This is the second item I've purchased from Twelve South. While I pondered the usefulness, once I got it I can't believe how good it is. The video is all you need for the easiest construction and the hardest part was sliding the iMac in -- I didn't disconnect the cords. In went my firewire Minimax (still humming all these years) and a few items just to clear the desk. I have not as yet used the screws, just letting the magnets hold the front and back plates. My only concern is holding onto the screws and wrench before I use them... where do I store it? I think I'll use a thread and tie the little bag to the front plate so I always know where they are. Strong construction and well worth my investment.

I bought two of these for different purposes. I am using one as a stand for a 27" Cinema Display and storage for a 2014 Mac Mini and a Superdrive. The Mac Mini and the Superdrive fit in the case nicely. The second case will be used to raise a 27" Thunderbolt Display to the same height as the 2015 iMac. I work from home a lot and I have a dual screen set up. For some reasons, the Thunderbolt Display is not the same height as the iMac. For someone who heavily relies on dual screens, uneven height is a major problem. This storage case is a perfect solution for the problem. The unit is quite well built and comes with one adjustable shelf. The metal adjustable shelf supports the weight of a 27" display or an iMac without any issues. For the Mac Mini set up, there is an opening in the back of the case where you can still access the ports of the Mac Mini. The fact that I can consolidate the Display, Mini and Superdrive into one unit saves a lot of desk top space. As for the dual screen set up, I use the storage space for an external SSD and a Superdrive. I like the fact that I can place my MacBook Air on the top of the case and use it with the Thunderbolt Display. Again, the ability to consolidate all the devices together saves desk top space. Bottom line, this little storage stand provides the flexibilities that I need. I just wish the price is a bit more affordable. I got two "Like New" condition ones at $60 each.

This product did not only meet, but exceeded my expectations. I have a 27" iMac on which I work ceaselessly: on it, I wrote articles and, now, a monograph. I was always reclining, for my seat stands tall over my writing table and the computer's screen was never directly in front of me. This sturdy stand is a godsend. Not only it places the computer at the right height, it also raises the computer so that I can place books, and the many objects that crowd my writing table under the gigantic screen. Furthermore, the base of the stand acts as awn enclosed storage unit for USBs, cables, note pads, etc. and is of great use. The only thing to keep in mind is that it must be assembled exactly as shown in the useful video on the item's sale page or the instruction diagram that comes with the stand. I only wish I had known about this stand years ago.

Awesome, very well built, as all their equipment is so far, and I have bought several items, the shelf I just love also for the iMac stand in back. But the HiRise is nicely designed and adjustable for what height is best for you. Your iSight camera is straight on now with the stand, instead of at a slight angle. Same brushed metal look as their shelf and the iMac frame/stand. Room under iMac footing for a multi port Hd that is 1 to 1.5" depending on your iMac setting. Back plate has a indented opening that makes the cable organization a cinch. Plus is magnetically held perfectly in place, or screws to shut it up tightly. Heavy, feels and is strongly built. Just enough felt like strips on the bottom to slide on a smooth surface without scarring at all. Mine is on a blond wood table, and I was worried about this, but it works very well. I have a 27" iMac, so feel comfortable about what it can handle. Plus I have a flex arm with my iPad right on the side, a HD on the shelf on back and it is like it should be an option from Apple. I highly recommend this stand, called the HiRise from Twelve South. The shelf and flex arm are also from same company. They have great ideas and great products that seem natural for Apple products. Enough said!!

This is the third product I purchased from Twelve South and all I can say is superb! The build quality in all of their products are extremely solid, functional and worth the price. Owning the Plug-Bug, Book Arc for MBA and now the HiRise for the iMac, I can't express how much I trust Twelve South to assure me their products are meant to last. The higher price may set off most people, but I can gladly say—IT IS WORTH EVERY PENNY. I wasn't sure if the HiRise would—actually—be enough to support my massive 27" iMac (late 2013 model), but without any hesitation or imbalance, the product stood still. The smooth support lining also makes it easy to maneuver the iMac around on the desk if an organization is in order. The adequate amount of space provides an area to store your Mac mini (if being used with a Apple Thunderbolt Display), external hard drives and more. The material and finish match the iMac and Thunderbolt Displays, so it looks to be a product provided by none other than Apple. I can't wait to make my next purchase from Twelve South—HiRise for the MacBook Air.

I was looking for a stand for my 27-inch iMac and stumbled across this. I almost never post 5 stars, but these guys earned it. It is the perfect height, the perfect width, and solidly built. Except for a few sharp polish edges, nothing pops out at me as wrong. I did not imagine I could find a product so on par with what I would have wanted had I known to design it myself. I hate sounding like a paid reviewer, but I was impressed. I could suggest they add more options for different faces, but the two they sent work great for me and I cannot think of any way to make them better while retaining their flexibility. The face plates can be used either front or back, or not at all. There are decently strong magnets to secure them, also both front and back, as well as machine screw holes for the included Allen screws to lock them in place (completely optional, although the empty screw holes are visible in the front if left unused.) You can flip the plates any which way and use the half plate in the front (as I did to allow me access to my DVD-RW drive's slot) or you can put the half plate in the back for additional cables, if any. The open half can be top (as I used it) or bottom. I rarely run into well planned and well machined products. I am a little in awe. lol The included shelf easily supports my iMac, but had I needed the height, the stand's top would have easily supported my iMac. There are six heights for the shelf to use, missing only dead center, since the top and bottom pieces slot into each other at the center. If you care for such details, the packaging was over-the-top clean and stylish with foam rubber keeping all the pieces neatly snug. I would have been happy to rip it out of a cheap recycled cardboard box, but the included box is nice and I might actually use it for something else.

The Twelve South HiRise for iMac is exactly as described and does just what it says. The materials and workmanship are the equivalent of Apple's own products in every way. If you want to raise your iMac to eye level, this is the ticket. Two things to be aware of . . . First, the screws that attach the front and back plates are minuscule. Assemble the HiRise on a padded surface so that if you drop a screw it won't disappear forever. You're not likely to find a replacement locally. There doesn't seem to be a compelling reason to attach the front plate with the screws anyway. If you want to store something in the HiRise, then you'll want to rely on the magnets to hold it in place; if you don't, then you'll want access from time to time to dust and remove dead bugs. So rely on the magnets for the front plate. Second, it is imperative that you follow the simple assembly directions IN ORDER. Assemble the top and bottom. Insert the shelf and determine which height is best for you. Only then attach the rear plate. "Why", you ask. It's because the iMac's own base is wider at the front than the opening in the rear plate of the HiRise. If you put the rear plate on the HiRise first, the iMac's base won't fit. This is a "five-star" item in every respect.

I got a new 27" iMac about a month ago, my first desktop in a dozen years. Unfortunately, what I also got as a result of the iMac were a series of headaches. I discovered that needed to raise the iMac in order to sit in a better ergonomic position. How to safely raise a huge, relatively heavy iMac safely? And without raising it and trying, I wouldn't know exactly how much to raise it, so an adjustable stand would be ideal. After searching on Amazon and off, I located this Twelve South HiRise for iMac. Yes, it is an investment, but not having headaches is important. I was able to save a bit of money buying an out of box return from Amazon. It arrived in two days with my Prime account. I was very impressed with how sturdy this stand is. It is substantial, very good looking, and very easy to assemble. The top and bottom simply slide together. The engineering is excellent. There is an adjustable shelf, a back cover that screws on, and a front cover that is held on with magnets. I tucked my small backup drive that I use with TimeMachine. Now the screen is up where it belongs, my neck feels better, and my desk looks tidy and elegant. What more can I ask for?

These are not the cheapest stands on the market, but they are the best. The design is exquisite and the manufacturing flawless. Even the packaging (the box) is awesome - heavy duty and well worth repurposing. The instructions are simple and the stand is easy to assemble. My only little criticism is for the teeny little screws - the socket for the (included) allen wrench needs to be just a little deeper to keep the allen from slipping out. If I was going to add or alter one thing, I'd replace the runners on the bottom with a grippier material. It's nice to be able to slide the computer (or monitor) around on the desktop, but it'd be nicer to be 100% sure it wouldn't slide when bumped. I like the option to screw on the front cover or leave it loose so it can be removed to access the little bit of storage space under the shelf on the inside. The magnets are sturdy and hold the cover in place quite well. There's enough room under the shelf inside the stand (provided you haven't put it on one of the lowest levels) to store an external drive or even a Cinema Display's power supply. The way the back cover is designed, plus the storage space inside, makes it so you can pretty much hide all the cabling and have a nice, uncluttered desktop. It's really not fair to compare the HiRise to other stands, because it's just that much better. It's not flimsy or ratty-looking like a lot of stands, it's not super wide so it takes up more space than is really necessary, it's made of aluminum so it matches the looks of the iMac (or Cinema Display) in a way that wood or plastic stands just can't, an like I said, it's well made and integrates well onto the desktop. I'd definitely recommend the HiRise to anybody looking for a stylish and functional stand for their iMac or Cinema Display. Well worth the premium price.

The perfect stand for my new iMac 5K. The Twelve South HiRise is the perfect companion for any iMac user, the aluminum finish matches the IMAX perfectly and the subtle styling looks really good under your iMac. This thing is also great for cable management and hiding unwanted and unnecessary items from cluttering your desktop. Personally I use it to hide a USB hub, the volume controls for my speakers, and a backup drive, it's a tight fit but really helps to keep things out of sight and without all of those messy cables hanging. I have been using this stand for almost a year now and it had no major complaints with it but there are some improvements I would like to see.First I wish that they had maybe a larger version that I could store my keyboard and mouse in are not in use. Second I would hope the next version would somehow keep the front and rear grill hinged to the unit itself instead of just held on by magnets, I mean the magnets work well but it looks cheap when you just pulled the front grill off and snap it back on. Third would be some way to physically secure the iMac to the stand itself because really there is nothing holding the iMac to the stand other than the weight of the computer itself. In summary I think this is a great stand for your iMac .It is the perfect way to gain a little elevation off your desk for your computer and a solid way to hide if a few peripherals.
