Provided everything I needed to start on the path of being successful. Love it this far and even impressed my mother as a beginner. Online lessons work for thanks to an informative instructor.

Yes, the 5-star rank considers its price. I'm not a professional violinst or even a competent one, but I am a musician. I still have my childhood violin which is still in excellent shape, considering its age and misuse by a relative. The cost of replacing the strings and a new pack of rosin was more than the cost of this entire violin kit. Granted, I bought nice stuff for my old violin, but I don't know how this instrument can be so affordable. You have to assemble this a bit, like placing the bridge, and the instruction is clear. That took some work because the bridge doesn't have little notches to make the process easier. Since I have another violin, I tried to copy that, though it seems a little bit off. I had trouble pushing in the tuning pegs deep enough - if you're stronger, maybe this won't be an issue for you. The violin sounds pretty good! At least 3.5 stars. It isn't as warm as expected, but casual listeners wouldn't notice it. If you go more for the fiddle-playing style, this is fine. The bow, while not great, is serviceable. The rosin sucks. The strings are okay. Fingering seems ever-so slighly off for my ears with perfect pitch, but a better bridge will likely fix that; it's not that bothersome. The violin needs more frequent tuning, but that may be resolved after I can push in the tuning pegs in more, plus simply playing more to break it in. The finish of the violin is not durable - scratches and dings appeared only after 3 times of short playing. However, that doesn't affect the sound. The music stand is great! It's portable and constructed as one piece, all fitting in a carrying case. One of the rubbery/plastic nub-like thing at the end of the page holder came off, but you can put that back on after finding it, maybe dab a bit of glue inside. It's not an essential piece if you can't find it. I cannot believe all these items came with the violin. For a beginner who just needs something to start on, this will be fine. Considering how difficult it is to get a nice tone out of a violin for the initial few years, you don't need to invest in a top-notch instrument until reaching a level of greater commitment. So, yeah, for what you get, this is great. Your violin teacher may not like it, but I'm not too into the snobbery of music. Music should be fun and accessible. Considering learning music is financially out of reach for so many people, this is a fantastic deal. No, this will not replace my trusty violin, but for a parent playing along with a beginner Suzuki student, it's fine. Do invest in a better rosin though.

Great for learning students, this violin is nice because its decent enough quality for any preteen or grade school student to learn on AND it has everything you could need. It's a pretty comprehensive kit and for this price it really is a steal. Sound quality is pretty darn good too and the bow, strings, everything are included with some extras thrown in. Really a perfect set!

Very happy with this buy!

I love everything about it is awesome my son love it as well I

I bought this for my son who decided he wanted to take violin lessons his final year of HS. After his first lesson his teacher recommended that we buy/rent something of higher quality that would keep a tune. An internet search on how to keep a violin tuned produced some excellent results and decided to try putting some rosin on the pegs to help keep them in place. The rosin held those pegs and now the violin has been keeping perfect tune since I put the rosin on. I actually used a nail file to get some powdered rosin that could be placed in the hole where the peg sits as well as dusting the peg itself with the powder. I was quite amazed at how much of a difference this made and a little surprised that the teacher didn't know about this rosin peg trick.

Bought this for my daughter, she loved it and played it so much her arms hurt the next day.
