Strong, supple, beautiful piece of leather

Great piece of leather here. Strong enough to stitch right at the edge, a small amount of stretch to form easily. The color is beautiful, looks just like the picture. The lighter streaks come and go as the leather is folded and bent. Very supple and has a great hand and smell. Couldn't be happier with the purchase.

Good for light stuff

Actually some good quality leather. I thought it'd be thicker and heavier, but that's an oops on my part, I should've known. Makes great craft/decor projects, does fantastic for a knife sheath or a belt, but a pistol holster?....It better be lightweight and slim profile, because a heavy pistol moves and wobbles this leather too much.

Make a strop from this leather and sharpen some knives!

I used the leather from Hide and Drink to make a sharpening strop. After cutting the leather to size, I used contact cement to attach it to a board. I then loaded the leather using green compound and butcher block oil. I’ve made several strops in the past, but this one is quickly becoming my favorite. The leather is easy to work with and plenty smooth enough for this project. I have leather left over and plan to make three more strops of this size and load with different grades of compound. I loved the weight and texture of this leather. Great product from Hide and Drink.

Very Good Quality

I will admit that this is the first time that I have bought leather for crafting, so while I am not an expert I was impressed with the overall quality. The leather was thick with a dark and consistent color just as it was pictures with a nice firm but still smooth feel to it. I was very satisfied with the quality and my project turned out very well and quite honestly looks like I likely paid $50-$100 for it when it was done with around $6 worth of leather. The next time I want something out of leather I am coming back for more right here.

So, this is the second time I have ordered this leather. The first one was perfect. This one is also great, but it did have a nickel sized blemish right in the middle. I do mostly small pieces so I can work around it, but it is worth noting. Additionally, there is a logo branded into one of the corners on the back. It shouldn’t show up on the stuff I make, but I will have to work around it, which complicates things more than I would like. Let me be clear, this is still a fantastic piece, but not as good as the previous one I received. Edit: It caused minimal issues and produced some awesome stuff!

Leather Square (12"x12") is top quality!

This leather is wonderfully supple, soft, very workable, dark brown and beautifully flawless and I bought it to make a strop (sharpening tool) for my carving knives of all things.....this leather is top quality and I shouldn't have wasted some of it on a strop, but I did. I have saved the rest for a sheath for 2 of my knives and I bought lower quality leather to make strops from later (they get cut by these sharp knives eventually when sharpening them) Hide and Drink's Leather is awesome!!

Great craft leather.

It was hard to tell from the photo online exactly what I was ordering, but trusting the word picture, I went ahead. It turned out to be exactly what I was looking for. I made a hand grip for a walking stick, and it turned out great.

this is a FANTASTIC square of leather!! it's not too thin, or floppy... not excessively thick either - the color is beautiful, no 'natural' nip or scratch marks. the backside is just as great- actually has a nice feel to it. I love they indicated the thickness as 1.8mm - it allowed me to easily know what I was getting vs weight in ounces; which is common, but for those who aren't aware ounces alone is not as helpful. (CONSISTENT 1.8MM across the 12"x12" pc) NO storage odor issues. the seller for this: Hide and Drink - is providing a quality product!! thanks to the group for doing so - I will be purchasing more!! maybe additional color variations at this 1.8mm thickness will be available at some point?? GREAT QUALITY!!

Beautiful, wonderful quality! Worth every penny.

This leather is beautiful!! Once I make it into a Sheath for my hubby's knife I'll post a follow up. But so far working with it has been wonderful. I will definitely be purchasing more. He has plenty of axes, knives, and other sharp tools that are in need of some nice covers, cases, and sheaths.
