I have used several pre-paid carriers with my iPhones going back to the iPhone 3G and I am always on the lookout for a newer, better setup. Mint Mobile is currently the best I can find and this trial kit is great. You can try the service for up to a week without committing or changing your phone number and once you've decided that the coverage and/or speed is suitable, use the second included SIM to port your old number to the new service. Brilliant. In addition to MUCH faster speeds than I was getting with every other MVNO (AT&T, Verizon), Mint also includes free wifi hotspot functionality up to the full bandwidth of whatever plan you choose. The other day I clocked over 95Mbps down and 25Mbps up in downtown Ocala (Mint uses the T-Mobile network). That's almost as fast as my home Spectrum wifi on the downstream side and almost four times FASTER than my home wifi on the upstream side. The free iOS app makes it very easy to use the trial SIM and switch service to the secondary SIM. No calls to tech support needed! The app also tracks usage so you can see if you're getting close to your plan's allowed data limit. Like most pre-paid carriers, you can save money if you buy more months up front. As of this writing, a year of 5GB with unlimited calls and texts costs $240, or $20/month. I doubt you'll find cheaper anywhere and this includes the aforementioned wifi hotspot feature. When you buy a plan after purchasing this kit, the cost of the kit is deducted from the cost of your first plan purchase, making the trial kit free. Sadly, iPhones currently cannot use wifi phone calling when inside a structure that blocks the phone tower signal, but the company says they are working on adding that feature in the near future, so check with them before you buy if this is a priority for you.

...Plus they discount the 5$ if you go ahead and decide to join. I like it. Especially the fact I can forget about paying my bill for 3, 6 or 12 months in advance. no need to keep track month to month, if you buy it in a bulk. Also** for those just buying things before doing research I suggest you do some before purchasing an MVNO provider, this one runs on TMOBILE Towers ( Though no MVNO ever tells) so make sure you get service with tmobile where you work, go to school or hang out most of the time before buying it.

1) I am a Prime member, if you are not your shipping will depend on which choice you choose during checkout. I ordered one day and it was here the next. I didn't have to drive to the strip mall, find a parking spot, or stand in line. Life is good. Product was packaged correctly and arrived in "new" condition. Pat on the back for packaging and shipping personnel. 2) I had used the Mint website to check that my phone (Moto G6) was compatible with their service. I downloaded the and installed the Mint Mobile app. I made sure I was on wi-fi and inserted the new sim. I opened the app and followed the instructions to activate the sim card. I had to change some settings in my phone and I found it easier to open their web site on my computer and pull up the settings rather than write them down or try to flip back and forth on my phone. 3) Service at my house was great. No issues at all. The app is simple and easy to use. Data speeds were as good or better than any service I have had here at my home. I have had Nextel, Ntelos, U.S. Cellular, Verizon, AT&T and Sprint. All had a good signal. 4) I had never had T-Mobile before and wanted to see if it also would work at my house and area. That's why I wanted to try Mint mobile. Final thoughts. This review is for the Mint Mobile Starter Kit. I stand by my 5 star rating for this kit but I did not choose to switch my mobile carrier and here's why. While the coverage was great at my house, just a few miles away I was unable to get a signal (central Virginia) and only spotty coverage on routes I travel most often. When entering city limits coverage picked up considerably but still dropped a few calls. When stationary, I had better results. The plan I have now, while twice the cost, has unlimited data and dropped fewer calls so I'll stick with it for now. If you have a compatible phone, are looking to save some money, and $5.00, I would recommend you give them a try using this starter kit. You only give them your name and email address and Zip code (for number assignment). No credit card or billing information. Depending on where you live and travel you may have better coverage than I do and you could save hundreds of dollars. Whew, this is more than I've typed in 5 years! Hope this helps anyone that's on the fence.

I am home from studying abroad for 3 months, I wanted a prepaid plan that was affordable and worked well. A quick search online led me to Mint Mobile. You absolutely can't beat the price, and the service has worked perfectly me so far, which isn't too surprising since they piggyback off of T-mobile. It just so happens that I will only be back in the US for 3 months, so their intro 3-month promo was perfect for me. I think when I come back for good that I will be using Mint Mobile permanently. The only negative is that they don't have any free data deal for popular apps (like apple music, facebook, etc) like many other big providers do. oh well, 10gb of data for the price works perfectly for me so far.

I bought a Schok Freedom Turbo phone and was able to use this trial sim card that didn't work in the Doogee phone I returned. Mint Mobile will only allow this sim card to work in a phone that can download their seldom used app. The app told me all that I needed to know to get this up and running. Easier since I didn't port my number. Pretty much found out what I needed to know in one day but I have 7 days to try it out before committing to a plan. When I first went with Mint it wasn't so easy; now it is. P.S. I ended up placing the trial sim card into my older phone and the older phone's Mint Sim card into my Schok phone. Couldn't have been easier. My reduced price subscription account with Mint went uninterupted and I got to keep my old phone number from the older phone. The old phone has the newly created number, but I plan on using that one as a small tablet. THANK YOU MINT!

Finally decided to get my first ever smartphone. Bought an unlocked Motorola Moto G6. Did NOT want to pay a hundred bucks a month for a plan so I decided to try Mint Mobile. The starter pack arrived promptly in the mail and has two sim cards --- make sure you read instructions on when to use the Mint app from your phone and when to use the Mint website (if you need to). Newbie to smartphone that I am, the tiny size of the sim card was a surprise but got it in the phone. Setting up the APN was a bit confusing but Mint provided the information to do so and I think it was how the Moto G6 menus are set up to add APN that slowed me down a bit here. But, it activated and got a phone number in seconds. Downloaded apps from Play Store and have been experimenting with how much data each one uses. I decided to keep my new number (did not want to port a number from another phone) so the second sim card was not used. I took advantage of the Mint Mobile Black Friday deal of 3 months of the 5GB plan for $20.00 and they did apply the five dollars paid for the starter pack to that total. Will spend 3 months deciding how much data per month I need and then go on the Mint plan that matches my needs best. All in all, a good experience for a newbie and the phone has worked well on my home wifi, retailer wifis and 4G network where I live. I am not a "power user" at all but this Moto G6 with Mint Mobile combination is a great way to get into having a smartphone.

We were curious to see how this inexpensive mobile service worked so we ordered the trial. We've had t-mobile for years and I'm just done with them. Were were paying 115 a month for 2 lines, the bill was supposed to be locked in at 95 flat but it never was. After 6 years of arguing with t-mobile I'm out. Mint mobile was super easy. We just popped in the sim cards (we own our phones outright, they are unlocked) , installed the app and the service was up and running in minutes. The call quality is fine, the service area is perfect. After taking it for a quick spin, we signed up. We have unlimited talk/text/data for 20 a line for 3 months. Not 20 dollars a month, 20 for 3 months. And they credited the $5 for the trial so we paid $18 and change per line for service for 3 months. When its time to renew in May, we plan to just pay for the full 12 month plan, which will be $180 per line for the whole year. It's a no brainer really. I have a galaxy edge, my husband has a note and the phones perform as well as they did with t-mobile service. I totally recommend Mint Mobile. Why pay hundreds of dollars a month for the exact same service you'd get with Mint? I'll never go back.

For $5 bucks, I was able to find out if Mint Mobile was for me. Living in a remote area of NM, I never know if a network is going to work as well as their coverage map states. I would have saved some money, and some headaches, if other services I tried offered something like this. I had tried AT&T a few years ago, their map said I had excellent coverage in my area, but, it wasn't so. After signing up and paying activation fees, etc, I found I couldn't make a call from inside my home. I literally had to walk to the street corner and stand next to the stop sign to get a signal. This is nothing against AT&T, I just couldn't get a signal where I lived. If they had a $5 starter pack like this, I would have known in a day that it wasn't for me, and only been out $5. For $5, you get a 3 in 1 sim card which virtually fits any GSM phone. And 250 minutes talk time, 250 texts, and some data. All good for 7 days. It was super easy to set up with the Mint Mobile App. And changes you have to make in your settings are extremely detailed, so following those instructions were not to bad. Customer service is available if you need help. I used it for the 7 days. It's a great cell service for $15/month. For a few bucks more you can get plans with more data, like all carriers. I found no difference between Mint Mobile and other carriers that cost 2-3x more. It's all a personal preference I guess. I personally don't need a big name carrier, as long as my calls go through, that's all I require. For $15/month you're not going to get Hulu or HBO included, or any other big incentive. But you will get unlimited talk and text, and 5gb data/month. You have to buy 3 months service at a time ($45) to get this price, but being that's what most people pay for 1 month, I think that's a decent deal. All in all, the $5 starter pack is a great idea, and if you decide to buy the plan you get a $5 credit towards your first bill, so it literally cost $0 if you decide to stay with them. Mint has been around for several years now and at these prices I think they'll be here to stay. If you're looking for good no frills phone service, its definitely worth checking out for $5.

I purchased this kit purely to try something other than Verizon in the Phoenix metro area in February 2019. I had no issues with Verizon... I just wanted to see if I could get equal service for 1/5th the cost. Swapped the sim card on my iPhone XS Max and was up and running in 2 minutes. Everything worked out of the box for iOS and I had a good signal in my house and neighborhood. Similar good connection at the neighborhoods around work (Central and Thomas) and in my work building too (1 to 2 bars LTE deep inside a concrete and steel medical building). I ported my number that night and have had good signal the and data all over Phoenix. So far so good.

Thrilled with this service. It essentially uses T-mobile network and I have had no issues in the Washington DC area after switching from T-mobile. My understanding is that you may run into issues when traveling to areas where T-mobile does not have service on its own network. I believe that MintSim cannot tap into the networks which T-mobile customers can tap into due to the third party agreements that T-mobile has in place with other network providers in areas where it has no or low signal strength. This may cause an issue with coverage for those of you who spend a lot of time on country roads out there. Aside from that, for the price this is well worth a test. I suggest that you buy these sim cards and give it a shot. I used to have a family plan with 4 lines with TM for about 170/mo. I never used the 4th line but that worked for us because switching to the current plan was going to cause us to get the same price for three line (because we had cheaper international calling plans on our old plan). With MintSim, I have 3 lines now at $15 each per month with unlimited everything, including 2GB data on each line. We don't need more than that. This is not a family plan. It's just three individual lines, which is fine. I had no issues porting my phone number to mint sim. I took about 45 minutes for each phone number. You just make the request through mint sim when you sign up. Before doing it, I caution that you should ensure that you download any billing information, etc. that you need from your current wireless phone account, because once you port your main account phone number you may not be able to access your account online anymore. All in all, I'm thrilled to be paying $45 instead of $170 per month. Finally, for international calling, you can arrange that too for an additional low, pay-as-you go fee. I'm also happy with the MintSim app on my phone.
