My son loved this!
My son loved this!!!! He is 10 years old. I did monitor the putting together of this as I can see if the pieces are glued together crooked or not correctly how the machine would not run properly and frustration will ensue. But I helped him make sure we used the 90 degree tool. As a 10 year old he was in a rush to get it done. We didn't do it over several days as the instructions say to, we did it over a few hours and it turned out great. We will purchase more of these for gifts in the future to tie together with this one.

Really adds something to the Skate park or the Dragon Coaster
I held off buying it for a while due to the price, but I have to admit that this really does make either the Marbleocity Skate Park or the Dragon Coaster even more fun. A very easy addition to either aforementioned kit, if you build the kit you can easily add the motor. Just sit back and watch the marbles do their thing without any human input.

Must use for these devices
Although you can use the various marble machines without the motor, they work much better with it. My daughter was often turning the gear the wrong way, and the marbles would get stuck. The motor is much better, and makes watching the marbles tale the path more enjoyable. One drawback, when I first placed the batteries in the holder, the motor wouldn't turn on. I noticed it was not making a good connection (the motor worked when I had the batteries in a partially removed/replaced location), a little bit of investigation with a volt meter showed one of the springs in the battery holder was not making good contact. Slight adjustment of the spring seems to have fixed the issue, and marbles are moving as desired.

This is a must-have
I have the skate park version of this game. It works without the motor but with lots of problems. The balls were always getting stuck in the elevator and I would jostle it as I was turning it, so balls would fall off in various places. I did a few modifications with sandpaper, glue and little bits of wood but it was like whack-a-mole. I decided to grab the motor. The instant I attached this motor, everything worked perfectly. Balls never go off course. I guess it just needed a constant, correct speed. With this motor, the whole set looks and works beautifully. Considering the price of the set (which I consider way overpriced), this motor is very cost-effective. I would say it's pretty much necessary if you have one of these marble obstacle courses. Very satisfying to just sit back and watch something you built (well, glued together) just work and work. Hypnotic, even. Suggestions for the manufacturer: they set it up so both the motor and the battery pack attach underneath the platform. This means. if you want to turn it on or off, you have to pick it up. And since the switch is very small, you need to search for it. This causes the bearings and a few parts to fall all over. It would be much nicer if they designed the set so that the motor would attach under the platform, but the switch be accessible from the outside. A very small nit. Overall I absolutely recommend this.
