I had bought a Zugu case a few years ago for my iPad mini. The plastic casing surrounding the corners was thin and cracked and chipped very easily when I inserted the Mini into it. When I wrote a mixed review about that, Tim the owner very thoughtfully sent a replacement but unfortunately it cracked again along the corners and about 5 months later pieces broke off again. However, I still enjoyed using the Zugu because the super strong magnetic stand is fantastic and I think easily the best out there on the market. (FYI, when Tim asked for feedback on the replacement and I told him it cracked again he offered to send another replacement. I told him it wasn’t necessary as the cracks were small and at that time didn’t interfere with the integrity of protecting the corner.) I was having some issues with the mini and my Apple care had long run it’s course so I bought a 9” iPad and immediately ordered a Zugu for it. I was delighted when I received it because I noticed Tim changed the design. The magnetic stand is still the same, but the plastic is much thicker cushioning the entire iPad. It really reminds me of an Otterbox for an iPad. There is no chance of any cracking along the corners at this point. The plastic is like a thick somewhat flexible silicone. You can pull back on the corners or sides a bit to fit in the iPad. His previous design was not really flexible so you kind of had to ease the iPad in from one and and then snap it to fit into place from the other. This new design is as durable as they come. The magnetic stand is still as strong as ever with 7 divots to choose from as far as how high or low you want your iPad to be propped up. Although I didn’t buy one, the Zugu also has a nylon sleeve on the back of the case to store your Apple Pencil/stylus pen. Thank you Tim for the improvements made. I can’t sing their praises enough!

Although I love this case, especially the magnetic stand, it does have a couple flaws. Specifically around the charging port and volume controls. The cutouts are well sized and accessible but the case edge is flimsy in these areas. Likely due to the size of the cutouts, there is loss of rigidity on the screen sides in these areas. Hoping these areas don’t loosen even more, guess time will tell. Everything else about this case is stellar, nice leather, solid feel, perfect for the new iPad 5. I’ll come back and adjust rating in future if the aforementioned areas loosen over time, but for now I’m sticking with 5 stars for the solid build quality and clever magnet stand. Bit pricey, but I feel it was worth it. ***Update 08/17/2018*** I’ve had the case for about 7 months now. It’s my daily use case and is showing absolutely no signs of wear at all. The somewhat flimsy areas around the volume controls and lightning port haven’t loosened at all. The magnetic stand is genius, no other case I’ve had comes close to the versatility and stability of this case. Definitely still a 5 Star product.

This is by far the best IPad case on the market. It is rock solid and is truly a quality case. I believe the ZUGU case makes your IPad twice as useful because it allows you to use the iPad on your lap or stomach while laying down so well. It has 7 preset locations that allow you to lock the case in an open position at 7 different angles. Once you open it and pick the angle that's right for the situation, which takes 2 seconds, it locks in place and is so sturdy you can almost throw it around and it will stay at the angle you set it at. The leather is of high quality and the design is genius. I bought my first ZUGU case three years ago for my iPad and have shown it to many people because I think once you put your iPad in this case and use it for a couple days you'll never go back. ITS THE BEST IPAD CASE I've EVER SEEN!! This new iPad 5 version is much thinner than the one I bought years ago for my 2 edition IPad, just as the IPad 5 is smaller than the 2. Couldn't be happier with this case!!

This case is really all that it claims to be. There are two suitable magnets on the back of the kickstand that allow the case to be solidly propped up. The rubber around the sides of the case is a little looser than I’d like it to be in a few “middle”spots away from the corners, but the corners (where it counts) hold the iPad tightly into the case and don’t seem like they’re going anyway in a fall. I’m confident this case probably would protect the iPad in a fall. (I’ll update the review if that happens.) The stand honestly holds the iPad so solidly that I’m much more comfortable typing on the screen and may not even bother to buy a keyboard (although I do miss the feel of the keyboard keys and may buy one anyway). This is a really good case, and I believe the product description is very accurate. I’m very happy I bought it. My place of work uses other popular and very sturdy, drop-resistant cases with a magnet that wraps around the iPad. I think I like the functionality of this case much more and trust it to protect my iPad just as much. I think it’s more convenient to use and much less cumbersome or bulky than other secure iPad cases. Also worth mentioning: when looking at the pictures I was worried about how well the case held the Apple Pencil. The pencil is well held in place by the long piece of elastic. I’ve been shaking the case sideways and the pencil doesn’t budge. It makes me a lot more confident in the idea of taking my Apple Pencil along with me on trips with the iPad. This is a great case. Update 5/1: While being ordered to empty pockets completely and remove all electronics and food from our bags before getting to the TSA tables (while still standing in the moving line), I was completely frazzled and dropped my ipad for the first time about 4 feet onto the hard airport floor. Absolutely no damage to the ipad whatsoever, and even the Apple Pencil was undamaged in the back of the case. I feel this product is completely worth the 5 stars and is well designed and completely does what it is designed to do.

I had a hard time deciding whether to give this a 4 or 5 star review. The case is very nice and has lived up to my expectations! The magnets are excellent and do not make the case weighty as I suspected they might. In fact, the case is surprisingly light and yet seems to provide pretty good protection of the iPad. I especially like that there is a raised edge around the screen so that when the cover is shut, the screen is completely covered and protected. This also means that there is only one position from which it is easy to open the cover. I like how stable the magnets make the iPad in the different angled positions. It is quite easy to type on the screen in one or more of the lower positions. One frustration with my previous iPad case was that it was very flimsy when standing up. If I tried to watch something on my lap, the iPad would inevitably flop over. This one will not! It seems like the iPad is equally stable in any of the positions. The case looks and feels great, and, as I already said, it is very light and not bulky at all. The magnetic kickstand lies relatively flush with the back of the case and is held in place by the magnets. One comment in some other reviews is concern about the flimsy nature of the cutout areas. I am not too worried about these. The case does flex a little more around the volume control buttons and the power button, but it still seems very sturdy and unlikely to break anytime in the foreseeable future. The Pencil case is also very secure, but I am still a little nervous about how exposed the top of the Pencil seems to be. As great as the case is, there are two things I am not pleased with. First, I don't like how the inside of the cover is the part that sets on the table or other surface. My concern here is that abrasive particles might stick to that and then (over time) mar the screen. Second, it is not very conducive to holding. The cover folds back just fine, but it would be nice if it were held in place somehow. It slips around back and forth a little even when the Pencil is not in the case. The case is great if the iPad is always standing in horizontal position but is not the best when trying to read something in vertical position (though I will admit here that I have not done a lot of this yet). Overall, this is an excellent case for the price, and I am pleased with my purchase!

A+++ Enjoy making the right decisions in life? Well, don't overthink this one! Buy it right now! You'll love it and never look back! We have 7 iPads, and each time I've purchased a device, I do too much research, read too many reviews, overthink every possible flaw, and waste too much time trying to find the "perfect" case. Well, no more wasted time and effort for me, because I finally found the "Holy Grail" of cases! :-) Do I work for Zugu? Sounds like it, right? But, NOPE! Do I know the owners or any employees? NOPE! Have I dealt with their customer service? YUP, they're awesome! Have I received any compensation for this review? ABSOLUTELY NOT! Do I wish I started buying these cases 7 iPads ago? 100% YES! I bought one of these cases (black) for a 2017 10.5" iPad Pro and loved it so much, I bought two more (black and purple) as gifts for users of 2017 9.7" iPads. Everyone says they're the best cases they've ever used, by far! Since I have nothing negative to say, here are a few of the KEY POSITIVES for me: -- Solid/formidable and protective case, but thin (not bulky at all). -- Looks very stylish/classy. -- Perfect material that will not fray/fall apart like so many cases do over time. -- Several viewing angles. This is a big deal. If you've used other cases that offer only a few angles, you'll quickly understand what a pleasure it is to use this case. -- Each viewing position "locks" into place due to use of built-in magnets. The magnets are just the right strength, so it's easy to secure your iPad in place (no struggling because magnets too strong -- no sliding out of position because magnets too weak). This is a hugely important feature of this case. It feels like your iPad is on "solid ground", so to speak, no matter where you place it. No worries about it sliding out of position, having to hold/prop it in place, or having it flop out of a small holding tab (that you'll find in the design of so many other cases). -- Simple to set up. The case easily glides into place around the iPad and it's instantly secure. Answers to a few questions (that I had prior to purchasing): Q: Does the extension (arm that swings out to prop iPad up) get tin the way at all (when laying iPad down or anytime)? A: Not at all. Zero issue. Don't waste your time thinking about this. Q: What's the deal with the pen/pencil holder on the back of the case? A: Really, you should view this as a true "feature" (a positive, not any sort of negative) of the case. Honestly, I wondered if placing an item in this holder would taint my experience using this case. It doesn't. I stored an Apple Pencil in the holder and it's just not an issue at all. If you have something in the holder while using your iPad, the holder is on the back of the case (not the bottom), so there are no problems. If you have something in the holder while the case is closed and you lay it down on that side (with holder), then it's true that the case is not totally 100% flat upon a flat surface. However, just trust me, this is extremely negligible. It just doesn't matter! I wondered about it too, but I use this every day and it never even enters my mind. Remember, if you don't use the holder, it's a non-issue. If you do use the holder, you'll see, it just won't be a concern. Q: Do the magnets detract in any way from the performance of your iPad (drain battery faster, cause interference, etc.)? A: I told ya' that I do tend to overthink at times, right? So, did I post a question for other users and Zugu? YUP! Did I do my own comparison test? YUP! So, just in case this ever crossed your mind, or you're thinking about this now for the first time, according to all the feedback I received, as well as my own testing, I don't have any concerns with this whatsoever... and you probably shouldn't either! :-)

BOTTOM LINE: Great true magnetic case for fridge plus stand that protects well despite being thinner than other brands. Simple, sleek, and super functional design. We use four iPads in our house, so I bought four of these in four different colors: black, navy, red, purple. A few years back I bought an iPad case where the entire back was magnetic, which was great because it allowed me to put it on the fridge and watch cooking shows while I cooked; and my baby in the high chair can FaceTime with daddy just by scooting the high chair closer to the fridge. But that case wasn’t ideal as it wasn’t a protective case, just a sleeve with a magnet back. What I really need is a case that would protect my iPad in case anyone dropped it, have a way to stand on its’ own, hold an apple pen snuggly, AND be magnetic. When I went looking for my ideal case, I found a bunch of cases that had similar stands and the description would say magnetic, but they were only magnetic in that it “clicked” into place to stabilize the stand. NOT that they were magnetic in a way that it would stick onto the fridge. When I came across these ZUGU Cases and saw the picture that shows the iPad on the fridge and the capability of it standing on its own, I got excited. There was another case similar to this Zugu case, but the way the Apple pen sleeve is designed in this Zugu case, it’s seems it would be easier, or less annoying to get in and out quickly. Efficiency affects productivity, and my time is important, so little functional design elements like that make a difference to me. The case itself reminds me of my Speck Wallet Cases for my iPhone, it’s deceptively simple, yet functional in all the ways you need it to be. These Zugu cases are just well designed. Our iPads are used occasionally by our kids, six years old and under, learning colors, numbers…etc. They’ve dropped them multiple times now and the cases have done a perfect job of protecting the iPads. And the stand is so simple to use, even my three-year-old knows how to prop it. Awesome. My brother has even taken advantage of this magnetic case to stick his iPad to the inside hood of his car when working on the engine and watching YouTube videos! If presentation is important to you or if you’re planning on giving this as a gift, know that the Zugu cases came in a gift-like box, wrapped in tissue paper with a faint patterned Zugu lion logo. Nice.

I love it! It looks cool and it feels nice. I purchased this case as protection for my iPad (6th gen.). If I had any complaints whatsoever, it would be that my dog’s fur completely fills the interior of the case in mere seconds, but that is his fault and mine for having an American Eskimo pup. I love my dog, and I feel good about this case. I only hope that it will provide the protection promised. I took time to actually input my own rating because, while I was searching for the best iPad case, I found ZUGU CASE of being the only one with a 5-star overall rating! I found this hard to believe, especially after skimming through a few comments, but I now see that those are some honest reviews now that I have a case of my own. The price is worth the item, and I also love the packaging. Not the usual amazon package, but the cool box that carries the case inside all snuggly. Overall, the people that made this case clearly put a lot of effort in it and did not hold back on its representation.

I LOVE this case. I’m never buying another brand again. The magnets hold my iPad securely in place at seven different angles, even when I’m typing or scrolling down or side to side, and big bonus, they’re strong enough to attach to the fridge. The next time I pull up a recipe on line, it’ll be eye level and I won’t have to deal with an iPad in my work space. The old one had deeper grooves than any I’d used before but it still fell over at the slightest movement and touch. My husband and I watch a documentary or YouTube video on the iPad when we go to bed and it was irritating to have the case constantly collapsing and shutting the show down. I logged into amazon specifically looking for a lightweight, sturdy case that would both hold the iPad at the angle we wanted without collapsing and shut it down when we closed the flap - another thing my old one didn’t do, despite the manufacturers claim. Last night was the first night we were able to watch a show with the iPad propped on a pillow and we didn’t have to hold it in place and it didn’t collapse every time we moved. I read the on line newspaper this morning and loved that I could secure the screen at an angle that works with my bifocals and scroll around without the device constantly falling down. I’m fine with it not being real leather - I have one that is on our old 3rd generation and it’s no more pleasant to the touch than this one. It’s also not as lightweight. I carry my iPad in my purse sometimes, so lightweight is important to me. The only thing I miss about the old one is the 360 swivel, but that’s only an issue if I’m playing certain games and need to be plugged in at the same time. Aside from that, I couldn’t ask for a more functional, attractive case.

When I bought this iPad, I asked myself what is goning to get me to pay the extra money for this iPad case over all the others. I have been an auditor for 20+ years so I analyze everything. I looked at reviews and the write up for days before purchasing. Hopefully this will save you some time. I am here to tell you that it’s definitely worth the money. I am a very frugal person. When I read all of these positive reviews, I decided to purchase the case. The biggest thing that sets this case apart from all others is the magnetic stand. There are seven levels that can be used to prop up your iPad for viewing. I loved my old iPad case but when I placed my iPad in font of me and then tried to click something or scroll down it fell. This will not happen with this iPad. I also lay down in bed, sometimes I set my iPad with this new case on my tummy and sometimes on a pillow...again it does not fall. It prompts up so I can watch Netflix right in front of me in bed while my iPad sits on a pillow. This is the most amazing feature for me. My next concern was that it needed to be durable. I cannot tell you that it survived this or that but I can tell you that it looks very durable and that it can survive my child who always thinks my iPad is better than his. You can also see that the vendor tested the durability and states how high of a fall that they know it can withstand. I really liked that they stated a heigh of the fall it would survive. My last cover looked like it belonged to a child. Whenever I took it to a conference I had to switch to a black professional looking cover. Not with this case... it is thin but not too thin and has a very professional look to it. It was also real easy to but on my iPad. After purchasing, I planned to write a review because as a mom this was a big decision to spend the money that I did on this cover (i.e. buy something for myself) so I contacted customer service to see if they would reply promptly. They were very prompt in getting back to me. I was very pleased with customer service. Lastly, I read the reviews that talk about how the sides fit. While I can see what they are talking about and very much appreciated their reviews, after purchasing the case it is not something that gives me any concern as far as durability. The iPad is securely in that case.
