Worked great, was easy to install. works to my phone wifi or off Cell phone. WELL WORTH IT
This is one well made easy great product. I tried one of the cheaper made in China brand motion camera and I had so much trouble just connecting with the app and I am good with these things. I finally sent it back after being annoyed at trying to get it to work. Even went though company and they could not get it to work So my lesson was I am glad I went with Ring a well known brand. There is nothing cheap about and it was easy to setup to Wifi it takes you through the steps as the camera tells you step by step what to do and if your still confused on your phone it takes you through the steps. So even someone not to good with this stuff can do this. I plugged in the camera in the house before installing it and setting up the Wifi and testing it and the functions with my phone where I felt good that I understand how it all works. The I installed in on side of garage. I do a lot of electrical work and am comfortable doing so. I cut the cord and drilled a hole the size of the cord allowing me to run cord through the outside wall to camera to a inside splice block then attached to the garage door opener outlet on ceiling 13 feet from floor making it very hard for someone to disconnect ( big garage)

Great camera, wifi issues solved with Chime Pro
I've really enjoyed using the Ring Spotlight Cam. We set it up above our garage overlooking our driveway so that we can monitor when people come and go from our basement Airbnb, and we purchased the black version which blends in really well with our red/tan brick house. I also like the smaller size because I was worried it would be an eyesore on the front of our house, but it's actually barely noticeable. We were able to run an extension cord to reach an outlet on our roof and attached the cord to the brick using the provided clips. Initially, we did not get a good signal because it was installed far from our wifi router, so we purchased the Ring Chime Pro and that did a perfect job at extending the wifi signal to our spotlight camera. I'm sure most of the problems that people run into are due to a poor wifi signal and slow internet speeds, so if you fix those two issues then the camera will likely function very well. The picture and sound quality are great, and my spouse was able to hear my voice very clearly when standing in the driveway. The custom motion zones are also awesome (huge upgrade from the first Ring doorbell), which prevent us from getting false alarms from cars passing by. The live view also works really well with little to no delay. We have the light setting turned up to full brightness, and that provides the perfect amount of light and is not obnoxiously bright like some other spotlights in our neighborhood. I'm also really glad we purchased the wired camera instead the battery powered version because I would hate to have to worry about charging the battery. Overall, I'm very happy with my purchase and this camera has given us much more piece of mind. By the way, I'm sure most people know by now that Ring's customer service is second to none. Keep it up!

Revised review -- Ring Spotlight Cam Wired -- Excellent Product -- Very Happy with it

Wired over wireless, hands down!
We started out with the wireless for simplicity. Or plan was to hang it on the front gate to our property. The idea was that we would then see deliveries and visitors and could open the gate remotely when appropriate. We had problems with false positives and returned and replaced the wireless version with the wired version. The difference for our particular use case was night and day. With the wired version, we can more granularly define the area to monitor and this has totally eliminated false positives with the exception of rain which we can live with since we don't get a great deal of it (this year is an exception) in San Diego. If you are trying to decide between wired and wireless and have power or are able to get power, definitely don't over think it and go for the wired version and spare yourself some aggrevation.

I love this device....
This is my 5th Rind camera. We love their devices and their customer service is second to none. I have used the Ring devices now for over and year and I have found them very dependable. This device turns bright LED lamps on at night when motion is detected. Also, I can turn the light on with my Ring app at any time and advise how long I want it to illuminate. There is an alarm that can be sounded through the app as well if needed. You can get notifications sent to your phone for each motion detection. You can setup motion zones in the app that you want the camera to monitor. You can setup multiple zones for one camera so as to exclude any areas that you may want to exclude. There is a sensitivity setting as well that records all motion or only human action. Ring offers a recording service that I take advantage of as well. Every motion that the camera picks up is recorded and stored for viewing and may be downloaded if needed. If you use this service Ring gives additional warranty to the device for as long as you have the record service offering replacement for items that may fail while you keep the service. You are required to keep continuous service to keep the extended warranty intact. I find the app in the Apple and Android version very easy to use. Over the time that I have used the Ring there system I have found it to very rarely be down and the few times that they have had any issues I have found that they resolve them very quickly. I love the image quality that this unit produces. It gives me a piece of mind. If I hear something at night it is nice to have these to monitor what is going on. The app alerts usually before I even hear something and often when I don't. I can view it at home or across the country. Anywhere I have internet connection. I do love Ring.

Happy camper here
I have several Ring products. Happy camper here. Only one complaint, and it is a Big One.......The Spotlight Cam Light Cannot be turned off. Just confirmed with Ring Customer service. The default setting on the Spotlight Cam is always on when motion is detected. There is no way as of 2/2/2018 to permanently disable the on/off setting. Only the brightness can be adjusted. Motion always triggers the light activation. Even under the rules setting. Adding or deleting a motion zone has no effect. Any Motion Detection=Light on......... The sensor has a 180* view and will catch motion before you enter a zone. This allows for the lag time so video can be recorded. Maybe an update in the future but doubtful since this cam has been out for a year now. The marriage with Amazon will likely bring new products to the market this Spring/Summer.

Highly recommend! Great camera.
I have 4 ring Floodlight cameras in use at another property. I really like them so I was excited to see the new Spotlight camera added to the ring lineup. I tried the ring Stick Up Cam Solar prior to ordering the Spotlight and I ultimately returned it due to being spoiled by the better build quality and overall camera quality of the Floodlight Cam. I included photos to show the field of view comparison between the two. While they aren’t installed in the exact same location, you can see just how much better the Spotlight Cam looks. As expected, the light output is greater on the Floodlight Cam but the Spotlight Cam does a good job of lighting up the immediate area around the unit. After installing and using my first Spotlight camera, I promptly ordered a second and installed it as soon as it came in. Both have been operating as expected. The camera video quality is great, the field of view is awesome. I have already influenced at least one friend to buy a wired Spotlight Cam and he is just as happy with it. I do wish that ring would add some more customization to their iOS app. It would be great to be able to reorder the cameras in any order you want vs left to right based on order of set up. It would also be nice to know if the motion detector triggered the lights or if the lights are on for extended periods without having to open the app. I found that after losing power at one property while not there that the lights stayed on after power was restored. I just happened to notice they were on when I was in the app and had to manually turn them off. HomeKit compatibility would rock too! Anyway, the Spotlight Cam is great! Way to go Ring!

Honest In-depth Review from a Tech Nerd
I’m a very big tech junkie and am very intrigued by Ring. I first bought ring doorbell 2 and loved the product and app so I went and purchased the Ring Spot light cam wired. The reason I opted for the wired version was I don’t like messing with batteries, however if I were to buy the battery version I’d buy the second battery pack to eliminate down time. The wired version is nice as your getting constant power. Then camera also starts recording motion faster with the wired version versus the battery version. Setup: super simple follow Ring app instructions and you’ll be up in running in 10 mins or less Install: I live in Nevada land of stucco homes so it takes a little longer to drill holes and place anchors. The ring mounting bracket comes with a level built in to make install easy “Pro tip I learned from my door bell” once you have the mounting bracket level I used a thin nail to start and mark my pilot holes for when I had to drill, which made the install even easier. Once you have the holes drilled anchors in installing is a breeze. The most time consuming part well for me as I’m OCD is space the holes for the cable clips. Overall the physical installation took 20 mins do to me being OCC. the cable is paintable to match your house. My stucco is white so it was a non issue. Functionality: in order for Ring,Arlo,Nest ect to work properly will require good WiFi and a good router. All these web based on demand cams require good WiFi if your WiFi or router isn’t up to par you’ll have a bad experience. I run a NetGear Night Hawk Router that I can pick up WiFi halfway down my street so no range extender needed for me. If you have a big house and your router is on the opposite side of the house from your cameras either buy the chime pro extender or better yet by a mesh WiFi like EERO or Orbi or googles mesh routers “you’ll thank me” the better WiFi signal the better your devices will operate. The App: The Ring App is super easy and user friendly and about to get even better here with new updates and usability. The app allows you to manually turn the lights on and off sound the siren create customized motion areas “a feature the battery version doesn’t do” as well as set the motion distance for the lights to come on. While reviewing a motion activity or in live view you have the option to turn the lights on or off as well as sound the siren. The app also keeps you informed of any issues with Rings servers or any downtime or issues with devices. The Ring cloud service is outstanding and it’s very reasonably priced at $3 a month which is cheap. I don’t need 24/7 video I only need motion events so $3 a month is a great value. The motion or activity alerts are fast and show up on your phone quickly. The two way communication is nice and clear to tell would be questionable people to buzz off if not the alarm will scare them away and wake your neighbors. Overall I am very satisfied with my Spotlight cam wired and my ring doorbell and plan to add more ring devices very soon, with the upcoming software updates from ring the experience is going to get even better. Again I can’t reiterate enough you have to have good WiFi and router for this device or any of the competitors devices to work properly. I’m a very very picky person with electronics and can say Ring Spot light cam wired met and exceeded my expectations. The neighborhoods feature within the app is also a great tool to keep you informed of activity or events within your community. Again I highly recommend this product
