! This scans super fast and takes up very little space in my office. It DOES scan color (I read another comment that it didn't scan in color). You just have to remember to make a new scan setting and adjust all the options. The software is super easy to use, its basically plug and play. Crazy easy to use, and fast to copy documents etc to the cloud, hard drive or wherever you want to file them away. I wish I found this years ago! Five stars in my opinion :)

Device small but powerful
If you took the time to properly set it to the options that suit your needs it will surprise you. The scan image quality is high, it's a small footprint but it's made very well, scans both sides at once, can ignore blank pages and auto crop with different size scan document. If you don't have lots budget, this scanner will suit for you

Easy to setup, easy to run and fast
Unlike so many other scanners I"ve owned, this one is simple to setup and operate. The software is clear and it is easy to set various profiles (e.g., high quality color with OCR or low quality black and white with no OCR. It is speedy too.

Great Scanner
I bought this scanner just because of the price, but now I just found out that this scanner can do a lot of things far beyond its price. At the beginning, I just use it to scan important letters from old friends. Then I start scanning receipts, shipping label and work documents. I am a columnist, so I have plenty of journal articles that need to be revised and digitized, and the scanner indeed helps me. Now I can search the materials by keywords and organize them. In addition to this, the surface of the software is clear and helpful for someone like me- computer illiterate. In summary, I will recommend this scanner to everyone who works from home or simply just need to scan something to their PC.

Great scanner
I was a little worried when I first opened the box. For the price it seemed just a little small and didn't seem like it would hold up to regular use. So far it has done really well. It is very quick and in all the time we've been using it, it hasn't even jammed. Only issue I have with it is adding on the extra paper guide supports. If you put these on then the paper path is too narrow for standard pages to put in the paper feed. We just left these off and it's been good.

as well as to organize past students' data/records for easy access. I purchased this piece of equipment in ...
Small, speedy and efficient piece of equipment for a low budget office. It is really helping my primary school's administration office to tame the paper pile-up.Thousands of past students' files stored in file cabinets are now being scanned and stored digitally, thanks to the Plustek PS 186 Speed Document Scanner. It is helping our office to reduce storage needs, as well as to organize past students' data/records for easy access. I purchased this piece of equipment in the first week of January, 2018 and I have absolutely no regrets. I highly recommend this scanner.

Flawless and super easy performance in scanning documents.
My computer crashed and Neet decided they wanted $7 a month to let me download and use their software, that I had already bought and paid for. No way, EVERYBODY, STAY AWAY FROM NEET, so I bought this Plustek PS186. I bought a refurbished one. It had no disks, no instructions, and no calibration paper, which it says is necessary, but I managed without. Found the company website and downloaded their software. (No charge, unlike Neet) Had a lot of trouble getting it to work because they have so many download possibilities and it does not tell you which ones you need, what order to run them it, or anything. Download speed was also extremely slow. Ultimately I got it working and I am very happy with the performance, so far. I need a scanner for documents Almost all black and white. Presets are easy to modify to your preference. You can set a particular folder to scan to, scan to file type, and dpi (100-600), etc. for each profile. That works great for me. Tried it on color documents and results were not too good, lots of lines, even at slow 600 dpi. For black and white docs, it is excellent and fast. Since that is what I need it for most, I am happy with my purchase. You can also easily set or modify a profile to eliminate blank pages, auto-rotate, enhance characters, etc. If you are not pretty computer savvy, stick with the brand new one, that includes the disks (I did not know mine was going to come with no disk). Probably should give it fewer stars but there are these nice advantages too: It folds up quite small, and the folding top keeps dust out of the scanner - that is a major flaw for most other scanners. The document sheet feeder has side guides up high to keep the paper straight, is nearly vertical for good use of gravity, and I have not had a misfeed, so far. (1 day) Before the day was out I had the ultimate test: A 100+ pages two-sided three-hole punched transcript. I did it in two files, each roughly half. Flawless, and so easy. Push "Scan". (I have preset 1 set to a multi-page pdf doc at 300 dpi to be sent to the "scanned docs" folder on my desktop.) I originally posted a 4, because I was so annoyed with the lack of a disk, but went to 5 stars because I bought refurbished, so I blame myself. I saved money for that hassle, and don't think I should blame the seller. I love the product.

Great price for the scanner jobs I needed
This scanner helps me to clean up the mess on my desk. There are documents and paper clips all over my desk for a long time and I have difficulty to find the necessary documents at the moment I needed. So I got this scanner at a very good price to digitize my documents. The setup installation is simple. The scan software already contains pre-set scan profiles for users to scan. I can also configure desired scan profiles for my own. I mostly use this machine to scan documents into searchable PDF files. The overall OCR results that I've scanned so far are pretty good.

Very nice scanner for its price (and it does scan in color)
I saw mostly good reviews about this product. I have been wanting to scan few year worth of papers for a long time and this scanner fit my requirements. At one point of time I almost was going to return it because it said gray scanner, so I thought it was black and white, then I clicked on +new and went through creating a profile which allowed searchable color multipage pdf. Created multiple profiles for each type of scanned item. Speed is ok. Individual pdf takes some time to save, multipage goes through quickly and in the end saves it, though one nuance is after scanning a set of papers, it comes up with an error about no more papers instead of stopping and saving, need to see how to get around it Overall I am very happy with the scanner.

We definitely recommend for the SOHO
We were previously using a large office copier scanner which began having issues after the fall Win 10 update. Our Neat scanner which is great for receipts, was too slow, and couldn't handle more than 20 sheets at one time. This Plustek (albeit small), can handle large stacks of paper (50shts at a time) and scans very quickly (2 seconds a page) at 200dpi/grayscale. We do not scan much in color, but when we do it at 300dpi, it doubles the scan time to about 4 seconds a page. It jams only when it finds a hidden staple; about the same as the office copier. We definitely recommend for the SOHO.
