So i've been a big hater on anything wireless. I would have gbit switches throughout the house and use cat5e or cat6 cables. I had multiple devices like mediaplayers, gaming consoles, laptops, tablets, smartphones you name it. When we moved to a new place, it was no longer feasible/realistic to use cables so I made the switch. Most devices at that point were already connected to wifi, like my gaming console, laptop etc. The one thing i kept wired was my fileserver/virtualization machine. But having a server close to the router means its in the living room which i just wanted to get rid off. So i got this wireless adapter and behold, i'm getting full speed on 5ghz. Even after moving it to the basement i'm still getting very close to max speed and very good reception. I'm surprised how well it works. I dont notice any high cpu uses or interrupts locking up, the response time is very good and overall the file transfers are fast and stable. I can download linux iso's on usenet with 8 threads and 20mb/s so no complaints. Only downside is that you need a cd/dvd-rom to load the drivers, or get them online. The chipset is Realtek 8812BU if you feel like getting the drivers somewhere else. Overall, very nice product!

What a rocky road to install. Partly my fault and partly Windows7. I thought I hadn’t received the CD with the driver on it. And without the adapter working I didn’t have internet access. Chicken and the egg. After much searching I finally found the CD in amongst some papers. The CD is kinda tiny and easy to miss. Once I found the CD I loaded the adapter driver and the utility software. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to get the adapter to work on Windows 7. (I tried a lot of stuff. Apparently, according to google, I wasn’t the only one with that problem. But I read somewhere that the adapter runs perfectly with no setup on Windows10. So I forked over $100 to get Windows 10. Once it was loaded, I simply plugged in the adapter into a USB socket and voila!! It worked!! No additional software required!!! All I had to do was follow the instructions that Amy from the supplier sent me and it worked!! The speed is very fast and has worked flawlessly ever since. So, I am giving 5 stars for performance but 2 stars for installability sknce the packaging said it should work for Windows 7.

This really boosted my signal. I was so frustrated with how slow my computer was, I was contemplating buying a new one even though it is other wise functioning fine. With this adapter, my download and upload speeds are far better as I can now take advantage of the 5G channel on my WiFi.

Quick review: This Wifi adapter worked immediately with no setup. I plugged it into a Windows 10 box and had no issues connecting to my Asus RT-N66U router. I can connect on both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz channels. Long story (in case this helps anyone else with my old adapter): I was using a Qualcomm Atheros AR938x WiFi adapter in Windows 7 with zero issues for years. However, the forced Microsoft upgrade to Windows 10 gave me issues with my GFX card (constant crashes) and as I found out, my WiFi adapter. I had gotten a new router around the same time as the upgrade and for months I would periodically lose connection and, thinking that it was the router that needed to be reset, I reset the router and everything worked fine again. It was a little annoying but after recent Windows updates I noticed this every hour or so. Since my other devices worked fine, I finally realized that this was a problem with my PC and not the router. I bought this adapter on a Friday night, it was delivered on the Sunday afternoon, and it has worked without any issues for two weeks. This saved me a lot of frustration caused by Microsoft who keep managing to find new ways to push me further and further away.

Now that the Inamax WiFi adapater is up and running, the use of 5G is awesome and so much faster. To get to this point- Amy of Inamax customer service, helped me tremendously. First, it helped to use Google's search engine and I downloaded the zip file easily. I was experiencing issues getting the driver to download as I wasn't following directions to a T. Any walked me through the process and all worked out quickly from there. Some of her directions may help you too: Open this link in browser (this is the link you'll see on amazon start up directions page). You will see three files. Don't double-click the file directly. You have to download the driver firstly ,then install it. Please place mouse pointer over the file named "Windows_driver". You will see a downloaded icon. Click it, you will download the driver. It's a compressed file you downloaded, don't double-click the file to EXTRACT it. That's not right. If you double-click it, and it will say "Sorry!, We do not support this operating system !!" Please right-click the file and EXTRACT it, you will get a folder firstly. Now double-click it. You will see the icon named "Setup", Please check the following icon, it must be this blue icon. Double-click the "setup", You can follow the wizard steps to install the driver successfully, then restart your computer, and then plug the adapter into the USB port. Works awesome! Thanks again Amy!

Firstly, the reason that I used the slower USB WIFI Adapter here is because this is what I was dealing with for a good while. I didn’t include images of the PowerLine adapter because I was just lazy. Also, please excuse my grammar. xD I have been dealing with internet speeds that didn’t live up to my personal standards so I really wanted something new and faster. Since my apartment complex recently dropped that crappy CenturyLink DSL (8down/.5up) and got Spectrum (100down/10up, not including boost) things have changed. I needed to step up the WiFi game. I had the Edimax (EW-7811Un 150Mbps 11n Wi-Fi Nano USB Adapter $9.99) for a good while. it works good in my brothers’ room, of course he is just on the other side of the wall of the modem/router so he should. My room PC is 20FT away and I guess lots of interference. Next was the Edimax (EW-7722UTn v2 300 Mbps Wireless 11n Mini USB Adapter $14.99). The first one I received was complete junk and lots of other reviews on this model have stated the same. It was slow and even when it said connected, it didn’t load pages. This replacement one I have is really no better. Alright, so both of those are a bust for my bedroom PC, they definitely are better in my brothers’ room, that is for certain. These two are slower than what my DSL connection was, and that is a no go, for anyone! With an Ethernet PowerLine (TP-Link AV500 $34.99) I was good speeds but I wanted less cables since I have a cat and he love cables. The information and pictures are based on multiple tries and different settings, these were they best that I could do. This is what I am getting from these devices (Pictures Included for most) Edimax Nano (6.71 Down, 5.09 Up) Edimax Mini v2 (5.16 Down, 0.83 Up) PowerLink TP-Link 150 kit (43.17 Down, 9.72 Up) Inamax WiFI Adapter AC1200 (98.55 Down, 11.92 Up) Ethernet Cable (116.47 Down, 11.93 Up) As you can see this WIFI adapter on 5GHz is what I wanted! Of course, this will very for you based on what settings you use, what speeds you have and of course if your router can support it. I have a Modem/Router from Spectrum, Arris Touchstone TG1672. Anyways, 5/5 stars for me, it does what it’s advertised to do and I have no regrets or issues. 😊 I will most likely buy another one for my brothers room and another for when I build and/or are testing PC's.

Works Great. Received it and plugged it into my computer and it worked without any issues or problems. I haven't done any sophisticated testing, such as for range or data rate but it works fine in my application - and that's all I'm interested in. The antenna is a bit longer than another USB WiFi unit I have but that has not been a problem. I like that it's USB 3.0 because I know the USB speed will never be a limitation on the data rate. All-in-all, a good product, easy to use.

I recently switched my isp from Spectrum to Frontier FIOS. The Frontier router is provided free and immediately noticed a significant decrease (one bar) in the Wi-Fi signal to my PC from the router in the living room. I did some research and found that many people have solved weak WiFi problems through the use of USB WiFi adaptors. I looked through the ones available on Amazon and decided that the Inamax adaptor might be the one I need. I received it in two days and had it up and running in minutes. The software that came with it has a gauge that indicates I am now getting the speed of 100/100 that I am paying for. After installation I noticed I had two WiFi connections, so I turned off the one using the internal card. I am now experiencing a significant improvement in upload and download times and I am very happy with my purchase. Highly recommend.

This is an excellent link adapter to connect a PC to the internet from our wireless router. We upgraded our router to AC1200 speed, which is much faster than my old router. Of course, my old PC couldn't keep up with my new router's speed, but sure can now since we added this plug and play wireless adapter. Besides faster connection speed, it is more stable as well, as the antennae on this thing is huge so it stays connected all the time now. Fast internet speed is so appreciated! I had some questions, and received quick answers. Customer support (through email) is great (Thanks Amy!) This is one of the best purchases I've made in a long time.

This thing is fast. I am consistently getting over 220 mbps download/upload tests results on a heavily loaded 1 gbps fiber optic service. Now considering buying one for an aging laptop without 801.11ac wifi card in order to squeeze a few more years of life out of it. This unit arrived quickly and installed without downloading drivers for Windows 10. Update: July 3rd 2018 After my satisfaction with the first adapter, I purchased a second adapter for an old Windows 7 laptop to replace the internal wifi adapter. It improved the performance of the machine dramatically. I'll get a few more years of use out of it now. Update July 18 2018 My college age daughter was so impressed with the speed of this adapter that she took my second one to use on her home-built desktop Windows 10 pro machine instead of running 50' of network cable from the router in her apartment to the machine. Plug-and-play on a Win 10.
