APC must have listened! Mine doesn't make the audible noise after the battery has been charged.
I received my UPS yesterday and immediately plugged it in. The battery was a little over 90% charged, so I let it finished charging before I moved 1/2 of my devices to it. I have a smaller 1300VA APC UPS which has worked wonderful. It was just too much for all of my electronics (75" TV, DirecTV receiver, Surround sound (With sub), Synology NAS, PS4, Airport Extreme, cable modem, AT&T MicroCell, aaaand an 8-port switch. Not all of them were hooked up to battery backup. With my new UPS, I have separated all of my devices between the two. (I could have gone with a larger rack-mounted UPS, but it would have taken up too much space.) With everything running, I have ~30 minutes for each UPS. The power goes out way too frequently with surges/sags, which is nasty!! My Synology NAS has no issues 'seeing' the UPS. During a power outage and the battery gets low, the NAS will gracefully shut down and power down the UPS automatically. I was hesitant in purchasing this model due to the number of reports of the squealing/strange noises. Thankfully mine didn't exhibit any noise (After the battery was fully charged). I must have received a newer one. This one is much smaller than my 1300VA. I haven't heard it when the power has gone out. I'm used to the fan kicking on in my older one when the power goes out, so I'm anticipating that noise (Which I'm fine with). I do like the added ports on the front to charge devices. The screen is much brighter than my older one (Kind of hard to tell in the pictures due to the flash). I have attached a few pictures showing them side by side. It stinks that we have to have these devices, but it's a small price to pay to protect your valuable electronics! Thank you for being the 'sacrificial lamb', ROFL.

APC BR1350MS -received Jan 2019
APC Sine Wave UPS Battery Backup & Surge Protector, 1350VA, APC Back-UPS Pro (BR1350MS) Received with obvious warehouse damage to box BUT, due to APC's great packaging effort, there was zero damage to the product. -Note that the boxed UPS was shipped inside of a shipping box that did not have damage that would account for the product packaging to be so damaged. The UPS came with about 90% charge and I set it up to charge fully before doing much else. Accessing and connecting the battery was very easy. I had recently had carpal tunnel surgery and could barely use my right hand... so yeah, great job to APC since all of my other units (older APC's) were a bit of a pain with two fully usable hands. I purchased this to replace my older APC Back-UPS Pro 700, which does not have the near natural sine wave. I recently learned a bit more about computer hardware, PSU's in particular, and see that the 80+ with Active PFC do not play well with Stepped Sine Wave. (might explain what happened to my last MoBo). I currently use the old 700 for everything except the computer and the USB Hub, which are plugged into this new APC. Likely move the 700 to other tasks since this one can more than handle what I am throwing at it but was taxing the 700. This unit is longer, taller and wider than my 700 but hey, it does more and IS more in every way. The short of it: Came 90% charged Easy to connect battery cable No whine, even under heavy testing load Set Sensitivity to highest and no annoying sounds -does click when we have brown power I like the PowerChute option which I had never installed before. I hope I do not need to test the shutdown feature but know that it is just a matter of time where I live.

Mine doesn't WHINE!!!
Everyone's is apparently whining. Not mine. Came 80% charged, took a little to charge. Decent PC program, though some of the calculations for CO^2 emissions seem to be on the heavy side. Unfortunately I have yet to lose power yet. Go figure. lose it once a week before purchase. after purchase no issues... Going to get a second one for the Xbox and router/modems since my new Docsis 3.1 modem does not have battery back up built in. Power: For those not sure if the 900Watts is enough (1500VA version)/ I have the following running on mine: Built Gaming Desktop, single GPU card, 1000W PS, 144hz monitor, decent 2.1 speaker system. Intel i5 gen 7. 32g ram, SSD boot drive and SSHD. Giant fans, LEDs, wifi card, etc. music playing appears to use around 171 watts. Gaming doesn't cap over 300 yet. Unless you are running a tri-monitor SLI set up, I don't think you will max this out. I was nervous due to the 1000 Watt PS, but it was overkill for my set up to begin with. So far so good! ONE COMPLAINT: Minor of course. The damn program ("app" cause windows calls them that now), on WIndows 10 ALWAYS asks for permission EVERY time I open it. No option to auto-approve :-( The only app that does that.

Unit Makes A VERY LOUD Capacitor whine - *5 star UPDATED*
The unit seems to run fine, but it makes a very loud, high pitched capacitor whine when on line power. Evidently the unit, even when purchased on Prime, is not a returnable item. If you are hearing impaired, or you have this unit in an area with lots of ambient noise, it will be fine. If you have it in a library or other area where it is typically quiet, get used to the SCREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEECH that will be present 24/7. Since it is not returnable, I had to construct a noise dampening box out of a large Tupperware container and foam, to cover it when I'm using in the room reading, writing, etc. UPDATE 4/24/19 I have changed my rating to 5 stars. After my initial review, I moved on with life. It was only a few months later that I noticed that Schneider Electric replied to my review with a request for me to call them to address the issue. So on 4/19/19 I called them. After a bit of troubleshooting, they agreed that the unit was still in warranty and agreed to send me a new unit and pay for the return of the old unit. The new one arrived on 4/23 and I plugged it in to fully charge over-night before placing it in service. The new one is completely quiet, with near zero noise at all. Schneider Electric made good on their warranty with no hassles at all. New product is working as advertised with no problems and no noise.

Very Happy with my upgrade and the folks at APC
My old Network-40 was seriously under powered for my living room AV setup (TV, Stereo Receiver, Cable box, XB1) but still did the job when needed. However, I needed a new battery so I ended up getting that through APC and in the process talked to their Tech Support about an upgrade. This unit was perfect for me as it fit nicely into a slot in my AV cabinet but what really sold me were the folks at APC. They spent over an hour with me as we talked about my needs and helped me select a more powerful APC (still a tad under powered but I don't have everything on at once). In the end they even sent me to Amazon for a better price. They also explained that the 3 year service plan sold on Amazon ran concurrent to their warranty and since they would end up servicing the unit anyway (Amazon wont take a return on a hazardous material) the warranty wouldn't be necessary. I was blown away by their help. Cant recommend you talk to them about your needs enough as it's the best customer service experience I've ever had. In the end the unit is wonderful and I especially like having a display out front. The noise issue earlier has been fixed (though they would have swapped a problem unit out if needed). One small issue is that the plugs on the back are positioned so a device with a brick type plug could awkwardly stick out the side somewhat negating the benefit of the slim design. That, however, maybe resolved by using a small 1' extension cord. So far so good. Very Happy with the purchase and APC service!

Saved my bacon during a power outage
I live in a house with somewhat slipshod wiring. (It's one of those hastily built newer houses that uses serial, rather than parallel, electrical wiring, which means if one circuit blows, others might too.) Brownouts and power surges that reset devices happened regularly. I decided to spend the considerable sum that this unit requires to protect my living room entertainment system, which includes a 65" TV, a PC, an amplifier, and (most importantly for me) a Google Wifi router. In short, a lot of power-hungry equipment, in a house with faulty wiring. This unit, during an hour-and-a-half long power outage, didn't just have enough juice to hold up all the equipment long enough to gracefully shut most of the devices down, but also could keep the Google Wifi router running for 100 minutes—more than enough time for the electrician to come and fix the problem. In short, this UPS did its job beautifully, and its ability to regulate inconsistent voltage and long-life battery saved my equipment during a critical time. For those of you who live in houses with less-than-perfect wiring, I strongly recommend a unit like this with sine-wave emulation. It's worth the extra money to make sure your expensive electronic equipment doesn't burn out prematurely.

APC by Schneider Electric is the best, in my opinion
This unit acts as a conditioner and battery backup (and surge protector). It has great features. I have a number of other Schneider electric/ACP products and I am very happy with all of them. I feel that Schneider makes high quality products, and I feel very confident in them. I do wish that they would come up with a better way of dealing with all the different configurations of transformer packs/adapters that have to plug into the outlets. They did make this with the outlets facing sideways to try to make it better. The problem is, since that makes the adapters protrude out past the sides of the unit, it they get bumped into, they come unplugged, so you have to be careful. I accidentally unplugged my external backup drive, and didn't know it for a number of days! The display on the front is really nice and allows you to monitor the amount of electricity each component is using as it turns on and off. It's interesting to watch, and makes me more conscientious even with other things in the house, as a result. You can adjust the sensitivity of this unit which is nice. I replaced a Belkin conditioner/battery backup/surge protector with this. The Belkin allowed a surge to get through which took out my modem, router, and computers wired network port. Also, Belkin doesn't even sell replacement batteries for their products! (I found a 3rd party vendor that I bought batteries from over the years). I feel this ACP unit is a big step up from my old Belkin.

GREAT UPS - Whisper Quite Easy Setup plenty of outlets
APC Sine Wave UPS Battery Backup & Surge Protector, 1500VA, APC Back-UPS Pro (BR1500MS) I've had this for about a month now and I am thrilled with my purchase. I was more than a little concerned by reviews that spoke of noises made by their units. Mine is right under my desk and it can not be heard. Even if I get down next to it there is NO NOISE. Setup was a breeze, the included software is great to have an argument with the power company with as it tracks daily events. I could not be happier with this device. I have not had to speak to tech support - but that fact alone gets em 5 stars from a tech support side. Downloading the software was very easy as well. Sine Wave they say is easier on equipment than other devices that make a square wave. So based on that information from a consultant friend I spent the extra bucks on this unit.

No mice inside...
Almost lost a star because I had to search my closet for a mice. I've had 3 previous APC UPS and this is a first! While working on a server in my closet I hear this barely audible "squeak". After tearing through the closet on hands and knees for the 3rd time, I finally realize the sound is coming from my BRAND NEW UPS!!! Well, thank goodness this is in a closet because if it were under my desk it would drive me crazy. Other than that, the UPS is pretty silent. I thought a 1500VA would get me to where I need, but seems I'm near capacity. BTW, squeaks regardless of load. Does what a UPS is supposed to do, or so I think. Will find out soon enough, thunderstorm season seems to have started a bit early this year.

Works as advertised! Rugged design!
My first impression of this unit was completely wrong, because I had trouble getting unit working right. Now I'm more than happy and unit works well! These units ship their (+Red) battery cable disconnected. I connected the Red cable but I did not check the black (-) ground cable. Weak (-) ground connection caused it to disconnect from battery by itself and throw a F02 error. I squeezed the negative cable terminal just a little bit with pliers and made sure it's connected tight to the battery. No problems after that! Although I had trouble getting my first order right, I would buy it again. It has no noise, battery works great and plus I always had decent experience with APC products! PS! I hope someone could give me a call, because I'd like to pay for the unit that came to me as free replacement. The first unit was not eligible for return. Checking carefully both terminals is a great idea before trying to use it! EDIT: My UPS unit works flawlessly now 3 weeks later. It's absolutely fantastic, I love this feature - long press of a menu button leaves the menu ON all times and I can observe my energy usages. Seems accurate and responsive. I can read how many Watts I'm using with my current activity, useful with RVs and solar systems. They haven't produced any sort of noise or heat. I would buy them again any time, fantastic units and great improvement over the old ones! Amazon did gave me a call to clarify my refund issue. Easy company to work with! Very pleased with Amazon and Seller both, Thank You!
