Brilliant alternative to getting a local SIM

One word of caution - set it up PRIOR to leaving for your trip. I made the mistake of thinking I could wait which led to a lot of trouble on my end as I had no connection. Prior to this device, I would purchase local SIM cards, which would mean setting up accounts with multiple providers. Now, all I do is turn it on when I reach my destination, and within a minute or two it has connected to the local network. The coverage is good enough for VOIP calls (only do audio to save on money) and texting. I have used this device in Mexico, UAE, and India so far without any problems and with reliable connections wherever there is a cell signal. In fact, sometimes I was able to get a data connection when my travel companions with local phones could not. When I purchased the device in Dec 2018, it came with two vouchers for 1gb of international data. After activation, you have 365 days to use the data before it expires. After a cumulative total of 3 weeks of traveling, I have used about 1.5gb of data. Your subscriptions and additional vouchers are maintained within the app, and are also available on the hotspot for activation if you run out of data away from another WiFi source. Battery life is excellent - it lasts all day with multiple connections. I would advise carrying a separate battery pack for your phone so you do not deplete the internal battery, but you can certainly use the USB port to charge your phone in a pinch. I purchased the G3 model for the screen, but honestly the G2 model would probably have been fine as well since your main phone will have the app and will display the hotspot status on there. I also purchased the hard-sided case for the hotspot, which has a bit of storage for cables, small bottles (bug spray in our case), and allows you to clip the hotspot to your belt or bag and protects it from travel perils.

Seamless between countries

I travel for business a lot across many countries, sometimes in one swoop. I love the flexibility of this device. You can buy day passes for certain countries if it's just a single destination trip, or buy a global package for a multi-stop trip. There was no disconnect at all on my recent 5 country trip, all 4G. Battery life is excellent, can run a day easily, sometimes two. Also acts as a portable battery so I didn't have to take my other backup. Customer service is also fantastic, I accidentally bought another day pass and they were able to refund me instantly. Would recommend for the frequent traveler. Rates are a bit more expensive but you pay for the convenience, definitely worth it in my opinion.
