Quality is surprisingly good for the price

I was definitely apprehensive about buying this initially because of the reviews of poor quality. Don't get me wrong, this does not exactly feel like a high-quality item. The plastic lid is very tightly hinged, and can be a struggle to keep open while you're setting the hours. (Also pinches fingers.) That being said, I found setting it up very easy. I use this timer for my aquarium light so that my live plants consistently get the same amount of light. I have no idea why I made it so difficult for myself before (turning it on a couple hours in the morning before work, a few hours after work). Now I know that it consistently goes on and off, and it works perfectly.

Easy to use!

I am very happy with this outdoor timer. It has a sturdy design, is compact sized and was SUPER EASY to set. I use it for my little greenhouse heater and will probably buy another for next year's Christmas lights. Another nice thing is that it makes no sound. I went nuts a week ago trying to track down a faint but annoying sound in my home. Turned out it was a fairly new timer I use indoors for a lamp in my study. I replaced it with this one and enjoy the quiet life once more.

Exactly what I was looking for!

This timer is exactly what I was looking for! It’s sturdy, inexpensive, and very easy to operate. I really didn’t want or need some WiFi controlled digital whatnot just to switch the power to a fountain on and off several times a day. This old school timer did the trick and the price was right.

Good old school technology

I bought two of these to turn off my rock fountains at night. The fountains tend to build us algae during warm weather. Usually a weekly treatment of algaecide and a hose blasting will do the trick. But turning the pump off at night lets it dry out to kill algae. As for the timer operation, it's like falling off a rock. There are 48 30 minute tabs to set as on or off. The tabs are easily pushed down with a finger, or pulled up with a fingernail or small screwdriver. The time is set by rotating the time to align with a pointer, and that's it. Total installation time about 30 seconds. I don't think I'll have any weather problems, as we have little rain here. I've put the timer under a pile of small rocks for sun protection.

Love the customization option of this timer.

The nice thing about this timer is it allows you to turn off lights any time you wish. Most of the ones I found limit you to being on at night which was not what I needed. It seems well made and has been in use for about a month. The plastic see through cover looks like it will add to the longevity of the timer through all sorts of weather.

sturdy outdoor light timer- works with outlets in protective encasements

This light timer is perfect for the outdoor sockets I have that are encased in a protective box. It has a small cord attached to it which allows you to plug into the outlets in those boxes. I have 2 other timers, but the prongs are on the back of the timer and there is no possible way to plug them in the outdoor outlets. This one works perfectly. I can plug it in, it has a protective cover over the timer portion and is very sturdy. Very reasonably priced to boot! Highly recommend!

Reliable outdoor 24 hour timer.

This outdoor timer was perfect for turning my little waterfall pump on and off in our garden pond. It works perfectly, and is waterproof, so can be placed where it occasionally gets rained upon. It can be set to turn on and off multiple times during a 24 hour period, and the settings can be changed as desired. Note that this is a 24 hour mechanical timer, so cannot have different on/off settings programmed for different days of the week. But overall this is a sturdy outdoor timer at a reasonable price.

I plan to get another as a backup since I have a couple more transformers on timer that could go bad at some point

This item saved me much money: The timer on my Malibu landscaping light transformer quit working-- The transformer itself still worked but i could no longer set it to automatically go on and off at specific times. A Google search showed virtually everyone saying to just get rid of it and buy a new one or a couple people tried to show how to go into it and replace the timer parts, which looked very complex and still cost money for parts. Finally I came across someone who said to just go and get one of these separate timers and plug the transformer into it. So I got this and I did that and now the landscape lights are back on my schedule. I plan to get another as a backup since I have a couple more transformers on timer that could go bad at some point.
