Flawless
When I was considering this software solution to an issue I've worked through on many occasions, I was struck by the diametrically opposed user reviews, all of which seemed to be pretty honest and candid. Not wanting to move all my programs, settings, etcetras by hand again (whatta hassle!!), I went ahead and sprung for the 40 Bucks American and got a copy of this "use-once-and-never-again" software. I figured that if it worked as advertised, it was going to be well worth the price of admission. I was moving all of my stuff from a WIN 10 Home computer to a WIN 10 Pro computer. Each HDD was a TB in capacity. I followed the instructions EXACTLY.....To the letter. The method of transfer I elected to use was without the cable. My transfer of programs, settings, and general computer behavior was accomplished in a matter of about 3 hours over my home WIFI network. Everything except my passwords was moved accurately. I use the Opera browser as my primary browser and have a "start" page customized with groupings of web sites I frequently, um, frequent, and even that customization was transferred accurately. Same with all of my e-mail settings and folders in Thunderbird. All of the junk I left on my desktop in the old computer re-populated the new desktop. This software solution exceeded my expectations, and by a pretty wide margin. Yep, I'd use this stuff again and have no hesitation recommending it. I don't understand how, if the instructions are followed, some of the users found it less than.....Flawless.

Worth every penny!
I had the luxury of warning signs before my computer died. Given that, I began to wonder if there wasn't some way to transfer my dying computer's contents to a new computer, instead of having to re-install and reconfigure everything on the new computer. After doing a little research, it became clear that Laplink's PCMover was the only game in town, so for $50, I decided to take a chance on it. The negative reviews were a bit unsettling, but the prospect of setting up yet-another new computer from scratch was worse. The fact that the process was reversible was the deciding factor for me. I am SO glad I decided to try it!! After a little bit of initial setting up, we set it loose. We did the transfer using the included cable, and it took about two hours to complete. Wow!! There were a few things to tidy up and one or two programs to re-install, but it was light years better than doing it all from scratch. What used to take me a week or two only took a little over a day. The worst, as always, was iTunes. I haven't found any other way to deal with iTunes than to do a manual installation and set up. It's a total pain, but the pain was eased this time by how easy PCMover Ultimate made the transfer of everything else. Reading between the lines of the other reviews, I think your satisfaction with PCMover Ultimate will depend on how your computer is configured. If you have a fairly conventional setup, I think your chances of being happy with PCMover Ultimate are much higher. I thought it did a remarkably thorough job and couldn't be happier.

So glad I got Laplink PC mover!
I bought LapLink to move my files and programs from my old desktop to my new desktop, and everything transitioned easily. The software also came with SafeErase software, but I put off erasing my old computer because I couldn't decide what I wanted to do with it. A few weeks later I clicked on an infected page with my new computer, and my virus protection software told me to do a reboot in safe mode and follow some steps to ensure my computer was protected. Unfortunately, I rebooted without access to my network, and had never used anything but a pin on my new computer. That meant I couldn't log in, though I did everything I could find on the internet to address this issue (thank goodness I still had my old desktop for searches). I finally took it to a computer repair place and they had to basically wipe the computer and reinstall Windows. Because I still had my old computer -- and because it was the same duo of computers I had used for the original transfer -- I was able to set my new computer up again. (I was concerned because the software is only supposed to be used for one transfer, but when I reached out to LapLink, I was told I could do it again with the same two). I was SO HAPPY to be able to restore my new computer with LapLink. It was easy and (relatively) quick and painless. I would definitely buy and use this again!

now that microsoft......
with the release of windows 10, windows EZ Transfer went away. It used to come with Windows 7. PC Mover was reccomended by Microsoft so when I just purchased my new Dell 5720 I went with their reccomendation.I will tell you it was easy to install, I did watch some videos on line before just to get familiar with it. It moved all my files over but I did call GO Daddy who hosts my Outlook Mail to :fix a couple settings, AOL to help me reinstall my account , Dymo to get my address labels, and finally Bose Sound Touch to relink my I tunes from my saved on computer . Even talked to PC MOVER tech folks and they all were helpful! all files were transferred but the above accounts needed further tweeking and I reached out. Must of been a slow day did not have to wait long to reach all the above tech supports! And PC MOVER is still much better than rebuilding your computer from scratch.

Works Great If You Follow The Instructions.
I read alot of reviews on this product before buying it, and the reviews were very mixed. But it was the only game in town, so I decided to give it a try. It worked perfectly!! Took about 1.5 hours to transfer everything from my old PC to my new one, using the included high-speed Ethernet cable. (Please note, this is not a regular Ethernet cable, so you can't just use one you have lying around). Since it worked for me with no issues, I can only surmise that those with bad experiences didn't follow the directions. You should read the on-screen instructions available when you put in the disc. It has more detail than the paper insert regarding preparing both PC's --> you need to turn off any scheduled updates, power settings (like sleep mode) and firewalls. You also need to make sure both computers are running the same version of Windows. It is also recommended that you run a virus and malware check on your old computer so you don't bring the bad stuff over to the new one. So, there is some "prep" that needs to be done before the transfer, but if you do all these things, you will not have a problem.

Works Beautifully
It was a little rocky getting started. I used the Ethernet cable and it kept telling me I had a poor internet connection. I fiddled around with it for a while and once I finally got it up and going, about 10 hours later I had a complete transfer. Everything worked on the new laptop....did not have to reinstall any of my former programs. I will definitely use it again in the future.

Unbelievably EASY & SMOOTH transfer!!!
I was very hesitant to buy this product because of all of the negative reviews. Anything from error messages coming up, system locking up, not all of your programs, data files, and photos transferred. But I thought I really had no other option that was viable at the time, so I bit the bullet and ordered it(CD, not downloadable). I will admit the included Ethernet cable did not fit either of my computers so I used the WiFi option. I was literally AMAZED at how easy and quick it was, even using WiFi! I installed PCmover Ultimate 11 on both computers, went through the questions and answers about what I wanted transferred and what I did not want transferred(I wanted everything transferred) and hit start. Even using WiFi absolutely everything was transferred in less than 1-1/2 hours. Restarted the new computer and everything worked perfectly. Did the same with the old computer and everything worked perfectly on it also. As a bonus you get SafeErase software also! I haven't used it yet but I have no doubt it will work perfectly too!!! I have nothing but good to say about Laplink's PCmover Ultimate 11 !!!

Makes moving to a new device very easy
Over the years, I've used this software about four times. I have learned that, although it might not move everything, it makes moving to a new device very easy. I only had to reload a few things and update a couple of registration numbers on each occasion. If you have a lot of software and data files, I highly recommend this product. I've also had a few occasions when I had to contact customer support. The people are quick to respond and have been helpful - taking care of my issues all of the time.

Moved data and programs!!
I was concerned about moving data and programs from my wife's failing Win 10 machine (upgraded from Win 7) and tried. Worked great. No obvious problems so far and it was backed up before starting to separate external drives. I was expecting to have to reinstall all the programs and find the reinstall files - not needed.

MUCH BETTER THAN I IMAGINED
Well, these things are never as good as one would hope, but now that M.S. doesn't offer any transfer help at all, I supposed it might be better than nothing. I really didn't want to face going from a Windows 8.1 laptop to my new Windows 10 desktop. I figured at worst, I'd have a proper cable. How wrong I was. This thing REALLY works. I have a LOT of stuff and many programs on my laptop including Photoshop, Lightroom, Fusion 360, Windows Office, Nikon Camera Control Pro, and other well known programs. But I also have complicated but perhaps less well written programs too. Some of them are a little bit quirky like Quickload, Faststone capture, Arduino, Bookwright, and some even lesser known programs. I'm happy to report ALL of them transferred correctly along with their associated files. It only took a little over an hour (both of my computers are very powerful). So far manual intervention has been limited to printing images because the embedded data looks for a printer in a different location, but that's dead easy to deal with. I couldn't be happier. In the past, switching over to a new computer involved a great deal of hard work which is why I've waited 7 years to upgrade this time. Last time I did this it took a full week of tedious and frustrating work. I recommend this program and next time I upgrade I'll definitely purchase this software again.
