Fantastic Tool!

I have several coconut trees in my backyard. I used to use a drill to open them for the water. It took several minutes and created a big mess. This tool is fantastic! It takes less than 30 seconds to open a green coconut, and there's very little mess. Creates hole large enough to easily pour into a cup without mess and perfect size for a straw. I've purchased several and given them as gifts to friends. One bit of advice...don't use a lot of force if the shell of the coconut is hard. I've bent the tool by applying too much force. Young, green coconuts should be soft enough to cut the hole quite easily.

the best tool to open the coconut

when I first got the tool, I try to do it the way I normally do. I could not do it and I was thinking about return it. after viewing the video, I turn it upside down and it was very easy. the only thing is I have to find a ring to keep it seating still additional review, after used for a few weeks, I found the better way to do this is to use a knife to slide a little pointing off so you can let the coconut sitting still upside down, then you open the hole with the tool. I do not belief that the human hand can break this tool

What a great tool!

This tool was perfect for accessing the coconut water inside the Thai young coconuts. (The white ones wrapped in cling wrap.) I used to aim the bottom corner of my large cleaver at a spot below the point on the upper part of the coconut and try to hit the spot accurately enough times to get a hole large enough for a straw. I always ended up hacking it over and over, missing THE spot. Scared the heck out of my husband if he was watching. Now, I follow the directions that were sent after I ordered the tool and I can pretty easily poke the tool into what I thought was the bottom of the coconut and hitting the correct soft spot, I easily get a hole large enough for my straw. This tool is good if you don't want to access the soft coconut meat inside. Very inexpensive tool and takes up so little space in the drawer. I'll be drinking a lot more coconut water from now on.

Greatest Invention Since Sliced Bread ! ! !

This tool, hands down, is the easiest, quickest,and safest way to open fresh coconuts!!! We have coconuts growing in our property, and this tool makes it a cinch to enjoy! After allowing them to cool overnight in the fridge, use the tool to remove the top stem, easily insert the tool, make a loop, and remove the white husk. Insert a straw into the hole and drink to your heart's content. Feel free to add your favorite spirit to enhance the experience (we personally add coconut rum from the islands). Once your finished drinking, feel free to use a traditional machete to open the coconut. Make sure you are in a clear area, place the coconut on a hard surface, then slice one side of the coconut. Remove the machete, turn the coconut over, then slice again. Pick up the coconut and pull it apart. Have a spoon handy to scrape out any remaining coconut flesh. This tool is so amazing that I recently purchased one for a friend who was raised on a farm using traditional cutting tools to open this fruit. Now, he will not use anything else but this coconut opener!!! Buy it!!! Promise you will not be disappointed!!!

Great price works well

I love fresh coconut juice and normally just use a sharp paring knife to find the “eye” at the bottom and poke and wiggle to make an opening but this poses a couple problems as a) it’s not very safe and b) it can get some woody pieces inside which I don’t like. This handy tool eliminates both problems just flip the young coconut and poke around gently till it gives a little (the eye) then twist it and pull out the little “cork” of husk add straw and Enjoy!

Excellent tool for young white coconuts!!

I just ordered this tool and it works exactly as described. I use it for the young white coconuts. I use it on the flat white end, just push and turn in the soft middle a few times and the juice pours out easily. Very little pressure is needed to turn it. The only thing I would like is some way to get the coconut meat out, but that’s very minor.

It really works

I buy young coconuts from the Asian supermarket regularly, and I have such a hard time opening them. This tool really works. You just push it on the bottom at an angle and twist it. It opens up a nice hole for you to put a straw in. It doesn't crack a coconut open though so you still have to deal with that. This is a handy little tool for people who drink fresh coconut juice.
