Best toast of any toaster oven I've owned!
I've had this toaster oven for about a month. I use it practically every night and have been very happy with it. The controls are simple, it heats quickly and cooks well. Most surprisingly, it makes great toast! The toaster slot on the top is unique, as far as I know, and results in perfectly even, browned toast. Finally someone figured out how to do this! Highly recommend!

Just what I needed.
The toaster was straightforward. It was a little tricky to figure out how get the oven to come one. So much easier to clean than a conventional toaster. I like how it toasts and I can bake things hear when I don't want to turn one my regular oven. This is the larger model, but still uses much less space than two appliances.

Real toast again, at last!!
We LOVE this oven and toaster combo. We've had toaster ovens for years, and I didn't realize how badly those all in one units really made dry, unevenly toasted bread. The bread is perfectly toasted every time! We are getting used to the oven as it cooks very efficiently and does quickly heat to a true oven temperature better than other units we've owned. It is a smaller unit than other ovens, so it won't be able to cook more than one Thanksgiving side dish when the holidays roll around, but we appreciate that it is excellent at what it was designed to do: toast and be an alternative to cooking up some french fries or heating a small casserole when we don't want to turn on the big oven. The controls are super simple and easy to use. We aren't bothered at all by the ding when the timer ends and the timer ticking doesn't bother us at all. Our old oven had an annoying digital beep every time we accidentally bumped the controls and this unit is such a refreshing change. A true testament to the KISS principle (Keep It Simple Stupid!) We covered the slide out tray in foil to easily clean up drips and crumbs. And, the tray truly does slide out easily. There is enough clearance between the tray and its oven slot that fairly large crumbs or pieces don't get scraped back off into the oven as you pull the tray out. We also like that the tray does not have to be tilted or angled to get it out of the oven like our old one. It's almost too good to be true! We hope to have this oven for a very long time.

Works great, both as a toaster and as an oven
Works great, both as a toaster and as an oven. This is not a small piece, so read the measurements carefully. Very powerful, so dial those toaster settings back until you know what your mileage will actually be. In all, this is a great idea to combination countertop kitchen appliance.

Nice little oven, glad I took the plunge and bought it reconditioned.
First, the lower rear heating element does NOT glow, as this is stated in the manual as well as on their website. The heating elements use different wattages but will still cook evenly... That said, it's cooked everything I've thrown in it from Jalapeno Poppers in a muffin pan to pizza directly on the rack evenly and thoroughly. I'm kind of wondering what I need a convection fan for? Guess I'm not really baking in this thing, so there's that. Only downside is the toaster timing seems a bit off as even on the highest settings things don't really brown all that much. But I'm hoping this stays consistent though as it cooks my waffles and toaster pastries just fine. Toast could be a tad darker though. I can't speak to the durability as I've not had it long enough but I'll update this review should anything happen in the short term. Update: Had this combo oven for a little while now and it still works great! My Favorite thing to cook in it so far is shrimp springrolls. They come out super crispy and still juicy inside. I LOVE this oven!

Excellent Toaster Oven!
This is an excellent toaster oven. Solidly made. Two separate levels for rack for cooking. Toaster is perfect. Timer for cooking. Makes noise when heating up guess it's the steel expanding?

Mystery solved - rear heating element
Like you all, I read allllllll the reviews about the rear heating element issue before ultimately buying this toaster. I was nervous it would be defective like it had for so many other people. I was also VERY excited to buy this. Who doesn't want a combo pop-up toaster and toaster oven, right??? Anyway, I followed the instructions upon first update, and ran the oven at 450 for 10 minutes without any food. I immediately noticed the rear heating element didn't illuminate at all. SO SAD!!!!! I called Hamilton Beach within a week, and they were happy to send me a replacement. (Side note: their customer service dept is amazing... hats off to them.) However, they also said there is a significant wattage difference between the front and rear heating elements. They told me the rear heating element will APPEAR not to be heating at all when, in reality, it's doing what it's designed to do. It's still working, even though it appears off. Customer Service encouraged me to test out the unit by cooking something. They explained if it's actually malfunctioning, it definitely won't toast evenly. Then they walked me through how to get a replacement unit, should mine be functioning improperly after all (so nice!). I tested out three pieces of toast: one in the oven portion, and two in the pop-up... and they are PERFECTLY TOASTED. This unit works just fine, even though the rear heating element never turns orange **because it's designed that way.** I love this thing. It saves a ton of counter space, and the toaster functions great as a 2-in-1 without sacrificing quality. Buy this. Stop obsessively reading reviews. It works great!

Compact, just the right size, versatile and easy to clean.
Ideal for baking small batches, toasting the largest slices of bread, making a personal pan pizza, garlic bread, etc. I love this on summer days when we need to cook something small and don't want to heat up the oven for 25 minutes then bake for 10, etc. Heats up the entire kitchen. Instead, bake in the toasted oven - no pre-heating. And, yea, it has the classic "ding" when it's complete. There are four heating elements, length-wise, approximately in the corners. Most times only a couple are on. There's a tray that slides on the wire shelf, plus the entire bottom slides out. I use the tray more often than not because it catches stuff from the wire shelf and stops it from landing on the heating elements. About the size of a typical bread box, it firs unobtrusively on most counter spaces. I can't believe the instructions actually have to tell people NOT to cook a pizza in the box.

Amazing!
I was hesitant on buying a toaster oven or toaster due to the lack of counter space but I wanted to be able to teach my son how to cook his own lunch and he loves having bagels for breakfast. This has given him so many more food options and has saved so much space!

Overall, I’m extremely happy with this product.
I needed to replace my 18 year old toaster oven and it had to fit inside my appliance garage. I tried a couple of other brands and returned them because one was very cheaply made. The other fit but I couldn’t get the door closed because the handle stuck out too far. This one fits and I didn’t settle for anything less. I love it. It’s heavy duty. The crumb tray pulls out easily. The tray on one Of the others I tried was difficult to pull out because the door had to be open. I had to tilt the tray upwards and the crumbs would roll back into the oven. The toaster works great and toasts evenly. I like having two levels for the rack. I’ve had to adjust the temperature lower to bake frozen biscuits by 50 degrees. They came out perfect. It does get hot on the outside. I don’t use the timer when baking because it’s not very accurate.
