Hooked it up, inserted two 3.5" hard drives, turned it on, and windows immediately picked it ups. This is a great add-on if you have more drives than you can stuff into your machine and want to use them. My only gripe is that the clone button and the on/off switch are on the wrong ends. I don't know if I will ever use the clone function, but I turn the drive off when I shut the system down at night and have to reach behind the unit to shut it off. Other than that, I highly recommend this if you need additional external storage.

I needed a HDD and SSD duplicator/cloner that would do its thing without a lot of software and technical know-how and this Sabrent USB3 dual bay dock IS IT! I had a 3 tb internal hard drive that was acting fickle and wouldn't start up at times, as it was loaded with files I need and programs I use, I really needed to clone it. The Sabrent Dual Bay dock showed up in the mail yesterday and today I pulled the drive out of the computer (DELL XPS 8700 running Windows 10 Pro)... put the current disk in "A" and put the new blank WD 3 tb Black drive in the "B" bay... both blue lights came on (one for each bay)... then as per instructions, I pushed and held the "duplicate" button until the blue light came on... then did the "quick push" of the duplicate button and the stand alone cloning process began! 2.6 TB of data and programs were transferred to the new drive in less than an hour! I pulled the new, freshly loaded HDD from the "B" Dock after turning it off. Installed it in my Desk Top Computer where the old drive was and everything booted up and is running smooth as glass! I could not be happier with the simplicity of this dock and the ability to pull drives, clone them and replace old with new with zero software installed to handle the swap. LOVE IT Ok, now the downside- I have another Desktop XPS 8700 running Windows 7 Pro. The C-Drive has been running out of space and I felt that it is just undersized. I "thought" I could just clone that drive onto a larger SSD and my problems would be solved. Nope, the C-Drive on that Desk-top is a hybrid HDD/SSD drive and it cannot be cloned. So, that was a fail. But I half expected it not to work like that. So don't go expecting to consolidate a hybrid drive onto a single SSD with this dock, even when using the Echo 3 Cloning Software. I will continue to use this Dual Bay Cloning system to replace drives and even makeup and store full backup drives of my operating system. It just couldn't be easier to do. I highly recommend this Sabrent DUal Bay Cloner to anyone, regardless of their computer experience level.

Running my primary OS off an SSD (256GB) with a 2TB mechanical drive for storage. Mechanical drive for data, records, games and even programs. That two TB drive was an older refurbished unit but had worked faithfully for some time (made in 2011!) ; all things come to an end and this drive was no different. The dreaded mechanical clicks of impending doom caused a frantic search for a less tedious method of replacing the drive than manual data migration. This dock cloned my ticking, clicking drive without issue, saving me time and sanity. Cloning a 2TB drive took all night but, nifty little blue leds on the dock reported the progress handily. I did wipe the destination drive with a software solution first, maybe the cloner would have taken care of that but didn't want to chance it (there's always a time investment to be accounted for). Too bad the dock itself doesn't have a drive eraser function. Otherwise; it will be used again but if it never sees daylight again, I got my moneys worth :) Added bonus, it's sized and packaged nicely for easy storage and handy retrieval. An older docking unit of mine needs its own garage.

Had startech single docking bay that keep disconnecting my HDDs and corrupting everything (PAIN), this one did found an error at copying for one of the HDDs, but didnt disconnect and I was able to re-continue the copy without a problem! Dont plan to use clone feature anytime soon, just need to acess my extra HDDs for backups and retrievel of stuff, and this one has 2 slots, what a fantastic feel, to be able to manage 2 extra HDDs at once! (tested it plently last night, changing alot of data between 4 HDDs, 2 inside, 2 outside, at the same time, very stable and reliable, never got copying problems after the first time either) Connected the product to my faster USB port (3.1), even if this doesnt enable such speeds, all I know is that my previous one said 3.1 and 10 Gbs (I know it is only usefull for SSDs), but I m getting faster writing speeds on my HDDs with Sabrent, and the product is ligher than Starshit, my 2 years of constantly dealing with corrupted/missing directory backup HDDs are hopefully over, this product is AMAZING! (Only complain with this product is that they could have fit inside a power plug adaptator for European audiences)

Working in the IT\IS field I needed something to replace my aging single HDD dock. If your looking to purchase look no further and click Buy Now. It works flawlessly and is very fast! How fast? Is 400-500 MBs w\USB 3.0SS fast enough! Documentation is well thought out with pictures. Yes, even a village idiot might be able to figure out how to use this dock without the need to call tech support? The on\off switch is a nice added bonus to save power and\or be able to use it at some external storage as needed without having to buy a case for extra drives one may be having around. Do yourselves a favor and buy a copy of Acronis True Image, R-Studio, and AOEMI partition wizard and there should be no basic task the average weekend warrior can't handle before an O's$%t moment occurs. Thank You Sabrent :-)

Great 2 bay docking station. I have had one of these years ago, and was looking to get another. This was pretty good, the only thing I wish was a feature is being able to power off each slot independently, but I did not find a quality brand that had this option. I never used a duplicator function until I received this, I never intended to use that feature either. I was replacing a drive that was bad in an older MacBook Pro and purchased a SATAIII SSD and this MacBook required a SATAII drive. I decided to duplicate it I figured might as well let it try while I went for lunch. When it finished I put it in and to my surprise it booted up on the SATAIII drive that is not supported. Cloning the drive with disk utility did not work, but this hardware duplicator worked great.

I received this product just before 6pm on delivery day, along with a new 500GB SSD drive and a 2.5 to 3.5 mounting bracket. I immediately opened the packaging and got to work. I cracked open my PC, and removed the existing 3.5 inch clunky 500GB HDD. I put my old HDD in the A slot, and then opened up my new SSD and but in the B slot. I connected the power to the dock and flipped the switch. The two blue lights on the side lit up along with the green light on the front. I did as per instructions and held down the copy button, as soon as the blue light came on on the front I let go and then immediately did a quick tap to the copy button, and the 25% light started flashing. It took just over 45 minutes and then all progress lights were solid blue, so I powered down the dock removed the new SSD drive and put in in the mounting bracket and into my PC. Switched it on and it was good to! To note, my system had slowed way down, and observing task manager it was a lot to do with 100% disk I/O constantly. The SSD drive cured that problem and this device made the transfer from old HDD to new SSD absolutely painless. Highly recommend this device as a standalone disk cloner.

Sabrent USB 3.0 to SATA I/II/III Dual Bay External Hard Drive Docking Station for 2.5 or 3.5in HDD, SSD with Hard Drive Duplicator/Cloner Function [10TB Support] (EC-HD2B) SOLD by Sabrent I find these very handy when making a back up drive or when trying a different operating system. have been known to recover the old crashed drives. Easy to use, can be used as a port for hard drives will copy/back up drives stand alone, not connected to computer. They make a single bay which is good but this dual bay makes everything much easier. Time to make back up depends on size of hard drive being duplicated. Times to duplicate start from 30 minutes and go up from there. Lights indicate operation pending and completion. I am not associated with the seller nor did I receive product or monies for my random review. 181010 1200

The old magnetic hard drives in my and wife's PC's were getting old and I wanted to replace them with new SS drives. Removing the drives from the PC's was easy and offline cloning in this docking station was as easy as making toast. Just pop the drives into the appropriate slots and hit a button twice and the cloning begins. It took about 1 hour to clone my 500gb drives. The instructions are simple and also show you how to get the new blank hard drive formatted which is needed before cloning.

Arrived on time. So far worked perfectly, but I just got it and used it 2 times. I have both this version and an older version. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00IKC14OG/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&th=1 This version recognized a defective copy drive and would not continue. I put the same drives in the older version and it tried to clone but just ran for hours. So it looks like this version is better in that respect, I have no way to determine speed comparison. I should also mention the older unit is 3 years old and never failed until now, if you can call it a fail it was the drive that was bad not the unit.
